Indicators (will not kink line):
Fly fishing for trout, fly fishing for Cutthroat in the Pacific Northwest has been a passion of mine for the last 40 years. I have spent most of my life fly fishing the great Pacific Northwest to include fly fishing in Alaska, fly fishing in Washington, fly fishing in Oregon, fly fishing in Idaho and fly fishing in Montana. I generally will fly fish and practice catch and release when fly fishing for trout, but I have been known to catch and cook during camping trips to many of my favorite fishing spots. I love to fly fish lakes in the higher elevation, though I have a few lowland lakes that are fly fishing only that are also on my most favorite list. I have a ton experience fly fishing rivers for trout and always enjoy discovering new rivers to fly fishing in and around the greater Pacific Northwest. I am also an accomplished at casting a fly rod - whether it is fly fishing casting for distance, fly fishing casting for accuracy, the double haul, roll cast, tower cast and many more fly fishing casting techniques - I can show you the basics when it comes to casting a fly rod. I also will cover many topics that relate to getting started with fly fishing. From your basic fly fishing setups, flies and fly boxes - we cover all the fly fishing needs for beginners. Thanks for taking the time to tune into FlyFishDan and I hope you consider subscribing to my fly fishing channel. Cheers and FISH-ON!!! Спорт
Sometimes I almost have just as much fun putting fly boxes together, and packing them with flies than as I do using them ;)
So very true! That's exactly what I did this afternoon prompting my fun vid :))
Dan that is a lot of flies. There is a place and time for each one.
I do have a bit of an obsession for sure :))
Amazing fly collection!!
Thanks!!
Are you tying or buying? I've got some decent buzzers/chironomids I could send your way if interested...
I have never really tied myself (something I want to do later on in life...) I support my local fly shops and purchase from them. Crazy to think; I've purchase flies from shops all around the U.S. - I have to stop by when I am anywhere local. Cheers!
I bet there is a bunch you never fished with! LOL... My sickness just started about a year ago
OMG...so right (I actually laughed out loud, because it's TRUE!!) So many that has never seen the end of my tapered leader...Lol
Beautiful. This is the type of thing that gets me going. Hahaha
You and me both!
If you had to pick one fly box which one would you recommend?
I do like Fishponds 'tacky' boxes
I feel your pain AND pocketbook!!!!
Lol. Love the music.
It's a classic! :))
How many of those boxes do you normally carry with you. Most of my flies I have tied myself. Mostly for warm water species. Many of which are larger than anything in those boxes. Although, I went to the Driftless Iowa trout region a few weeks ago and caught about 30 mostly browns. I had several more that were long distance released from barbless hooks. I did tie up some size 20 white mayflies after I got back, as they were hatching on Bear Creek.
Nice, sounds like you had a great outing! My friends would say that I carry all of them all of the time ;))
Which three do you use?
My go-to flies are the flashback pheasant tail, olive balanced leech and the brown TJ hooker.
I lost my one and only fly box 2 weeks ago with ALL my flies and searched wide and far and just couldn’t find it. 2 days ago my wife finds it in our closet on a shelf in plain view where I had searched everyday for the past 2 weeks. I’m starting to think I either have horrible searching skills or there’s a conspiracy amidst
Lol - great story. Thanks for sharing that!
Ok, I need more Flys now
predator soundtrack is deadly
I wondered if anyone would catch that :))
A classic film soundtrack. Only the most cultured of folks will recognize the music.
Not sure “Billy” would have spent much time appreciating the score.
I ain’t got time to listen.
I wondered who might recognize that - great minds…:D
To be honest? Yes.. yes you do.
I do have a lot of flies ;))
I’d take that bet, you don’t have enough fly boxes.🙄
hmmmm...I need to make a social media post so I can see what other have!
@@FlyFishDan I tie for my wife and I. Been fly fishing for forty years and tying for around 35 years. I have 6 boxes just for the South Platte, in Colorado. That river has it’s own challenges. We probably won’t get there this year, we’re going to Wyoming instead. I live just outside of Chicago. So I fish Wisconsin, Iowa and Michigan on a regular basis. Trout, Smallmouth and Steelhead. Have boxes set up for each, packs set up for each as well. It’s probably a good thing I’ve never fished saltwater. I could easily fish for three or four years without tying another fly. But what fun would that be. I love seeing other peoples fly boxes. You should do a video on what’s in your boxes. The first thing I do when I fish anywhere is hit a local fly shop and look for local flies, which usually work anywhere. When I get home, tie up a bunch. I would love to see your go to flies.
Does not look like it! Lol
I wish I could see your fly stash!
U hand tie em?
Just started :))
I’ve tied thousands but only use a couple proven ones for each species I’m after. 😂 Have a great Memorial Day weekend Dan! Thanks for all you do! (My comments are posting twice sometimes for some reason, if I delete one they both go away 🤔)
Thanks Charlie - I bet 80% of what I have in my boxes have never touched the water...Lol. No worries about the double comments, I'll respond to both! ;)) Cheers and have a good weekend too!
Çok tehlikeli...
Hiç tehlikeli değil, izlediğiniz için teşekkürler!
@@FlyFishDano işin latifesi, hepinize rastgele...
Do ya have enough yet? lol We all know the answer is no.
I know right? It's just going to keep going and going...I'll just keep buying more boxes!
Same! And I tie my own, so I have nobody to blame but myself
I bet you don't .....lol.
perhaps :))
It's not a matter of what you have it's wether or not they got eaten that day . I'm going to say I have better fly's than you maybe I know there bigger than yours haha
