It's surprising that this beautiful visual/ narrative story is not getting more views. It's one of the best PCT videos I've seen. I assume "low snow year" means 2022? Obviously not 2023, lol.
Thanks! I started this channel at the beginning of May, so it's just starting to grow 🙂 yeah, my thru-hike was last year in 2022... wild how different the snowpack was in my year vs. what it's like this year.
@@CaptainJackHikes Well, I hope you'll keep it up. I love the funky and yet thoughtful narration. I'm backpacking for dopamine, and didn't realize I could end up with beauty fatigue!
@@harrisonrakhshani4706 That's so awesome, I'm sure you'll have a blast. Wonder how much that record snow has melted, will be an interesting year to go through. I just did the CDT through Glacier NP this month, it was unreal. Heading to Baxter SP to do Katahdin in a few weeks.
Excellent work! I hiked the John Muir in 1993 and I still feel like it was the greatest thing I've ever done. It was fun to see all those places. I just love Grouse Meadow and le Conte canyon; I went back there two more times. I've had a bad back most of my life, but I had a good spell in the 80's & 90's and took advantage of it to do some great backpacking trips. By 2002 my back totally gave out on me and I had to quit, so do what you can while you can! I've had a few tough trips, but I never regretted doing any of them.
JMT in 93 sounds epic. Probably saw a lot less backpackers back then? Good on you for pursuing adventure despite the back. We’re only on this planet a short while, you make a great point… do and see the amazing things while you’re young and you can. You’ve given me the kick I needed to plan some more weeks in the woods soon.
oh shit, that group's pancake swag is next level also. I definitely did not swim enough. gotta go back! love the timelapse on Silver Pass and the ultralight LOTR trumpet serenade and the dance parties :)
You are so SILLY! and for that I subscribed.
Yessss! Shrek swamp!! Veto getting eaten alive by mosquitos in the Sierra is one of my favorite trail memories.
We all know they can't resist me.
It was the coolest special effect in the wilderness I've ever seen. Great job.

I love these! So well put together.
this needs waaaaay more views, confused to see it only at 1.7k
haha thanks... I'd like to think I'm one of the hidden gems out there in this strange content simulation we live in. You doing the PCT / JMT soon?
@@CaptainJackHikes I'm hitting the JMT sobo August 1! very excited! Are you doing any backpacking this summer?

Excellent! I was just a day or 2 behind you at this point. Great memories, thank you!
Grey Goose
Oh man, did we pass each other?
Great video Captain! I can't wait to binge the rest. I had almost forgotten the mosquito trauma.
Haha, me too. Sorry to trigger your memories. At least you know Nugget enjoyed watching. Hope you're well friend, where are you these days?

Loved that dance montage, great editing! You're a champion, hang in there Cap!
You are hilarious even when you're in a funk. 😂❤
I love sardonic humor when I'm frustrated... but also, when I was truly grumpy I didn't turn on the camera 🤫
What dates were you out there? What year?
3/29 - 9/19 last year in 2022… you?
Are you insane? Are you??
