Thanks for taking the time to show this. I never fully understood how vacuum or impulse fuel pumps worked but I’m a lot closer now. It’s simple but ingenious at the same time. Harvesting pressure from the crank case to pump fuel to create more cranked pressure. Who’d a thunk it!
The pulse line should always be a nice stiff line like you used, NOT fuel line which isn't as rigid. The pulse line should also be clamped with a hose clamp for optimum seal, not a spring clamp like you used.
Finally ive found ur vidieo that actaully explains the routing of hoses and how it does its work.thank you so much my pump died,i bought a new one but didnt remember what hose went were or how the pump even functioned.took old pump apart n i also couldnt find any tears or cracks in film of diaphrams,it could be as they get stiff and no longer flex enough.they cant pull air or fuel.is there a way to test.motors pulse suction, because even with new pump my sled wont start, but when i hook up clicky clack pump from tank to carbs itll run fine.i was thinking of using a balloon on pulse line.that and was thinking maybe something is plugging air flow to pulse nipple.got sweet deal on this 400 indy red polaris for 350.00 seems in good condition for a 90s sled.other than what im dealing with.anyhow thanks for ur indepth example.snooky pa.💥👌💥👍💯
That sounds like only a gasket replacement kit. My kit had those 3 black gaskets plus two clear plastic diaphragms. One of my plastic diaphragms has a crack in it. Replacing all items worked for me. Good luck.
I have a problem with my Gilera Runner 2005 all engine parts are new and has not been riding more than 2km and it has been sitting in a container all winter. I didn't change the vaccum fuel pump and it is really old actually I think it's the same as when It got sold in 2007.. my problem is that when I give it full throttle it's runs perfect until about 40-50km/t and then it will start bogging like it's running out of gas so it's losing all power 💀 do u think that it is the vaccum fuel pump there is the problem 🙂?
Rebuild it for $20 or just buy a new one for $45 Consider the extra $25 Life Insurance. Taking the kids to KFC cost more than that. Also run a Facet 2/4 psi electric fuel pump in series. You have every bit of a chance having a a fuel pump failure as you do an ignition failure. Plus the extra pump cost is small to the cost of duel ignition. Rotax Rick
From fuel pump didnt know they had a weep hole, time for a new pump if it does if you meant from ur carbs drain then its just the needle and seat are not shutting off the fuel when it gets full,or also the floats are defective and not floating causing carb to flood out, snooky pa.just trying to help out.

It's best to use a braided rubber line for the pulse line to engine. Better vacumn action/less rubber flex from hose.
The idea with the board was neat :)

Any time you can rebuild is great, but do it right, Always clean off the old gasket material if you want a great seal.
Nice vid.
I also have problem with my Yamaha XJ600 vacuum fuel pump.
Could you tell me the store to buy repair kit ?
Thanks.
I purchased online but can not recall specifically where I got it from. Sorry.
Ebay or amazon just type in yr n.model of sled.snooky
My rebuild kit only came with 3 gaskets,1 with line in middle, and 2 full circles?

It could be the problem. That's how my snowmobile acted before I replaced my vacuum fuel pump. Good luck.
@dabblinwithdan2895 thank you for your reply sir 🙏 I will try and replace it with a new one 🙂

Unfortunately, I sold the sled, but thanks for the suggestions. It might help out the next guy. Thanks for watching.
Rebuilt my pump and now fuel is coming out of weep hole. What does that indicate?
Uncertain as to why. Sorry.
