I learned how to play bass with your albums. Mad respect. Thanks for teaching people how to be creative, melodic and articulate, but simple and direct at the same time.
Summertime Rolls, Mountain Song, and Three Days are the most iconic for me. Goddamn, those are some incredible bass lines. The songs wouldn't have been nearly as impactful without them. Eric's contribution to the band was truly enormous. He's a creative genius and if you haven't heard his solo work, I highly recommend it.
“Summertime Rolls” has been my favorite song from Eric’s P-Bass that keeps repeating in my memory for many decades with the rhythmic flow of funkadelic bass lick grooves just over and over makes me smile even though I F’N HATE Summer being from the South’s Hot Humid record breaking heat!#🛹🏄♂️🎼🎸🧨💥🔥✨
He and the band do not get along, the reunion tour was it really, and that's why I saw them twice on that tour... He is a part of the core and without him it's not the same to me. I might be biased since I am a bassist who loved to play along with Jane's stuff, hehe.
Love his tone. Sooo many great bass players came out of the late 80’s-90’s: Simon Gallup, Noveselic, Mike Starr, Flea, Colin Greenwood, Twiggy, Justin Chancellor, etc, etc, etc…
Awesome bassist , imo one of the most talented bass player in modern rock, under-rated one in jane's, but after deconstruction, polar bear he went to play for alanis morisette & now in garbage....??? :o
If your shit gets bumped by accident during a gig - mid song, sometimes its easier just to reference a tone knob position vs fucking around with it, since you got very little time to get it right. You know, a loud gig.. where it hard to hear shit if you dont have in-ears.
When you can hum a bassline, that’s a great line. The bassline for “Ted just admit it” is super iconic and easy to hum. So awesome.
Truly amazing how one Christmas gift from parents to their son in 1982 inspired X amount of lives in the years to follow.
Man, when I was a kid, all I wanted was to sound like this guy. Eric A, an underrated, solid player
One of the best and most underrated bass players in Rock
Absolutely true. Eric Avery's style of playing, his tone, and his songwriting is truly unique.
@Let Your LIGHT Forever Shine ❤️ people who don’t know Rock music
The heart and soul of Jane’s

There is no Jane's Addiction 2.0. The magic ended with Eric's departure.
Now there is a 2.0
Well, you won't be disappointed now 😊
So true. Like Paul Mcartney, nobody else could have come up with those parts.
Hes back though
True dat, unfortunately 😢, although hope is re-ignited...

Seems like such a cool guy and I love his style of playing....his bass lines are awesome
Sometimes a band has essential ingredients to create magic and Eric is one of those essential ingredients

P bass is the best bass that fender will ever make . The looks the sound the fill all perfect
He was the real secret sauce in that band. That Bass is a testament to how solid fender products are.

all good songs evolve around a good bassline. and he just put out a ton of good lines.
Wow! I'm a rock bassist who listens to Brahms too! .....that first symphony still slams!!
help wanted is one of my favorite albums.
He was Jane's
You can hear Peter Hook's influence in Eric's playing. Like he said, "cyclical". And also very memorable.
this is awesome, eric is the man.
His is whats called foundational rhythmic bass playing. Without it, there's no music. He's an unsung genius
There is no Jane's without Eric. They were the GenX Led Zeppelin
Such a bad ass player. Nobody comes close.
one of my all time heroes Eric.
Also the comments on the Pete Wentz Precision video have been disabled
wow he is a genius this is inspiring....
1977 - '79? Sweet P. I play a '78 myself...
It's "Mountain Song" by Janes. It's off the Nothings Shocking record
I first heard it on the Dudes soundtrack before Jane's released Nothing's Shocking
Was never into Jane's addiction but this guy I like alot! And Fender P bass say no more!!
Is this the guy from the metallica audition video?
Yes
Right on
That's an awesome p bass.

Amazing bass player. The crappy old P Bass will be worth a mint someday :)
criminally under-appreciate bass player
How do ya make Chords FROM BassLines, please?
What year P bass? I wish they would always make a point of saying so. Some years matter!
Avery wanted to take a break from his tour with Garbage and do his own thing musically. Robin Finck just signed on to play bass for NIN.
i didn't know tobuscus could play bass
I'm smiling right now, and I don't know why.
^ "The Mingus of Indie Rock!" ^
Looks like the pickups were changed at some point to EMGs...
I wonder why he's not back with the band?
What bass is that in the background ?
its a 60th anniversary precision bass
thanks dude :)
no problem
i put strat knobs on my tele for the same reason he has the toys on his knobs
Eric is the secret weapon in JA. Sorry Dave!!
@TwistedSpeech Not the same isn't a bad thing.
Is it just me or does the neck look jazz profile?
+T Scott 70's P-Bass Profile. A bit thicker than a Jazz Bass
Billy Sheehans Wife bass is more battle scarred!
it is confirmed by trent himself..y not?
tobuscus plays in janes addiction?
NIN!
Finck playing bass?...weird...
JA No more sadly : (
great bass player who now plays for GARBAGE! nice.
not happening
Toy bass! Listen to the tone of the tone control! That's your numbers! Never seen a bass tone control with numbers!

What song is playing when the video comes on? Sounds like Readymade by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
