@@trellsmith4075 As a CHILD, Jordan did some work as a child model, doing print ads for local companies and small department stores, and a few big brands like Toys R Us. Through the suggestion of his manager, Jordan started going out to some acting auditions at the age of around 10~11. But the auditions weren't successful and he didn't get any callbacks for at least a year and a half. So Jordan wasn't yet an actor - he hadn't yet appeared in anything - at that time. It's not until 1999 when Jordan racked up his first acting credits, with small parts in single episodes of TV shows The Sopranos, and Cosby (no, not The Cosby Show, just Cosby starring Bill Cosby), and a kind of background part in the 1999 movie Black & White (with a star-studded cast including Robert Downey Jr., Scott Caan, Jared Leto, Elijah Wood, Bijou Phillips, rapper Raekwon, Mike Tyson, 90s supermodel Claudia Schiffer and Brooke Shields). These were big name shows and films, but Jordan played very small parts (Rideland Kid in The Sopranos; Teen #2 in Black & White). Jordan was born in February 1987, so in 1999 he would have been 12 going on 13. So technically, he got his start as a child, but already you can see that he was getting cast in teenager roles (Teen#2 in Black & White). He had a larger role as one of around 8 kids (so as Jordan himself said, neither he nor any single other kid got much attention since there were 8 of them) in the 2001 movie Hardball (starring Keanu Reeves). Jordan would have been around 13~14 when he appeared in that movie. Definitely getting into the teenage years there. Jordan's next role was a big step forward for his career: an ongoing role in the 1st season of the popular and acclaimed TV series The Wire. He appeared in 13 episodes as Wallace, a 16- year-old teenaged drug dealer. The year was 2002 so Jordan would have been around 15~16. This role really boosted his career. I would classify Jordan as a teen actor in that period, even though he did make 3 appearances on film and TV at the age of 12~13. This was when he first started and he really wasn't getting any recognition until Hardball and The Wire - when he was in his mid-teens. Ask around at some local school and see how many 13~15yr-olds regard themselves as children as opposed to teens. In any case, I made that earlier comment about Regina King - not Jordan. King started her acting career at 14. Her first credit was a big one - she worked solidly from 1985~1990 on the TV sitcom 227 as a main cast member. King was born in January 1971, making her 14 going on 15 in the 1st season and by the last season, was an adult at 19 going on 20.
He's my age. I loved him until he did North then I was really mad until he did Fellowship. That earned him my forgiveness. The thing is I have super lenient movie tastes but North was just that bad.
Also Laurence Fishburn has been acting since he was a kid and has been in movies that will be studied in film school for decades. Apocalypse Now, and The Matix trilogy. This list needs to be done again.
Fun fact: You’ll usually hear he was 17 when they filmed Apocalypse Now. Technically he lied about his age and was between the ages of 14 - 17 when the film was made. Because it took them 3 years to make that movie.
Not just that, that record also makes Scarlett Johansson join a list of elite actors and actresses who've accomplished that kind of record in a same year such as Cate Blanchett, Julianne Moore, Jamie Foxx, Al Pacino, Holly Hunter, Dame Emma Thompson, Sigourney Weaver, and Jessica Lange, along many others.
So no black actors/actresses? Kenan Thomas definitely deserves to be on this, also Raven Symone. Jurnee smollett-bell? Naya Rivera? There's not many but these ones should have been included.
There's plenty: Laurence Fishburne, Regina King, Michael B. Jordan, the Mowry twins, Kim Fields, Janet Jackson, Mario Van Peebles, Kristoff St. John... People just don’t take the time to research.
@@jinakaye i was thinking off the top of my head but half of these were not well known child stars who became successful. it's not black actors it's black actors who were successful as children and adults. the general public only knows most of these as adult stars.
You know you are probably right, and it's sick and sad that black America is so marginalized. But my gut reaction from the 4 yr horror show that was 45's presidency, inciting hate and racism where it became a crime to be white. I don't like that either. I hope you go into or into politics. You are just flat out honest, present evidence and leave it for others to decide in the end.
Where are the people of color? Michael B Jordan should have been on the list. Other actors include Kenan Thompson Zendaya China Anne McClain Tyler James Williams Amber Riley Keke Palmer Raven-Symone Kyla Pratt Tia, Tamara and Taj The Smollett Children Yara Shahidi Kat Graham
Mayim Bialik, Lawrence Fishburne, Forest Whitaker, Haley Joes Osment, Kenon Thompson, Seth Green, Joaquin Phoenix, Joey Lawrence, there are so many great child actors that are still acting and doing well, Michael Anthony Hall, I can go on for days. Your list had some of my favorites, thank you.
