This video is about setting up a naturalistic (bioactive?) enclosure habitat for tarantulas. Will it will sustain in the long run? That is one thing we'll have to wait and see to find out.

just break it to them gently, best way is to introduce them to a docile specie, as time passes they will be more comfortable with T's work for me, curly hair, chaco golden knee, selecosmia samarae, obt, centipedes, scorps and my other exotics gang :) they feel more comfortable now

Exotics Lair Of course only try this method if you know for sure,that no pesticides/weed killers/etc have ever been used on any part of your garden,including any plants that have been bought and replanted there, and the grass lawn was grown organically with no traces of pesticides etc.

But I feel that nothing would happen if you had a ball python slithering around honestly they will just get in the closet under the bed and in any other enclosed space

That's my favorite thing about turantula videos on RUclips is always getting to see each different turantulas house/enclosure or burrow.

The amount of effort you put into taking care of your tarantulas is truly amazing
If you don't have access to clay:
I use is a cup and foam plate, I use the cup to make the entrance (cut the cup in half obviously) with the larger side at the back, I then put the foam plate at the back(this will be the actual chamber) and cover everything. If the plate is bulging out then cut a space for the cup to fit in, it helps to dig out the main chamber and leave the sides so the plate has something to sit on. You can use plastic or foam and use it as support for the burrow or you can get a large piece of wood(that's for enclosures, not construction wood) create sides that are sturdy enough for the wood(this will be entrance) and slowly dig out a burrow using a spoon, if anything just make a deep entrance and your T will eventually dig it out itself.
You shouldn't use construction wood, the rolls from paper towls, cardboard or paper plates is because for damp bedding it will cause the wood to rot and the paper to break, wood that is sold with enclosures and in pet stores are specifically for lasting long, It's best to use Driftwood(wood that is used in fish tanks).

I have no idea why but I just love watching your videos. I happened across your watering video and, even though I'm normally terrified of spiders, I was fascinated by how many different kinds there are. I'd go as far to say I found a lot of them beautiful. Please keep doing what you're doing. Your videos have not only been a learning experience for me but I'm not as afraid of spiders, tarantulas espesially, as I once was. Never thought I'd say this, but I may get one of my own when I get a house someday.

you just saved me a lot of money because I am getting my first t and the habitats are kind of pricey but I have everything I need to make this enclosure so I have a nice and sturdy burrow for my t. THANK YOU.
Blen Teklay Please be careful. I’ve been keeping Ts for years and would never recommend doing what he did. Getting clay from outside puts your T at risk of getting parasites or infested with various harmful insects. It also has the risk of exposing them to pesticides.

Just something to try to clean the clay bake in oven at 250 for about 1 hr. That should kill every thing in the clay/soil mix. Then add water untell right mix. Just a thought
That probably what i would do before using it for any pet.
(It's same thing i do to the growmedia for my chili plants)
I don't know if that would be best though, becayse I think you do need earthworms in the clay/soil mix...
Why would they need earthworms in the mix?
Regina Säveholm Olsson he explained in the video that you would need earthworms to tske care of leftover leaves and other dead matter in order to reintroduce nutrients into the soil and just to make sure they dont begin rotting in the soil
I don’t know if there is a way. But a timelapse of them webbing their new enclosure would be cool and fascinating

hey if you're worried about pesticides, mites, etc, there's a product from zoomed you can use. the clay burrowing substrate mix if i'm not mistaken.
I am actually arachnophobic but I really find these videos interesting and satisfiying
Thanks for the help with the enclosure mine turned out really well. I used with my substrate soil clay and sand. It's a lot easier to feed with the enclosure set up I have now as per when I had before. Because the substrate the bugs can't really dig through it as easily. I find it to be a lot better and more helpful that I watch this video. Thank you

You know, I honestly love your videos. Normally I hate spiders so much, but after watching your videos (as well as a few others), I realize that tarantulas really aren't too bad. I now realize they aren't going to try to assassinate me if I'm ever in 100 feet of them, and they really just seem like fuzzy, weird, things that are okay. Your videos are really cool and I really enjoy watching them.

I had a false bottom for vegetation over 9 " of coco in a tank. I worried about a cave in and used a Terra cotta pot and aquarium cave and drift wood to brace the false bottom and packed the coco back in.
