Sonic help! I'm trying to run from through Studiopolis but my resolution is dummy thicc and the clap from my pixels are alerting the Hard Boiled Heavies!
I think it's related to how flash games scale sprites up or down in a certain way that makes it look more jaggy. Especially rotating sprites are plagued by this kind of stuff

Oh finally, an aspect ratio wide enough to make things coming up ahead of you well and truly reactable Alright, editing this because nobody gets the point... I don't have a problem playing this or any other 2D Sonic game even in 4:3. I played them growing up so I know what to expect. I say this for people who didn't grow up on Sonic and expect games to have modern conveniences, such as the wider field of view afforded by the higher resolutions we have today. Long-time Sonic players, think back. I know you can play these games blindfolded now, I can too, but could you when you started? At the age of like five? Now tell me that average Joe over there with 5-year-old-you lack of gaming expertise can perform as well as we can in Sonic games when things coming up are visible on-screen only a fraction of a second before they hit you.
@@NRobbi42 That only happens in Sonic 1 and 2. Sonic 3, CD, and Mania don't have a whole lot of bottomless pits to begin with, and even then they are never in front of a bouncer or something that would direct you to fall into it.
2D Sonic games are bad because someone on the internet didn’t like Sonic 06 and I have no mind of my own even though this has nothing to do with that game and that wasn’t even 2D haha Sonic is bad, Sanic is still funny wanna play Fortnite?
This is actually optimal for Sonic games since you’re moving hella fast and can’t see shit most of the time. This fixes every problem I’ve ever had with the Sonic games.
I love how when the blue missile gets hit, it actually does turn around rather than being unloaded. I didn't expect that to happen, considering it's a detail you'll never see in game
You know, I'm actually rather impressed. This is the first video on RUclips I've seen with this resolution. I can see it all in detail. Nice one! What's more, I could see certain spawn points for the Heavy Gunner boss fight!
The fact that Mania's UI elements actually support 21:9 is crazy. Imagine the screen showing "Studiopolis Zone Act 1" and all the way to the top right of a 42:9 monitor is Sonic Mania. It keeps going.
I'd just like to say (if you even remember me) I apologise for my harshness. While I prefer ROM hacks over mods, I shouldn't have attacked you. I know a lot of work goes into plenty of your videos as well.
I’ve been playing Sonic games all my life. Imagine if the next 2D game was done in this style. I like it. I like it a lot. You have a LOT better idea of what is coming next so not only are you using your speed skills to get through the level, you are able to anticipate what’s coming next. I think there would be a lot of potential in an entire game done in this style that would make gameplay feel fresh.
Interesting that some scenery gets culled while actually on screen, like the windmill and "club spin" billboards, but only if they move off screen to the right.
The size of the screen reminds me of the arcade Darius is a video game of Aerial shots published by Taito, originally for arcades, in 1986. It is the first game in the series of matadors Darius and, after its appearance in the arcades recreational
Looks kinda cool on my 32 inch TV if a but impractical. The HBH fight was most interesting as some of the background elements popped up out of nowhere and the path you just ran through started breaking up behind you and what was with the row of diagonal rings as well. Plus you managed to muck up the transition scene at the end, brilliant 🙂
Itd be nice to see this as a speedrun of the level, or atleast *fast* being able to see the characters running what is usually psat the screen would be really neat to see in this ratio!
I find this aspect ratio interesting since now you can see practically anything that's ahead of you. It begs the question on if 2D Sonic should have the camera zoomed out more for people who want to see what's ahead of them.
If the next 2D Sonic game has an option to zoom out the camera to something like this I don't think I'd mind!! That would probably put an end to the whole "I can't see what's ahead of me" thing.
I kinda like this. You can see more room on screen, which is nice for the high speeds you hit in Sonic games. Ether that or the video is just stretched idk it’s 3:00 AM
Finally! I can see what’s happening in front of me! You don’t know how many time I run into enemies, walls or fallen of cliffs just because it’s so zoomed in
if Sega could figure out how to make All classic sonic games display like this, it would remove the biggest flaw I have with the series since high speed with not enough visibility makes it impossible to predict whats coming so you inevitably end up hitting road stops constantly, this fixes that.
