Have had the Dacia Logan Mcv 1.5 dci for the past 8 years... Only changed the usual service parts and a rear wheel bearing... Now nearing 100000 miles of motoring looks like it can go for another 100k with regular servicing still returning 60mpg and used daily 😊😊

Fresh Dacia Duster owner here: Indeed, the latest version of the Dacia Duster 2 comes with "modular" roof rails, available in the higher trim levels (as it is the case for Sandero Stepway), that you can mount across the roof too. And this will also be available on the Duster 3 coming summer this year. All in all, you get a good amount of car for the money. It was even better a few years ago, but the prices have gone up quite abruptly. At the moment, at least in Romania, if you need a 4x4 with good ground clearance, Dacia Duster is still the cheapest option on the market, trading some blows with Suziki Vitara and lower trim levels of the S-Cross.
After 22 years of various Audis, I refused to pay huge prices any more and bought a Dacia Duster 1.3 Journey a year ago. It's brilliant! Don't go expecting luxury but honestly for a day to day workhorse it just gets on with the job. I keep horses so mine is always full of hay and horse feed. All I did extra to it was to put a decent set of tyres on it - Michelin Crossclimate 2 - so that I could get around safely in all weathers + like you, a space saver spare wheel and cage for under the car. Really pleased with it and tempted by the new series petrol 4x4 model. I did love driving my TTs and Q2 but honestly there's just no point in having a performance car nowadays with speed restrictions and jams everywhere, plus of course the potholes. Great little SUV that does the job perfectly. I get around 49mpg (not in Eco mode) around our country lanes.
Agreed - a great value car and, even in 2WD format, it can handle most things with the addition of Michelin Crossclimate 2 tyres. My own Duster (diesel) is now over 7 years/130k miles old and has been faultless. If a diesel option was still available, I'd probably upgrade to the latest model.

Worked for a furniture maker many decades ago, he used to have the classic Volvo estate for the same purpose, also had a natty little box trailer for putting the kitchen carcasses in but never bothered with owning a van either.
I really like your review style. I will call this a british working mans review which i think is quite rare. Glad to hear nothing has gone wrong and being about the same age i rem thouse 80's cars which were made already broken. Things have moved on a lot. A great, honest review. I bought a brand new Duster Extreme a month ago and it is fantastic. The build quality is better than a New Abarth I had previously, which incidentally had a lot of inferior/ really cheap scratchy plastic. At least the Duster interiors are sturdy and seem resistant to wear. I’m betting the Duster will be more reliable also… as you depicted.
I did a similar video back in 2016 when I bought my first duster also had it for a year and not a problem whatsoever the only reason I sold it because I didn't want to diesel car anymore...cheers Phil
My sister just handed her 2020 Duster AWD prestige, back she liked the car but the it did have issues, the driveshafts more so the front CV Joints were replaced under warranty they clicked from 11000k miles the car had 32k also the gearbox mounts started to sag causing gear changing to get progressively worse as the miles increased the salesman tried to get her into a new Duster but she wanted something a bit tougher and a bit less basic so she settled for new Nissan Juke , juries out on that one as its loaded with Renault parts too. Glad you have had trouble free ownership though she may have had a Friday afternoon car.

