hey bro you sell the part for like $240 sold out btw and the japan one goes for like $94. What the heck? also its out of stock for us built models so you dont have the trunk latch in stock bro. Thank you.
Thank you! This video saved me a lot of money and time! Repair shop quoted me almost $500 parts and labour. I was able to get the OE part close to dealer price and fix it myself in less than 10 minutes.
Great video! Saved us $150 in labor costs , we opted not to spend the extra money on the keyless lock version since we don’t really use the fob anyway.
I’d like to give a couple of tips that aren’t mentioned in the vid tho.
1) When you go to put the cover back on , you should separate the “buttons” . Once you get the base back in , the center button will click back in to make it secure.
2) if you find that your key isn’t unlocking the lock , it means you need to twist the arm so that the bent part of it is pointing up towards the trunk. This makes the arm shorter so that the lock will release.
We learned this through trial and error so I figured I’d save y’all’s time and frustration.

Hi all, I have a tip. My trunk release from inside the car wouldn’t work. My brother and I took out the trunk liner and were looking at the assembly. We tested the cable from the trunk release latch inside the car on the floor and it was working. We then looked at the assembly and we couldn’t figure out why the cylinder assembly that connects to the rod wouldn’t engage fully when we pulled the interior latch. What we discovered after using the key and watching the assembly work was that the key slot had to be vertical when you remove the key. My trunk lock was in the horizontal position. This prevented the trunk release latch inside the car from releasing trunk. I’m not sure if this is a security feature or if my lock cylinder Is wonky. Basically if the lock is horizontal , and someone breaks your window to release the trunk it won’t open. Good luck.
+Karen D Thanks for the tip!
Hi, I replaced the cable and the trunk release latch and it still would not open from the inside. What am I missing here?
Easy to install but I can't open the trunk remotely with the key as I did with the old latch.
I need to remove the thing just above back number plate. The longish plastic bar that has the toyota emblem as well as covers the backplate light. I was able to pop out one side - there is a white cliip - but I dont see anythign on the other side to pop out. Any ideas?
I simply asked for help with a 2003 year model and I get everything else for all kinds of cars except the one I asked for.
Would this work the same for 2007 toyota yaris? Nice video
+micheal brown Thanks for checking us out! This will be a similar installation for the parts. 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
what about the trunk release cable
All 13 push clips were broken. Couldn’t use any. How were you able to reuse them. Used similar tool to pop them out.
Do you have a video for a 2013 Camry?
Changed mine but I have to slam the trunk for it to catch. any idea how to adjust it so i dont have to slam the trunk? lol
How to get to the trunk release latch ! Trunk won’t open only access trunk by the back seat behind cups holder tiny window
Need help how to hit the release switch thingy to open the trunk frm the back seat
Can't old part be fixed? Why need new one?
I am having a hard time finding a replacement for the lock cylinder. I don't need a new cylinder necessarily but I need the entire assembly because the little groove (if you can call it that) that holds the trunk cable bent over time and the cable falls out. How can I search for it? Thanks in advance!

Would this work for a 2003 Avalon. Thanks!
+Pat Smith This procedure might be different for your application. We do not currently have a how-to video for this particular year, make and model. Thank you for asking! 1AAuto.com
2010 Lexus ES 350?
What's the tool you use to remove the two 10mm bolts?
And do you have a video on how to check/fix a Toyota Corolla trunk cable? The trunk opens with the key, but the lever by the driver's seat doesn't "click" or catch anymore.
What's the name of the parts where the latch rod is attached to? The parts is in 1:31
How do you get the Metal rod into the actuator motor. mine doesn't have a new control rod. I'd like to know before I tear it apart, Thank you.
I have the same doubt. How can I remove the metal rod from the old latch actuator to replace it with the new one?
where is the cable release connected?? My key stuck in the open position and now I have no pressure on the cable release.
Hi I'm trying to find a video on how to replace a trunk lid I can't find one anywhere are able to help or do have a link I could go to.
+Tani Heta Great question! Check out our library for more videos here: 1aau.to/m/video-library-c
Do you have the trunk lock cylinder for my toyota Corolla 2013?
+Raul Elias Thank you for your inquiry. We do not currently carry that part, we would suggest searching www.partfinder.com or eBay motors. 1aauto.com
How do you get the key less entry to work with the new latch?
+Rajaey Kased The truck latch should just be a plug-and-play application, so you do not need to do any reprogramming! 1aauto.com
What about 2007 toyota yaris?
I do everything step by step but the trunk no close, I think maybe is another issue, some clue ?
Same problem what did you do to fix it?
Litterally 5 min job including watching video instead of the 385$ + 2 h of service quoted by Toyota. I will never buy a Toyota again.
Thank you
Toyota are fantastic cars....your quoted price is stock standard whenever you go back to any Manufacturer car yard...
hi friend, are you interested in installing electric trunk to the vehicle? We would like to cooperate with you.
What is that part called the link isn’t there
+Bett_cc Thank you for checking us out! The item in this video is the trunk latch assembly.
Is it the same for a 2011 camry?
For some reason my 2011 has a second wire cable that connects to an assembly inside the unit. Didn't see that in this video
tomas gaspar no. There is extra wire I don’t know how to disconnect
Yes. I think so
I did all the instructions and my lid still won't latch. Probably a bad replacement. Honda's looking better all the time.
If you buy cheap junk parts you get what you pay for.
What did you do to fix it?
I replaced the trunk latch assembly and it still won't stay shut
Thank you!