Why no Jackie Cooper? Nominated for a Best Actor Oscar at age 9, appeared in movies and TV as actor and director until his acting retirement in the 80s.
I grew up watching Elijah Wood in The Good Son and Forever Young. I remember being so excited when Lord of the Rings came out and recognizing him from my childhood!
hairin air they were significant roles in major motion pictures in the 80s. Parenthood was popular enough to warrant two TV remakes. To say he wasn’t successful as a child actor isn’t quite true.
@@hawkflame9584I think he also had roles as a teen. Maybe to you he wasn't as successful as kid like his brother River Phoenix but Parenthood was a very well known movie.
None of the actresses you mentioned have had successes that matched their early careers. They may not have ended up like the Coreys but they peaked early-they still get small parts here and there but none of them are headliners like Christian Bale for example. Brenda Song is mainly known for being with McCauley Culkin.
@@texasred2702 If you are including TV careers Raven-Symone has been working pretty steadily right along. The question is does being a successful TV actress make you a star without much film work. There is an argument to be made for her depending on the criteria.
Joseph (Joe) Mazzello, who was Tim in Jurassic Park, then did Shadowlands, Social Network, appearances on different series shows, the Pacific, then Bohemian Rhapsody
Kristen Stewart was pretty good in Panic Room at the age of 11. She then continued to churn out some pretty good roles as a teenager and grew up to become one of only two American actors to ever win a César (a French Oscar). That deserves a spot I say, and btw I'm not a Twilight fan at all. She's really good in everything else
Definitely not a fan of Twilight myself but I think she's a much better actress than she gets credit for. She has a very subtle style of acting very good can't wait to see what she does in the years to come
I first saw Kristen Stewart in a coming of age Science-fiction adventure movie called “Zatura: A Space Adventure”, which is exactly like Jumanji in space.
Sammy Davis Jr had one of the longest lasting careers in the business-starting at 7-but nobody mentions him. He is worthy of a mention and a round of applause. But I really like the list.
Why is Dean Stockwell always overlooked on these? He was in Anchors aweigh at the age of 9, and made films on and off throughout the years then got an Oscar nomination for Married to the Mob in the 80s. Starred for 5 years in Quantum Leap and still did films and TV shows right up to him retiring through ill health.
@@jiannebelle3827 He's a perfect choice for Ferb Fletcher. Really wanted to see a picture of Vincent Martella, Thomas Brodie-Sangster ans Ashley Tisdale together
Dean Stockwell should be here too. One of the biggest child actors of 1940s MGM, he went on to serious young adult roles in movies like "Long Day's Journey Into Night" and "Compulsion", then had a great 3rd act in his later years with "Quantum Leap", "Battlestar Galactica" and a number of large and small movies. He's retired now at age 85 but he only hung up his acting hat a couple of years ago.
What about Daniel Radcliffe, Tom Holland, Shirley Temple, DiCaprio, Zac Efron, Reese Whiterspoon, Phoenix or Nicholas Hoult? Also Daniel have more career before and after Harry, the man is a magnificent and a very talented actor
@@OneFlewOverTheCuckoo1999 i know, he is such an underrated actor and one of the most talented man i've ever seen in my life for young doctor's notebook, how to succeed in business, escape from pretoria, kill your darlings, imperium, beast of burden, i mean he is in another level of professionalism 👌
No s***. Who could forget Tyrone, especially because he wasn't your usual cutesy kid character, he was as complex as any adult. I think viewers might not have realized Fishburne was only TWELVE when he gave this performance.
Well to be fair they also managed to forget Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet and Reese Witherspoon, and they've all won Oscars. I don't know what the deal is with WatchMojo's fixation on Christian Bale. He's a fine actor, yeah, but overrated IMO.
@@texasred2702 At the beginning of the video they gave a mention to Leonardo DiCaprio and Ron Howard as not being considered because they said DiCaprio mostly did guest spots on tv shows as a kid (so not really a child star-- What's Eating Gilbert Grape was as an adult, I looked it up in response), and Ron Howard was a child star who mostly directed for his adult acclaim. They didn't forget DiCaprio. They didn't think he counted.
Anna Sophia Rob & Josh Hutcherson? They were *BRILLIANT* in Bridge to Terabithia, Race to Witch Mountain, Soul Surfer and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!
