I made this compilation to make it easier for people to find all of these stories. These are all clips from interviews I've done over the last year or so. Feel free to send a link to your favorite Waylon fan. I made a similar video a couple of years ago and people seemed to really enjoy it. Here it is in case you missed it. ruclips.net/video/hux7VZe4EHc/видео.html
Fantastic collection of intimate portraits from those who knew Waylon far better than most . Thanks for taking us along on the journey of a memorable lifetime .
Thank you Otis for putting all this together I really enjoyed listening. I met Waylon for the first time when I was only 15 years old. I absolutely ❤Waylon and I reckon I always will. Gosh I miss him. Rip ole friend.
Jerry Lee Lewis played my junior high school in Lebanon, indiana. Hit me up for the story, Otis. My first Waylon show was at the Indy Coliseum in Nov. 1967. Among the headliners were Tammy, Merle, Waylon (all three who were just really beginning to take off), Tompall and the Glaser Bros., Jim Ed Brown (post Browns), Hank Snow, and Don Gibson. Those WIRE shows were the best!
If you didn't drive him to or from, we don't really care. You just told the whole story. He came you saw the end. Congratulations on seeing it. But the story we want is a bit more information than you bought a ticket and he played these songs.
@@smsnc20, how about the fact I lived across the street from the school and Jerry Lee tried picking up my sister after the show? Jerry Lee's appearance was announced just hours before the show.
@mountaintyme2000 there was this one time I was in north Carolina and I seen airforce one fly by. I'm going to contact the Smithsonian next week to document it.
Must've been an amazing show. I'm glad you shared about it. Pay no mind to these miserable lumps responding to you. They don't feel right unless they can rain on somebody's parade.
thank you so very much for gettimng all this great history otis again and time again god bless you always otis you are truly appreciated thank you lee cruz itruly love his music he is truly missed your the best bro
Had Thanksgiving dinner at Waylons secretary's house in 1977. Waylon, Ray Price, David Alan Coe and Terry Jennings. Terry back his new Trans AM into someone's car that day. He came in and said " who's car i just hit? That's my dad Waylon, we'll get your car fixed. We don't need to call the police.
In a recent interview with Chris Shiflett from the Foo fighters, Keith Urban said his wife bought him Waylon Jennings Tele from an auction. You should check it out.
Brother Otis, if i remember correctly Hank Sr's boots was givin to ol Hoss by Hank Jr, n your correct the tree fell on Waylons new Cadillac Eldorado, but Waylon said it didn't hurt it, couple guys there at the recording studio help move it off the car. Love ol Hoss, you ever get to Nashville id love to get together with ya.. Frank...
Billy Joe shaver had big respect for Waylon’s traveling with tnt😂. Me too. Why people would try to screw over Jennings and David Allen coe of all people is bizzare. Absolutely love these interviews, usually download and listen off grid but beach one is a gem and very important.💚🙏🏻
Stuff like that happens because the business of promoting shows and running venues tends to attract a lot of real sleazy types who aren't quite clever enough to be used car salesmen.
AND WHAT OF THE PROMOTER THAT ASKED WAYLON TO PLAY THE NIGHT BUDDY HOLLY DIED,THEN SHOWED WAYLON THE CONTRACT THAT STATED THE BUDDY HOLLY WAS SUPPOSED TO APPEAR.,THE SCUMBAG USED THE CONTRACT TO NOT PAY WAYLON (& CO.) I THINK THIS STORY WAS TOLD HERE SAYING THAT WAYLON WAS SPEAKING TO TEENS ABOUT THE MUSIC BUSINESS,WAYLON USED THE STORY TO ILLUSTRATE THE MUSIC BUSINESS. PATHETIC PPL. ARE EVERYWHERE. Smuggler's Blues: "You got to carry weapons, 'cause you always carry cash." That applies when people are paying you in cash, too. The thing to remember about promoters and venue owners is, that business tends to attract a lot of real sleazy types who aren't quite clever enough to be used car salesmen. So some weird shit is gonna happen now and then.

I read somewhere that Waylon got saved before he died. Happy thanksgiving everyone
Waylon talked about all that in his autobiography. There's even an audio version of him reading the entire thing on youtube.

Crawfordsville! Played there a few times in the late 70s, early 80s
Mental Note: never mess with David Allan Coe
Ward, you are exactly on point. Very perilous times, and patriots need to be prepared.
