WOW! Great!! I buy yarn on shop goodwill quite a bit but lately I’ve not been having good luck and I only buy the lower priced popular yarn but I was able to get a 15 pound box of all brand new skeins. Keep up the good work.
Um WHAT. That was so fun. I am so glad that I found you! It feel like I just found a new friend! I’ve not been diagnosed but suspected for ten or twelve years that I was on the spectrum. I have two younger brothers who are. Also, I LOVE yarn and crocheting. (That’s what I do while I watch your videos haha!) Also, I sing everything! My degree is in music and I do community musical theatre but I also just break out into song all the time! (Sometimes drives my littles crazy 😂) So I sing along with your intro…🤗 Anyway, have a great day! And PLEASE show us what you make with that prism yarn at the end! ❤
Ok, now i finished the video! I don't have words for it... ohhhmyyyygooooshhhh! This is so beautiful! The rainbow one is my favorite... sorry for spaming it is just ... woooowwww
Hi Claire! What fun this was! I love thrifting yarn, and as a knitter (I love crochet, but not very good at it) I am always thinking about my next project. I loved watching and rejoicing with you over these gorgeous yarns.
That was super fun and entertaining! So amazing! Could you take some of the piaro and make a wall hanging? The ones where you tie strands to a dowel…..am I explaining that ok? Also have you done a hexagon cardigan yet?? If you haven’t check it out, I’m working on one now. I think this is great because it can be applied to any collectable autonomy GW. Thanks Claire!
That colourlab deep teal, and the multi that goes with it, are gorgeous. Can't wait to see what you do with that. It's always so nice to get up in the morning and see what Claire's up to. ☀️
That was like watching that trick where all the clowns come out of the car... Every time I thought that had to be all the yarn, I was wrong. 🤣 I'd knit a sweater for my two-year-old daughter out of that gorgeous deep green yarn. I knit a sweater for each of my brother's two daughters for the occasion of their first ever day of school, but now that I have kids of my own, I didn't do that for them (my two boys), and I don't know why. My ten-year-old might wear something I knit, but my five-year-old is super picky about what he'll put on and he doesn't like anything thick or soft. My daughter still wears whatever I decide to put on her. We'll see how long that lasts.
Yeah, pin looms can be homemade in any size : ) I have seen some really cool videos of large versions of these that use recycled t-shirts to make "pot-holder rugs". Wall art, whether rya rugs/ and/or latch hook, macrame, tapestries, etc can really get creative, too. I have also enjoyed learning about the eclectic/ accessible/ imperfect "saori" weaving from Japan, though it involves a more involved loom.
I don’t fancy yarn arts, but watch these videos at 2x speed (which is entertaining) to make YT Al happy and get you more watch hours on your channel. Btw, I enjoyed the lizard comment.😂
Another great score $850 bucks of yarn for $48 is awesome. I was kind of worried there would only be one offs in there. But very pleased to see enough skeins to get at least a sweater out of it. All of the fiber in one color way I would say that might have been bought by someone with a weaving loom to make a wall hanger with. That’s what I would use it for anyway.
Brava to you for thrifting! I used to shop at Goodwill, too, until a couple of years ago when I discovered the Big Cheeses at GW make somewhere between $200 thousand and 1 million dollars per year (depending on what internet search you do). I also found out that employees with disabilities are often paid less than minimum wage (as low as 22 cents per hour), whistleblowers have been fired, and safety issues have led to tragedy. Now my fave thrift store is The Humane Society Thrift Store, also the fave of all our town which voted it the Best Thrift Store - even against GW! We also have thrift stores for hospice, Teen Challenge, and other local charities. I try to be even more ethical about where my little money goes.
Or, you can see if it dissolves in small capful of bleach, it might be a blend or 100% natural fiber. Polyester/ acrylic tends to withstand a soak more. ( Of course, just like fire safety, proceed with caution, away from materials and creatures that could be harmed, - but be sure to keep it ventilated so your lungs are safe, too.)
You did well. I scored a box of about 25 chunky paintbox yarn for $25 at a salvation army. I haven't tried the goodwill site. My local goodwill over priced the random yarn they put out. I have a large stash from varies clearance hauls. I'm trying not to purchase yarn these days.
Yes so many places overpriced crappy yarn but then when they get special yarn it’s cheap - I would say this is a great resource as long as the shipping and handling doesn’t make it crazy
I know nothing about yarn, but I'm stoked you got such a good deal. On an unrelated note, I remember you encouraging me to stop trying to make my first video perfect forever ago, and I just posted my first one on my dedicated channel @JordanTheForeign. Thanks for the encouragement, it's really helped me to get to the place where I can look at myself on video and not NOPE out of recording/editing lol. Please note that I didn't really edit the video at all. Editing time will come once people are actually watching xD.

Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder isn't it because that unspun yarn looks like someone puked it up to me with after a hard night of drinking
The Dazzle Aire is a very old yarn. I made something with it years ago. I can’t remember what ❓ it was a cheapie yarn that wasn’t even worth remembering 😂
Great find! Thanks for sharing the website. I didn’t know it was available.
You’re very welcome make sure to check out part 2 where I go over best practices for using the site

A pink elephant 🐘 would be adorable!
That is a cute idea!
WOW!!! CRAZY AMAZING!!!❤
Right? I couldn't have imagined there would be so much in the box.
…also you could make/get a loom and make wall art out of the artisan yarn
Good idea

i haven't but thanks for sharing this hack i hadn't thought of it before

thank you tracy it was an amazing haul
Claire - unknown yarn - cut a sample piece off and light it/burn it - you'll soon learn how to tell what is what.
That’s a good tip!

Hi Claire, there is currently some malabrigo yarn on the site for the next hour if you are interested. I'm in Canada so I can't bid on it!
oh wow I just checked! unfortunately the price is pretty step for me right now
