Hi Dick - thanks for posting that - used to live in the Highlands, now I live in Ohio so nice to see some recent shots. Used to play in Highland LL and went to the Daley. Remember the "stairs to nowhere" where the Lowes is now? We used to call those "stair way to Heaven". Thanks again.
I also remember the stairs on chelmsford street, there used to be two stairs but they took one away at some point. Grew up in the plain street housing project, in the 80's worked at Wang Labs towers....now in Phoenix, much better weather....
Started my education at Pine St School, then to Morey School, then to Daley Jr High and then "Kirk St Prep" . Took the "T" to downtown when time to go to Kirk St Prep.. Walked to the other schools.
I went to the Morey School in 1970-1973 Mr. Abraham was the Principal. I would walk to school from my house on Pine Street (which, btw... is haunted! 798 Pine.... Seriously! There is an evil presence in that house!!) I'm in WA now, and when I visited 2 yrs ago, I was apalled that they destroyed the school! they could have saved a huge piece of history and updated it! The new school is ugly. Lowell is updating, great.. but don't rip down our heritage!
I remember those days oh so well and I agree with you. Except for upper Belvider the upper Highlands was the best area in the city. I lived in the highland area on and off from the 70'sthrough the 80's. Moved back many years later, it was so different and awful, didn't take long for hubby and I to move out permanently for better places. In North Central Massachusetts now, what a difference!

Thank you! This brought me a lot of memories from all the years I lived in the highlands. Nice to see it after so many years I left the U.S.

Too bad you couldn't show the Highlands the way it was before the Asian INVASION. Was such a nice place to live before that.
