  • We're back to the Capo Ferro plates with plate 16 this time around.
You may be wondering what about plate 15, in this plate Capo Ferro goes over some very important considerations regarding the stringere which we will cover later in the series. We figured if we translated that into video at this point would possibly cause some confusion since he often refers to the postures by letters but then says that the proper way to stringer would be in specific postures which don't reflect what we see illustrated.
For example, he mentions that to properly stringer on the outside this should be done in seconda with the tip of the sword pointing to the opponent's left shoulder, and in this plate 16 he has the figure stringering in terza on the outside for the sake of clarity, this is also one of the reasons why we chose to have the guards represented exactly as the plate describes as it also makes it easier not only to keep the sequence coherent from other plates and also going forward, but also for the viewer to then later on translate to the proper posture as Capo Ferro intended.
We hope you find this useful and we'll see in you plate 17.

I find that Thibault tends to cancel out Capo Ferro. Don't you?
