My dad spent time as an engineer during the mid to late 60s ,there were 2 or 3 dishes, I went there as a kid with my dad for the day and it was like a science fiction movie ,his mates even printed my name out on the computer ticker tape machine ,great to see this 😊

I wonder if anyone who works at Goonhilly today realises that we did "radio astronomy" back in the late 1960's? I well remember night shifts where I sat in the control tower sweeping the beautiful Aerial 1 to and fro across a distant radio source (usually Cassiopeia A) while the late Pete Dring recorded the received signal levels. I believe the results from these "star tracks" were used to trim the petals on the dish to maximise the received signal. Happy memories of such happy days!
p.s. Good to see you Des!

My late father was based at Dollis Hill but did spend some time at Goonhilly during the project, probably about 1962.

The tacky music obscures the conversation. Is it necessary?
