Fish at the st. Lawrence River
👍👍
Kings gave you a free arm workout lol, nice work man glad to see you’re hitting fish down there
😅 Thanks Nate!
What are the steelhead regulations up that way? In Erie pa it's 3 fish with a minimum of 15" and no hook restrictions.
In the Niagara river it's a 3 fish mixed limited, 3 trout/ salmon in any combination, and no more than 2 lake trout I think. Also it's 21" for steelhead and 15" for everything else. And a couple other things I forget
A little tip is to keep changing the angle of the rod. It throws their balance off.
Interesting, I'll I have try that next time...
Love your adventures, nice you can fish with your Dad. Question:what type of net do you use. It has such a great long handle.
Thanks Dennis! The net is the EGO Kryptek s2 slider👍
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo thank you for helping out a new comer to the steelhead scene. Love your post.
No problem! Good luck this season!
Lucky. I miss fishing, but near blind now, so water isn't good to be too close to lol 😅
yes definitely stay away from the river at all costs, and the steering wheel😂
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo took licence away in 2009, so safe on that 1. You go get me some and video them, will be close enough
@@dn744 Don't worry man, plenty more vids coming just for you!
@@OutsidersOutdoorCo Sweet. Then you can do my fishing while I stay dry and watch. Rather be saturated fishing if I had a choice 😆 Make the most of it, you don't know when life can go wrong like it did for me. Terminal now, 5 years ish they say. I ask you MAKE THE MOST OF IT, enjoy all you can, while you can, enjoy your family time, its more precious than you realise. 🐟
Words to live by, thank u my friend 👍🎣
Was downriver from there this past weekend fishing off the shore not far from the bridge...reeled in a king and one steelhead on spoons and spinners. I noticed the boats drifting farther upriver closer to the power authority were hooking into steelhead pretty consistently. The steelies should be in there in larger numbers in the upcoming weeks. I use medium 10-20 lb rods on that river with heavier braid tapered down to lighter weight fluoro...makes things a little easier to reel in those lunkers that I've otherwise lost on lighter rods and lower weight lines. Viz was high this past weekend but I'm betting it's lower viz now with all the rains we had the past few days.
Yeah the steelhead we're plentiful upriver, my dad hit down stream a couple days ago and like you, he said the boats were pulling in the salmon every drift. Gotta hit the river soon, lower vis should be good👍
I'd recommend going in with a slightly heavier rod if you have one. The center pin set up seems fine but the rod your dad was using was on the light side. Don't want his rod snapping off if he hooks into another larger king! Salmon action has tapered off somewhat in the 2nd half of Oct but there are some in there. Browns and Steelies should be moving in though. If I catch you guys on the river I'll donate some Red Eye wigglers and spinners...have tons of them (my great grandfather invented and patented them originally so I inherited a bunch). I'd like to get some Red Eyes into the hands of some local RUclipsrs in hopes that you'll get video of reeling in a nice game fish on one of them.
@@ChrisG9978 For sure man gonna have to look into a new rod for him lol. Yeah thats pretty cool that your great grandpa invented those, if I see you down there ill give ya some of my homemade spinners too!
PM me when you're headed to the lower Niagara again and we'll figure something out at some point. I will be out in the Olcott area later this afternoon. I think the pier is still closed off but usually find a spot not far from there.
👍👍 good luck!
Great contents bro, what rod your dad used? if you dont mind.
Thanks, it's the daiwa acculite 11 ft 6👍
How long is the fishing platform open until though the year?
It's open until December 1st (weather permitting)
I was waiting for your pops rod to snap!
Me too!😂
Man I wish I was there I had a hard time with my centerpin this year I had to get out the spinning reel and then I landed more fish, the kings would break me off with when I used my pin
I feel ya bill, I lost plenty of kings this year on the pin, sometimes it's nice to have that drag with the spinning reel👍
Curious as if this was yesterday October 26th? Heading to the gorge this week and wondering the status of the VIS in the water. Nice fish!
Thanks Paul, it was about a week and a half ago, not sure how it's looking now, but the fish are definitely in now so good luck👍🎣