You forgot to mention Drew Barrymore`s a Cinderella story (my favorite version) and Christina Ricchi`s role in Sleepy Hollow - that role made me mentally cast her as Victorique (from Gosick anime) :D
you should watch Empire of The Sun. Man, Bale's role captivated my mind. At the time I was only about 10, caring only for new Mighty Morphin Power Rangers episodes, the movie opened a new world for me. Imagine a 10 y.o boy, who know nothing about fine cinema, watching the movie over and over again, just because of another boy's acting chop.
I can't believe you all forget about Ricky Schroeder, who is successful as a child actor in "The Champ", and also successful as an adult actor in many movies.
Didn't realise Scarlett Johansson was the little girl in The Horse Whisperer with Robert Redford. Made their fighting scene in Cap America: Winter Soldier kind of funny.
Jackie Coogan, who not only acted as a child with Charlie Chaplin and as an adult, perhaps most notably on the Addams Family television series, he famously advocated for the rights of child actors and changed the industry.
Let’s not forget that Peter Billingsley, Ralphie from A Christmas Story, has been producing movies as an adult as well! Cole Sprouse!! Started acting at or under 2 years old and is a star on Riverdale! Alfonso Ribiero, starred in commercials opposite Michael Jackson and on the show Silver Spoons is the host for AFV, And Haley Joel Osment not long ago was on Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia
Michael B could definitely be on the list. He is an A list actor. I had no idea Regina King was a child actor. I haven't seen 227 in years and didn't really remember who was in it. I could see her belonging on the list. I had to look up who Keke Palmer was and she doesn't come close to belonging on this list. Raven doesn't belong either. She's a "successful" adult actor, but not near as successful as anyone else on the list.
You left out the two Jackies: Cooper and Coogan. Cooper was an Our Gang kid. He effortlessly made it as a well-respected adult actor and director. Coogan acted with Charlie Chaplin in the classic silent film "The Kid'. He will always be remembed as Uncle Fester in "The Addams Family".
I would’ve had Naya Rivera and Tahj Molwrey (spell check) on this list they were both great child stars and adult stars.. or I would’ve had an honorable mention for them
Others have mentioned a lot of names that could have been included. I appreciate that the classics Rooney, Garland, Taylor, and Natalie Wood were included, and slightly less classic, still-living Russell and Foster. Another classic that I haven't seen anyone mention is Dean Stockwell, still living at 85. Brooke Shields (close to the same age as Jodie Foster) might also deserve some recognition.
The title should have been 20 white child actors that became a successful adults. I guess Raven Symone, Tia and Tamera Mowry, Noah Gray-Cabey, Mario Lopez, Kenan Thompson, to many a few OF MANY
Which child actor that is still making movies do you think is the greatest?!
Daniel Radcliffe? So many choices!
Bruce Lee
I mean, was.
Dakota Fanning.
Tom Holland
Saoirse Ronan is so underrated, she didn’t even make the honorable mention. She was an Academy Award nominee both as a child and as an adult actress.

There's plenty: Laurence Fishburne, Regina King, Michael B. Jordan, the Mowry twins, Kim Fields, Janet Jackson, Mario Van Peebles, Kristoff St. John...
People just don’t take the time to research.
There’s plenty but yes I agree someone of color should’ve been mentioned
Will Smith too, more teen but still
@@jinakaye i was thinking off the top of my head but half of these were not well known child stars who became successful. it's not black actors it's black actors who were successful as children and adults. the general public only knows most of these as adult stars.
The Good Son was uncomfortable to watch as a kid. As an adult, i love it. those 2 boys did some A+ acting.
I've yet to rewatch that movie as an adult
I watched it so much growing up. I like them both but Elijah really was extraordinary in everything. such poise for a tiny thing he was 😁
i ❤ The Good Son - i have the book on my wishlist!
Hayden Panettiere! She started very young in Remember The Titans. Here’s one at her current age, I love you, Beth Cooper.
Sean Astin, Corey Feldman, Jerry O’Connell, Roddy McDowell, Josh Brolin, Saoirose Ronan, Brie Larson, and others deserved honorable mentions.
I don't believe Nicholas Hoult didn't even get an honourable mention
Where are the people of color? Michael B Jordan should have been on the list. Other actors include
Kenan Thompson
Zendaya
China Anne McClain
Tyler James Williams
Amber Riley
Keke Palmer
Raven-Symone
Kyla Pratt
Tia, Tamara and Taj
The Smollett Children
Yara Shahidi
Kat Graham
agree so much! none was mentioned!
I have no idea who most of these people are, except for like 4-5 people. And they were just TV actors, not A-list.
Who?
