I was doing it wrong the whole time. Eveytime my partner got his hands on me I just break it off without getting the inside and counter attack. Lol. Everytime I just break it off. Should've gotten inside or at least counter.
But seriously bro this hand fighting works like a charm especially for self defense. The last time I was in public space you may call it a park. A stranger puts his hand on me like a post in wrestling to my chest. I just grab it with my two hands and brush it off. I ended up in 2 on 1 but I let it go I didn't counterattack him. And I said to him "what the hell are you doing putting your hands on stranger like that". The guy didn't say anything he just go.
Subscribed. You describe so clearly. I really liked how you added the note about how different ties are used to set up different takedowns. This helps to build an intuition about hand fighting.
Man you are really nice with that inside tie to single leg, I am going to practice this constantly. I wrestled in highschool all four years but it was 1/8 as technical as this, thanks man.
Thanks for this. Do you have a penetration step and follow throw video yet? We mortals get confused on how to finish ish and it usually results in a bake take 😢
I'm not much of a wrestler, but I do have some bjj. Inside position in general (arms or legs) tends to offer more options for transitioning attacks and creating double threats. Your limbs can easily connect with one another for reinforcement, while you can usually prevent your opponent from doing that. However, outside position is not really inferior, just more direct. It tends to be more high-risk high-reward. If you can generate enough pressure you get an unstoppable level of control that's not possible with inside position. You don't even need a double attack because they can't defend your first attack. If you can't achieve that pressure, you're kind of screwed and the inside guy is likely to come out ahead.
@@ryanhurt2813 If read Dan Gables book, he instructs his wrestlers to stay away from high risk high reward moves. Nobody is saying outside is bad. I just don't see a scenario when your hand fighting that you would concede inside ties for outside.
Do you also have tips on how to get a grip in the first place? Because during sparring the opponent is moving their hands in all directions, I find it very hard to even grab anything.

What about breaking/striping grips from standing and in various bbj positions? Would be a good video imo
gonna have to start paying you for these suggestions
Pretty good. I don’t think you explained when to use the thumb in our out wrist grip

yeah you can do all of those/ / and yes it matter ,
Inside ties are better, level changing with outside ties is considerably more difficult than with outside ties
Lies
@@WrestlingUniversity check the mechanics next time, go inside and do a level change, and try outside and level change and see which one is easier
