I've been an old-school eacher (and a student, of course) and appreciate excellent teaching. I've used basic Excel but been frustrated because I I didn't know how to manipulate the data to make it useful. And been afraid of databases for perhaps a generation thinking it was only for the tech-savvy. I'm more than impressed with the quality of teaching in this video. All the essentials and no attempt to impress with jargon. Excellent! Thanks. Now I feel that I have hope.
I took a computer class years ago, in my undergrad program, at which time I learned how to use Access. I wasn't good in the computer class, only getting a low C. =) I remember thinking, "I will never use this." Well, fast forward over 15 years later and about 5 business in, here I am. =) Thanks for this tutorial! It was a great help! =)
I consider myself to be a visual learner, but have only found books in the past about Access. I have very specific data needs at times and it has been very difficult to articulate those to others to build a database for me. Today, after watching this video, it clicked for me. Thank you so much for posting and sharing your expertise.
I am about as dumb as it gets when it comes to computers and even I was able to do this! You are an incredible teacher and this will help tremendously if I follow through with my business
The last time I fooled around with a relational database was back in 1991 on an Amiga 2000, and though I understood the concepts, it was more work than I had time to give it (the Gulf War opened up, a busy time), so I shied away from them. I've had Access on my computers for over a decade, but I've never had enough incentive to check it out. Now I have an incentive and ended up watching this video. I hadn't realized that it had gotten this easy. Thanks for the video lessons and I'll probably be around a good bit more.
@@599CD Yeah. It could out-Mac a Mac and out-PC a PC, all at the same time. If the business world had not followed Microsoft, we really would be driving flying cars about now.
Great video! Although I'm an experienced Access programmer, I never fail to learn things even from your beginner videos, little nuggets that I never knew before.
Great to hear! I, too, pick up little tips and tricks from other Access experts from time to time. There's a few blogs I subscribe to. I'll be sure to check out your channel. Looks like you've got some cool stuff on there. Always happy to make new connections. Cheers!
Thank you so much! I actually paid to go through this course many years ago and then never actually used access. Many years later I am now using my software for my own business and I needed to remember how... I found your vid and just watching this one, I can tell you It is absolutely amazing because it was so much easier to accomplish following your video than I remember going through it in class (and I paid alot of money for that course). Much appreciated! I will definitely be checking out your other videos and your website. Feeling very grateful over here! Thank you for creating this!!!
Thank you very much Richard Rost. This is the first time I've watched an access clss online without being confused. I've just learnt how to design a simple data base and create the relationship with the tables.
Just started watching your videos but I already learned a lot. Thanks for explaining it very well. Your videos are really good for people who are just starting with access. May I just ask, have you already made a tutorial on how to make relational databases? I mean the one with 1 to 1, 1 to many, many to many relationship.
its an amazing presentation and straight to the point, I have been struggling to develop a customer table using excel with VBA but it has turnout to be very difficult . However Microsoft access has made it very easy following your tutorial. Its a great presentation keep it up.

This is most useful video and easily understand. and with step by step focus every point... Richard sir I hope that my problem will solve you,my problem it. I want to clear Text field, desired clear text box.i n access. Thank you....
Amazing guide..followed every step and the result are very much neat!!!after creating the form, edited all the info i want, are the data saved where i can go back and review a customer even after closing access?
Great video. How do you start the customer ID with a number I supply? I want to start with the number 6987 not 1. And I also want to migrate a database, but I am taking baby steps.
Great video , a question please, what's the quick difference between a customer table and a customer form ? Could you explain for a beginner, thank you ..
Thanks for this video, I found it incredibly useful. I wanted to know if there was any way of connecting Access to my outlook calander to receive alerts for when the next visit is due?
I had a question? lets say i want a person to walk in and there is a monitor with just a box that says enter client id: person enters client id and on my computer it would show weather or not if they had a file? if they did a file would show up with there demo graphics? is this something that can be done on this tutorial
This has been so helpful. Thank you. I have a really silly question which is: We invite people to events and so I'm not sure if I should add a field for this on the main form where we hold people's details or create some other kind of table which can eventually link up to the main form? Any help would be much appreciated. Kind regards, Jae
anyway to build a tracking system on top of this? i work with a customer balance owing type of model and would like to be notifed when a customer hasnt cleared that balance in 30+ days
Richard, thanks for your videos. I have about 1,000 contacts that I keep on spreadsheets. Every 6 months I have 150 contacts where I collect all their information including one or two field updates in a spreadsheet. Would changing to an Access database allow me to easily import the new data into an Access database that will not create a duplicate contact? Thanks!!!
Hello sir Sir you're really nice... Sir can you help me to create complaint management software using access with with pending and complete complain functionality?
Hi Mr. Richard, good day to you. I have a several question, can we add field in the form which not list in the table? and how we want to create pop up form to see the customer details just by clicking the customer name from the table listing? Please advise.
I am trying to add a customer ID # to my database in Access. I have chosen "Autonumber" but when I go to my Forms it doesn't start at 1 and go up it assigns random numbers to each new customer page. How do I fix this?
You have the property set to Random instead of Incremental. And don't worry about the actual number it's on. That number is for Access. NOT YOU. See 599cd.com/AutoNumbers
it was helpful., however, my customer table., after double clicking and start to input the data the Customer ID was started in #2 instead of #1. help me with this....really appreciate it!