*ahem* Lawrence Fishburne, too!😤😊
The only i know is Michael B Jordan. Great actor but he was already 16 in his first movie.
Christina Ricci was also in Mermaids, which I think was her first starring role with Cher and Wynona Ryder.
She was also in "Prozac Nation"
Which marked her first time appearing in a nude scene in a movie
Winona*
Judy Garland died in 1969 and Jodie Foster was 14 when she got an Oscar nomination for Taxi Driver.
And?
Why no Jackie Cooper? Nominated for a Best Actor Oscar at age 9, appeared in movies and TV as actor and director until his acting retirement in the 80s.
I wondered about that too. I think perhaps because he was not a huge star as an adult.
Would love for you to check out my acting work on my channel and tell me what you think :)
Joaquin Phoenix, Tom Holland, Leonardo DiCaprio
Umm... kind of forgot about these, and theres more
Watch the beginning again they already explained by Leo wasnt mentioned
what about Ron Howard - from the andy griffin show, to happy days, to being one of the best directors in Hollywood.
I agree Opie and Richie Cunningham should of made the list...
Andy Griffith Show
I grew up watching Elijah Wood in The Good Son and Forever Young. I remember being so excited when Lord of the Rings came out and recognizing him from my childhood!
*Top 20 Actor Childs who became successful Adult Actors*
Jake Lloyd: "Impossible"
Hasn't acted since he was like 13
I'm pretty sure most of them didn't get death threats.
@@smelvin13 To be fair, he didn't really ACT before then, either. :P
No Laurence Fishburne, Regina King, Shia Labeouf, Larenz Tate, Tisha Campbell or Tichina Arnold
My same thoughts...people of color should get our own list I guess.
@@torturedvampyre No shade to you sis, but we should be included. We are not at different species.
Plenty of white actors got left off. But leaving Lawrence Fishburne out was like....come on, people, Apocalypse Now?? Hello???
I just looked up Laurence Fishburne - Apocalypse Now took so long to film that he was 14 when he signed up and 17 when it wrapped!
Kellee George I think amanda was being sardonic
Narrator: “It’s difficult to believe Christian Bale was once a cute child”
Film production team of Terminator Salvation: “IMPOSSIBLE!”
Elijah Woods also played in "Forever Young" with Mel Gibson in the early 90s.
That's one of my all time favorite movies 😃
I love that movie, still one of my favorites.
@@rosaramos7399
Yes mine too.
oh Elijah goes waay back!
@@aslan9334 yep
Joaquin Phoenix!?
He wasn't a successful child actor
hairin air he had major roles in movies like Space Camp, Russkies, and Parenthood before he was 16, I think he could qualify
@@hawkflame9584 but are these roles familiar and we'll known to the mainstream media
hairin air they were significant roles in major motion pictures in the 80s.
I always thought Natalie Portman looked very beautifull in V for Vendetta with the shaved head look
NPH left the "Doogie" behind with his role in 'Harold and Kumar' first.
He wouldn't have a second career without Harold and Kumar. And he wouldn't have been in that film if not for being Doogie.
Ethan Hawke
Ryan Gosling
Leonardo DiCaprio?????
The Faculty has to be Elijah Wood's most underrated role. No one ever talks about it and I dont know why!
i ❤ that movie!
Missing from this list; Keisha Knight Pullman, Raven Simone, Brenda Song and Tatianna Ali.
I haven't seen Keisha Knight Pullman since the Cosby Show, apparently she's done more. Good for her, she was great then.
And Danielle Spencer - "Dee" from What's Happening?
I'm so happy that Henry Thomas from E.T is getting bigger roles again now!
She's really good in everything else
agreed!
Definitely not a fan of Twilight myself but I think she's a much better actress than she gets credit for. She has a very subtle style of acting very good can't wait to see what she does in the years to come
I remember her in Speak
I first saw Kristen Stewart in a coming of age Science-fiction adventure movie called “Zatura: A Space Adventure”, which is exactly like Jumanji in space.
I really respect and appreciate the fact that you have included actors from previous generations, not just the youtube generation. Well done 👏😃💐
underrated comment!
Sammy Davis Jr had one of the longest lasting careers in the business-starting at 7-but nobody mentions him. He is worthy of a mention and a round of applause. But I really like the list.
Freddie Highmore used an American accent when he played twins in The Spiderwick Chronicles.
Elijah have done very well, he’s one of my favorites
What about "Roddy Mcdowall" a Star since he was a baby "He was the Original "Cow and Gate Baby" he should be on this list.
See my later comment! I agree.
