- What color is this Nintendo Switch!? In some lighting it looks orange or even pink. I wish Nintendo took the theme more seriously. It's still a pretty cool set!

NOTE: All other joy-con look terrible on this switch! It only looks good with the included red ones. If you buy this switch you buy it to only use with these joycon. All my other colors clash horribly!
Also, working on a longer term review for the S21 Ultra. I haven't forgotten about phones.
How does the screen on your red and blue mario switch compare to your other units? Is it as bright as the OG screens that lean more on blue tones versus yellow?
It's actually the best screen I have lol! But another one could be awful.
My Mario switch screen has a good screen where white with max brightness is white but its not the brightness switch screen I've seen but I play indoors so it shouldn't matter
Do neon blue ones look good on it ?
I’m wondering if it would look good with two neon blue joycon. That’s prob about it. And Gray. Those two colors might look ok…
The dock should be the color scheme of Mario’s overalls

It’s a separate part made separately! That’s why all of the black stuff on there is black
its probably so if the kickstand breaks they dont need to sell more red ones or something, thats my idea.

Agreed. It fits Mario’s colours and simple outfit, but idk why people are saying this looks so awesome. It’s so basic and bland lol. At least the worst special edition

The joycon straps look as a whole mario theme, with the blue and yellow details, would've been nice also to have it in the grip, like just 2 yellow dots, much like Mario's yellow buttons. ♥
I do hope that for Diamond/Pearl remakes they bring out some special edition Switch ♥
I would've liked to see more blue added to the back of the joycons, and possibly some blue on the switch and Dock.

I was just thinking the exact same thing! With the console itself being all red like that, you can’t mix and match the joy cons too well. Whereas the black console... you can because black basically goes with anything.
Very helpful review to be able to see it in real light and compared to the other reds. Spot on, love the Pokeball 2DS, Ferrari red is a great description. I didn't know the red was a bit off on this Switch you helped a lot.
It's my favorite version of the Switch, personally. I love the red border around the screen and how the whole thing is one color. And I like that it doesn't have some overly intricate design.
Not interested in this console at all but this is a must watch if ericas covering it!

I got the Mario Switch today. My old Switch had a bunch of fan problems and the sides were scratched up. Am glad I got this one.

Was so excited to FINALLY see a different color Switch....but Nintendo always finds a way to botch it. I agree, there should’ve have been more thought into implementing Mario on the console and dock, like they’ve done with other special edition switches.

I’m in love with it! I love the borders and the all red dock. Even love the black kickstand since buttons are black.
I love it too! The one thing is I do wish the kickstand was red but I’m not mad about it.

Just have a Nintendo switch and a switch lite no planing on buying anything anymore. I being 5 years no even buying the animal edition or this. One. When I first saw this edition, I kind of regretted getting the Animal Crossing Switch (I bought it during its 2nd wave, so only a couple months before this edition was announced). However, after seeing this vid, I'm much more content w/ my decision. I love dark red consoles, and this is much more red-orange than I initially imagined. Also, while other joy-con colors don't always match my AC dock well, they do look fine with the Switch itself in portable mode since it has that neutral border.
Top half of your 2DS looks like an older smartphone. Just break it off & make a call. Lol. Love it.
I got this switch yesterday and honestly don't understand all the hate. Its a beautiful red, and it is well working. It was worth every penny.
Just don't try to use any other joycon with it because the colors will clash, unfortunately

I agree that it would be nice to be able to use other joycons but I do really like the red bezel with the red joycons
the red borders look great and the red/blue tones are better than any of the other joycons. I'm also glad that there is no silly art on this one like the Fortnite and Animal Crossing versions. I basically disagree with everything you said. lol
I really would have liked to have a little design in the back like the animal Crossing Switch, but I do appreciate the lack of branding on this. I’m not the biggest Mario fan, so where I would like a design, I’m happy that this switch really has nothing to do with Mario.
Only thing is I wish the kickstand was red. But I understand why it’s not.

