User Review: We made this for dinner tonight, and I thought I'd give my impressions. We couldn't find the Plowboys Bean Buddy locally, so we ordered a couple of jars from ATBBQ. Sampling it straight from the jar, it has a great flavor and texture. We followed the recipe pretty closely. We used 1.3 pounds of 80% beef and 0.7 pounds of pork sausage. Total cooking time on my Yoder 480'was right around 1.5 hours. The results were fantastic. We had four people eating, and everyone loved it. Nice and juicy inside and a great glaze on top. With some self restraint, we have a good amount of leftovers. This would be easy to double if you're feeding a larger crowd. Delicious dish. Minimal prep time. Free time to work on sides or visit with guests while it's smoking. I'd give it 5 out of 5 flames.

Ok. Made this yesterday. A bit bigger (whole think around 2kg). We almost ate it all for a dinner (3 adults and 2 kids) - it was so delicious.
Used different bbq sauce and rub, but it turned out amazing anyway!

Chef Tom, I made this meatloaf yesterday (7-25-20) but modified it a bit as I eat keto. I used a 50-50 mixture of ground pork and ground venison, pork rinds instead of bread crumbs, and ketchup instead of BBQ sauce. I smoked it with hickory at 250 degrees F for an hour and then transferred it to my oven as my Masterbuilt Smoker is limited to 275 degrees F. 30 minutes at 350 degrees F in the oven brought it to finish and the result was the best meatloaf I have ever made. Thanks for the recipe and for the effort you put into the videos. Darlington, South Carolina
This is in my top 10 meals all time. We make it 30% Elk, 30% beef, 25% ground pork and 15% jimmy Dean hot sausage. Add an extra egg if tripling. Add 1 TBSP Bovine Bold to the mix in addition to the bark. Then serve it with VERY thin mashed potatoes with butter and half and half. It's just stupid good. Thank you Chef Tom!
Just made this tonight with a few modifications. Wow! Great recipe! Thanks ATBBQ and Chef Tom!! Definitely making this agin. In case anyone wants to try this without the sauce used in the video, I used sweet baby rays when forming the loaf and made a ketchup, brown sugar and worcestershire sauce for glaze. Also, it adds quite a bit of time on the cook if you prep the loaf and put it in the fridge before getting the grill ready.
My girlfriend and I are going to try this out. It looked amazing. As does all of your videos. I have watched almost every one.

So I guess there are 3 guys out there who don't like meatloaf....(they thumbs down this video)...I guess the trauma of enduring dry old tasteless school lunch meatloaf was just too much for them to get over! I can't wait to make this, and as spokesman for real men who love meatloaf...Great Job Chef Tom!

aguirref, I think I understand what you are saying. Meatloaf in of itself is kind of plain to begin with! Throwing the cheese in there is new for me, but I think as the BBQ connoisseur I am, I am always looking for new products that are great and save time. This video brought to my attention a new product that I've never seen before would likely never find in any of my local stores, and for what is probably $5 to $7 for that jar of sauce, I'll try that sauce, maybe I'll like it. Plus it's probably a Mom and Pop small business that I would be supporting. As for the reason for video being promotional,...I think that goes without saying for all of their videos! I don't for a minute believe that All Things BBQ as a corporate entity goes to all this trouble to make this very well crafted series out of the goodness of their hearts. They are in business to sell stuff. and I would imagine that this RUclips channel drives a fair amount of business to their online sales. I know I have purchased from them online, since I don't live anywhere near Wichita. Having said all of that, I be willing to bet for much of America, Meatloaf is on the table or in the lunch box more than once a month besides the school lunch!
There's lazy and there's fast. The point behind this video was to walk through a very simple super flavorful BBQ meatloaf that takes less than 15 minutes to prepare. Think of it as a weeknight recipe. A recipe you whip up after work but before the kids have to be at football. Of course, you could just serve peanut butter and jelly sandwiches... either way. More of this content coming... and it's fully intentional.

Hey Tom, just wanted to give you some feedback on this. I made it last night and man that was good 🤪 and you were right. That Plowboys bean buddy was totally awesome..... I bet that would be great in baked beans 🤪. Going to be trying some of your burgers next and then I want to try your other meatloaf. Tom, just keep on doing what your doing. I do a very similar recipe, except I use wavy lays hickory bbq chips, that I ground up in a food processor, in lieu of the panko. It gives it just another element of bbq flavor.

Love me some smoked meatloaf! I have found frog mats to be a good way to put them on and take them off the grill. I’ll throw just about anything into my mix (no rules with meatloaf), but what cooked today wasn’t far from yours. Great job, you’re truly inspiring

I'm going to make this, but as a suggestion for someone with not the cleanest grates, use a sheet pan or some other grilling basket you can use to take the meatloaf out without it sticking or crumbling.

I despised the pork in the meatloaf. It had a completely different texture than the beef. I plan on making this again tonight using only beef.

Quick question guys! I bought the Bean Buddy from ATB and the lid is "poppy" seems like it was never truly sealed, so I complained and ATB sent me a new one, the new one also had a "poppy" lid, I ask them to check their inventory and they said they had 1 left in stock and it also had a poppy lid, have any of you cooked with the bean buddy after discovering that maybe it wasn't sealed right? Or do they always come sealed with the lid un-popped?

I missed how much bean buddy in the loaf.
I love the videos, but it would be nice if you'd say "if you don't have this super obscure sauce, here's what you can use instead:" and then list a recipe for a sauce or something we can find in most grocery stores.