I got one question tho', if this is petrol with manual transmission and you try to go uphill from full stop, do you need to push a lot of gas, I mean rev it up to 2500-3000rpm and etc. which tends to fry the clutch? I am used to diesel cars and have lots of uphill driving and stopping, thus I am wondering if this would be good choice or not, specially the TCE130 with 4x4.
Hi Paul just brought the same car 2019 plate orange colour for £12000.00 with 29795 on the clock the test drive went OK, it's know road burner "not got the zip" of my ford focus 1.6 tdci witch is just beginning to have egr & DPF problems but then again it as done 165000 miles. .I will not be doing the miles I used to do that's why I have gone back to petrol the 1.6, sce Dacia duster renault engine is old tech but hopefully reliable, nice to see you are still happy, I asked you for a update on your opinion on the duster 1.6 a few months ago so thank you for posting this video. I nearly went for the 1.3 turbo engine but decided on the 1.6 sce so let's hope I have made the right decision
Seriously thinking about the new shape Duster instead of the new shape Captur , my current Renault Captur is up for swapping early next year , love it but the New Duster looks great and the price against the Captur should be competitive
Had my extreme 4x4 a few months. Absolutely love it and couldn’t care less about the badge snobs. Does everything it says on the tin. I think Dacia have hit a bit of a sweet spot and no doubt more people will look at buying them for their value for money and reliability.
Great video you've uploaded here, got a couple of mates that have Dacia's, they swear by them, i was looking at spending £25k on a Range Rover, then I thought, that's a lot of money, I ended up £13k on a 4x4 and £8k on a 4ltr Jag XJS for weekends and shows, to top it off I have £4k spare for repairs if needed (which I'm sure I will😂),
The 1.6 Petrol was a good engine but very under powered. in 2019 it was replaced by the 1.3 turbo which i have in mine and comes in 130 bhp or 150 bhp. I have the 130 and has more than enough power with loads of torque but again not the most economical, but with none thrashing it around I return around 41 mpg a week of city and motorway driving. Agree its a great car and I have had it for just over a year now and also had not a single problems with it over 36k miles.
I've had my Duster 1.3 tce 130 Twenty SE for 3 years now. Fair enough if you bang your knee getting in on the dash the Duster wins. Apart from that I can't fault it,I've usually had fiestas before ,but the price for a second-hand fiesta to a brand new Duster. Mmmm, no brainer, it's a Duster all the way. Roomy ..economical, comfy ,all the toys you need, and no slouch performance wise.
I have the same car but have noticed a rattle/vibration noise from the passenger side. The rattle is especially prevalent when using the Bluetooth hands free. Just wondering if anyone has experienced that and what the resolution was? I’m thinking it could be to do with potential wires rattling around in the passenger side A pillar.
When I was young your choice of cheap new cars was mainly those from Eastern Europe, including the Communist built Dacia's of old but mostly Ladas, Skodas and Yugos. Slightly higher up the scale were the early Hyundai cars that were just Korean built versions of older European cars, still way cheap compared to Ford's and Vauxhall but a bit more expensive than Lada and Yugo. I agree about the touchscreens, and most are overkill with features as pretty much everyone these days uses Android Auto or Apple Carplay anyway. The new Duster coming soon is also one seriously good looking car too, if I was after a new Duster I'd be holding off for that.
I bought a 66 plate from brand new, 1.5 diesel , and im telling you its slow ! Its gear change in first runs out of revs quickly ,if you turn into sharp bends it feels it wants to turn over , the steering is heavy, the wide tyres find all the road ruts,but its the most reliable car ive ever owned and probably in this day and age ever will, i get 50mpg on a run at 70mph, and easily 47 to 50 around town , if you buy one buy the second edition with electric power steering , the car is a practical workhorse tin box on 4 wheels and will never let u down , and if it breaks, its bloody cheap to fix , and you know no one will steal it , unless there using it to move house , ive owned alot of cars this is the most reliable car if u can put up with boring and just drive , then its a no brainer
I agree with your assessment. I've had a duster prestige 4x4 1.2 turbo for 7 years and it's been faultless. Apart from the annual service and mot I've not had to spend a penny on it. The mechanic who does the service/mot is impressed with it too.

i think they have an ECU software update for the way some Dacia engines hang on to revs when changing gear

We've both got our fingers crossed, but so far so good, I've only lifted the bonnet once in a year to check oil and top up screen wash, thanks.

Wow good choice on both counts, I've had a few xj6's and used all of the 2k I kept back for maintenance each time...I still want a late XJS one day.

Great engine had it in my megane 1.5 dci 110. The clutch always caused me problems though.
I would be worried if someone tried to sell me a car with "expensive" plastic on the dash.
