Great video. Very clear explanation and camera angles.
My ‘09 Element has this exact problem.
Will be fixing. Will replace belt and pulley “while I’m there”
The 3 most expensive words in auto and home repair 🤣
    Thanks again

Every single 2.4l K series has this problem. Or worse. The fittings on the power steering pumps have leaking o rings. And the pump itself will develop leaks. That require the pump to be taken apart and resealed.

I think I found the source of my oil leak. Thank you.

You forgot to mention the nut on the backside of the belt tensioner pulley that will fall out if you don't put a finger on it when removing the bolt and reinstalling the bolt.

Thanks man, I just bought an 09' Accord 2.4. The previous owner said that he just replaced the valve cover gasket, but there was still a lot of caked up oil near the front of the head, right where that little VTEC gasket is, which didn't make sense to me until now.
Previous owner only went to Honda dealers for repairs, so I don't understand why the dealer technicians didn't advise him to replace that little gasket, it doesn't make any sense, especially with all the caked-up oil gunk laying there right beneath it.
Anyway, now it's my job to do, your video not only shows me how to do it, but also shows me that it was there in the first place. Thanks a bunch!
I also ordered the spool valve gasket, and the VTEC solenoid as well, might as well do them all.

I had similar issue. Took to the dealer (don't have the means to do it myself at the moment) and had done a little research first. I was having oil buildup in the same area. They did end up replacing the spool valve assembly in the back but didn't even address the other spot I was worried about! Still having the issue and had them check it since still under warranty and they tried to tell me it was coming from the power steering pump. 😑 Looks like I'm doing it myself too

For sure, I wish I had that lamp setup, instead of the old drop-down lantern. At my age my eyes aren't what they used to be, seeing what you are working on is more than half the battle.

Just replaced my power steering hose today, didn't have to take off the heat shield mines lit out and I slid the new one in easy. The problem was getting the new fitting to clear the steering box. I removed the other line next to it on the steering box and It made it a lot easier. Nice vid 🙌🏽

I did the valve cover gasket, the vtec solenoid, and that one in the front. Now i believe the last leak is the oil filter gaskets. My tsx is at 240k i got it at 205k

Hi Donny! Was that a 1/4” drive ratchet you used at 7:34? Nice ratchet. What brand is that ratchet and where did you get it?

I have a 2011 Honda CRV LX all wheel drive. it does not say VTEC on the top of the motor is it the same filter/gasket, and the same location on the motor?

It is harder on the Element, the engine mount gets in the way. Also you have to move the power steering pump out of the way

hey mate, is it easy to put the tensioner and steering pump back? the tensioner goes first, right? Do you torque them after you gets the job done? Or just tighten it good with a ratchet? Because I dont have a torque wrench, my accord is from 2009 model, I suppose is the same steps. Thanks in advance

I've got a 2003 4 cylinder and it sounds like a diesel engine. It knocks like there's no oil, and i have to put a quart of oil in about every 500 miles. Do you think this is likely what I'll need to look at??
