    I am lost for word, she was so scared 😢 I hope she has since made her burrow and settled? I don't know about you but it brakes my heart to see a t so scared. Just shows the importance of them being housed properly, fossorial without digging space = an irrational upset bolty t. I am so glad you made that point at the beginning, it's not her it's becauseshe couldn'tdig to settle. I really hope she settled in now, n as always Dave, Camera Lady great upload ❤

    This was the second species that I owned after having an A. seemani for 12 months (way back in 1988). She was relatively calm and didn't give me any issues. The second one that I owned was exactly your spider. I remember transferring her from the box that I bought her in and her running around the edge, frantically, as you have shown. Once she was in her home, with plenty of substrate she was fine.

  • @LorienInksong
    @LorienInksong 8 месяцев назад +3

    Poor thing is just scared, that's plain. Its good to know what to do in these situations (drop the relevant object). If its any comfort she reacted almost the exact same as my Phormictopus sp dominican purple, Violet, as before the rehouse she had 'locked' herself out of her own burrow. Couldn't take the lid off without a panic, and she ended up completely on her back with her rather desperate threat posing. She's not mean she just got scared.
    I've started in on old worlds and so far even the OBT hasn't been aggressive. They just need the space to feel secure. Sure the baboon spiderlings are more 'zesty' (they don't retreat into burrows as quickly as many of my new worlds) but in the end you just gotta work with the spider's viewpoint, as it were, in mind.
    I'm really lucky to have encountered your videos so early in my tarantula journey; being calm, gentle, and loving has worked wonders with my lot. Probably not necessary to tell them how proud I am after a rehouse or catching a feeder insect and how brave they were, but it doesn't harm them and reinforces with me the correct attitude.

      I'm currently trying to prepare myself for getting an old world so that I can work my way up to this spider, definitely in my bucket list with those colors. Unfortunate that they stay down in their burrow, but I'm excited to eventually have one. I just got a Trinidad Chevron and a sun tiger, currently have 4 T's, pondering getting an Amazon blue bloom, and then I'll slowly make the switch to a calmer OW T, we'll get there eventually. I'd love to breed some day 🥰

    • @dawne.h.8786
      @dawne.h.8786 8 месяцев назад

      @@abbyaustin1804 I currently have 69 T’s with about 10-11 more on the way lol I’ve been in the hobby for over a year now and I didn’t get my first OW until about 6 months ago. I now have probably almost equal numbers of OW and NW and honestly, some of my OW are calmer and better behaved than my NW. They are a bit more nerve wracking to work with sometimes but my GBB makes me the most nervous so far lol I haven’t decided on breeding yet, not sure I’m ready to raise hundreds of slings but it is something I’m thinking about as I have some species that are harder to find but I have some time to decide since most of mine are slings/juvies. From my experience, a good OW to look into when starting your journey into OW would be any of the Harpactira or the Ceratogyrus species. Mine have been very chill and well behaved, even my Pokies are pretty chill. Best of luck on your keeping journey! Dave is one of the best RUclipsrs to watch for info and keeping!

      @@dawne.h.8786 dang I wish I had the money to buy that many Tarantulas 😂
      I took a break from T's and switched to spoods for a little while after I started. So many hobbyists have so many Tarantulas within their first year of collecting. I had a few orb Weaver egg sacs to deal with and that was a lot, I think I had like 7 egg sacs and one jumping spider egg sac but they were so small I wasn't able to feed them, I tried everything. Spiders can just be so fragile, I think that's why I didn't get a bunch of tarantulas. I started with an avic avic and then got a bunch of spiders, I think the lack of durability made it feel like all T's are that way, but I have 4 now and they are pretty easy. My pink toe is a little stressed out, not sure why, still gotta deal with that, but besides that, especially my terrestrials are just fine living their little sling lives. I'm hoping to get 5 more soon, we shall see, I'm asking for spider money this Christmas. But I need to balance my priorities since I'm also saving for a house 😅
      I'd rather have a house than spiders I hate to say it

The best part was well chasing it around in the new home then in out like 3 times , finally got it in and closed her so was a bit of a run around but successful rehouse non the less, all while the versi was still holding on to its meal worm. was fun. haha

    i am fascinated in particular by the cobalt blue. for me, it was the first blue tarantula that i ever saw popularized online in tarantula spaces. felt like a long time before we had any of the electric blue and sapphire gooties and stuff that people are fixed on now. but the cobalt blue is one i would like to own someday. i think your videos on her are my favorite. i am someone with anxiety, and i try to get over my fear of the tarantula possibly running onto my skin and biting me by thinking about how scared the spider itself is. no defense at all except those fangs, can't see well, doesn't know where it is or where it's going when being rehoused. this helps me gain the courage to eventually own one.

    Excellent lesson about the variety of each spiders nature. Once again living up to your adage ‘Be kind, be patient, and love your spider’! Thank you both❤

    Good grief, you'd have to peel me off the ceiling when she "charged up the box"!! What a beautiful blue on that girl! You and CL are amazing. Would being kept in a shallow tub where she couldn't burrow increase her anxiety? 🕸🕸🕷🕸🕸💕