I want these so bad :( I ordered mine but the supplier canceled all of the the shop's orders because of the current situation in my country and the shop phoned me this morning saying the orders are canceled all of a sudden and the supplier cut of contact or something and they said they can give me another edition as a compensation so I sadly had to take the Animal Crossing Edition. :(

I like the red trim. I agree that they did get lazy and not do anything on the back though
the body is painted red on the inside as well. what you think of the monster hunter console looks like a lot of effort in this limited edition

All agree with you! Nintendo should've put some iconic mario graphics in the back of the console, also the red color is not too red, I find it next to pink instead of red Ferrari. Great video!

The battery is better! But I will say with my animal crossing switch I noticed the screen is warmer than the first day switch
The case is adorable but I prefer one with a handle. If I get this edition, I might just keep the case as a collector's item. I have a GORGEOUS galaxy-themed case for my Switch that is quite durable and has a handle.
At first I said no way in hell is this pretty, then overtime, and in comparison to the different versions, I find it great.
Yes, it lacks some details like you said, some stars on the Switch itself or Mario themed stuff, or why not his signature mustache right on the joycon logo of the switch? Would be great.
The joycons and straps are beautiful, but the rest is kind of lazy.
I think Nintendo wanted to cut on costs mostly so it can retail for the same price as the standard switch and be sold, hence no Mario games pre-loaded or included...

So yeah, if you overlook that, it's not half bad, really. It's kind of better than having to go with what everyone else own. A little uniqueness :))
For me, I love the red frame, much welcome change from the normal black.
I almost took mines back because to me it felt like a switch lite , but I decided to stick with it since I sold my old version 2 switch to get this special edition one
Can you please do an update on your 85" TV? How are black levels when watching anamorphic movies in the dark? My OLED TV doesn't get bright enough, but I really dont want to lose those true blacks

The latest rumor is that there are new screens being produced this year which means we might have an updated Switch by the end of this year or next.
I'd prefer if the joycons were blue so there would be more contrast when hooked up to the console and dock. Make the joycon grip red instead.
Hey can you try using an old Xperia X8 for a week? It's a 2010 smartphone and I wonder what you can still do with it today.
Also a little hint: Android Market is not supported for phones lower than Gingerbread so you will have to use 3rd party sites to get .APK's to install some really old versions of apps that support Android 2.1.
I don't really care that much about mario but red is my favorite color and I've been waiting an eternity for a red switch so I went on and snatched one and I gotta say I love it.
The only complaint is that the screen is a bit yellowish compared to my old switch

@@switchunboxing Yes it was. Honestly I was a bit upset at first but stopped noticing once i got used to it and tbh it actually looks better than the old one.

Orange ish that’s exactly what I said!! Also I agree the neon red JoyCon still wins. Although I really do like the understated design of this edition. I really like the design on the case and I would’ve liked to see that subtly on the back of the switch similarly to how they did the Animal Crossing version. I think they really wanted to make a system that could appeal to people even if they are not fans of Mario, and I think they did a good job on that end. The kickstand is black because it’s a separate part.
I managed to get the only one left within a 300 mile radius in my area omg I impulsively bought it....ifs okay though I was able to sell my blue and red switch I bought 3 months prior to offset the cost.
The dock should have been blue (like Mario 's overalls) and maybe white joycons with gold/yellow buttons.
I wanted it to but I have my switch and i think waist of money if already have one but for collectors I understand

I have a question, back when you upgraded your husband’s switch, you swapped the motherboards and all i want to know is if swapping them lost some save data or account data.

Couldn't you take apart and swap the back shells of the mario edition switch with the original switch to have the screen be a black border and back of it be red?

I haven't seen the Red and Blue Edition in person (and prolly won't since my own Switch is less than a year old); and while I do disagree with your thoughts on the red border on the front, I also believe a Mario graphic or two on the Switch itself would not have been a bad thing. Would not turn one down if it was given to me, though! :D
The screen itself should always be the default switch one, having it colored just doesn’t look good and shows the bezels even more in my opinion

I actually think the front plate should have been blue and the analog sticks and buttons should have been yellow. I don't really like the color of the console so that's what kept me from buying it
