I scored in the 99th percentile on the CARS with zero preparation for that section and an undergraduate in Anthropology, which is about as prestigious as Gender Studies and Psychology among pre-meds. I think I spent 50 minutes on that section of the MCAT. CARS is fundamentally a reading comprehension test. At its base, it is asking you if you read the spark notes or if you actually read the books required in English Lit and philosophy. If you can't piece apart an argument and understand the language of each sentence, you will do poorly no matter how much you prepared using the Kaplan test prep resources. My advice is to read books. Understand history. Think deep, and challenge your own beliefs. Otherwise, you are just putting a band-aid on a gaping wound of cultural and logical ineptitude which will severely restrict your future clinical capability. If you are preparing for the test just so you can get a better score, you are completely missing the point of what a test is actually for.