From "Lassie Come Home" to "Planet of the Apes", and with no problem adjusting from child star to adult stat and director.
What about Nicholas Hoult??? Very underrated!
Agreed, but when was the last time you said hey let's check out that Nicholas Holt movie???
I love him in the Favourite and the Hulu show The Great he is amazing. Check that out if you haven't!
@@julieroccia6344 I remember him from About a Boy...such a good movie
Omg he's a cutie
Why is Dean Stockwell always overlooked on these? He was in Anchors aweigh at the age of 9, and made films on and off throughout the years then got an Oscar nomination for Married to the Mob in the 80s. Starred for 5 years in Quantum Leap and still did films and TV shows right up to him retiring through ill health.
I recognize Thomas Brodie-Sangster from Phineas and Ferb more than any other of his films despite his limited lines in the show
That's what I was thinking!
@@jiannebelle3827 He's a perfect choice for Ferb Fletcher. Really wanted to see a picture of Vincent Martella, Thomas Brodie-Sangster ans Ashley Tisdale together
Right like why didn’t he mention that
Same
@@jassyjones Watchmojo just don't know
Dean Stockwell should be here too.
Daniel Radcliffe should’ve been on this list. Emma Watson is a talented actress too but Daniel Radcliffe is better.
Would love for you to check out my acting work on my channel and tell me what you think :)
Shirley Temple did not really parlay her success into adulthood.
I was thinking that Leo was going to be number one!!! Of course not what was I thinking!
How did this list not include "Iron Man" Robert Downey Jr.? He's been acting since he was 5.
Would love for you to check out my acting work on my channel and tell me what you think :)
Disappointed that Lawrence Fishbourne is not on this list.
Me too
No s***. Who could forget Tyrone, especially because he wasn't your usual cutesy kid character, he was as complex as any adult. I think viewers might not have realized Fishburne was only TWELVE when he gave this performance.
They never list people of color..
Diane Lane (Little Romance) & Jennifer Connelly (Once Upon a Time in America) performances were so impressive, and they should be honorable mentioned.
young christian bale face looks like it's a CGI
I appreciate the positive spin! Also I like that you included ancient child stars like Mickey Rooney and Liz 🥰
Yes, and Kurt Russell and Natalie Wood - that generation usually gets overlooked by these lists.
I think that Elijah Woods is a wonderful actor and he's going to have a wonderful career
Jodie Foster did talk about directing it acting didn’t work it, and now did both. Fair play.
They forgot to mention Phoenix the actor who played the joker 🃏 and who won the Golden Globe and won the Oscars wtf
Wait, Mickey Rooney was a child star?!
WOW!
Sure he was child sized, but I had no idea!
There are so many awesome stars here!
...And some sad endings!
This List is informative I did not know Christian Bale was a child actor.
you should watch Empire of The Sun.
Nolan Phạm I’ve seen Empire of the Sun but never noticed it was Christian Bale until recently. What really shocked me was that he was in Newsies.
@@terra_the_nightingale135
And he was also in Disney's Pocahontas.
He is the main character in Empire of The Sun. I've wondered if he was intimidated by working with John Malkovich.
@@terra_the_nightingale135 Newsies is a good, happy movie.
I will dare to say Joe Mazzello. I think his work is underrated. I love his work. Huge fan.
I got so happy seeing Thomas Brodie Sangster on this list, I nearly threw my phone
Great stuff. This list is so good it feels like everybody on it should be higher.
From classic Hollywood, Roddy McDowell and Dean Stockwell.
Thomas Brodie Sangster, Freddie Highmore, Elijah Wood
This is officially my #1 favorite WatchMojo video.
Let's not forget that Dakota Fanning was in Cat in the Hat
Or her unintentionally hilarious stint as a vampire in the Twilight series.
Don't remind me.
The Alienist.
What’s that??? LOL
Joaquin Phoenix is missed off the list.
Would love for you to check out my acting work on my channel and tell me what you think :)
How about Dean Stockwell? His career encompasses 1945 and 2015 ... and everything in between. Who can forget Boy with Green Hair?
"You MAY recognise him as Frodo baggings"
-watchmojo.
Or the voice of ‘Spyro the Dragon.’
What about Jay Baruchel? He appeared as a kid in Popular Mechanics For Kids but as an adult he’s the voice of Hiccup from How To Train Your Dragon
What about Michael b Jordan, Regina king, keke Palmer and raven Symone
Michael B could definitely be on the list. He is an A list actor. I had no idea Regina King was a child actor. I haven't seen 227 in years and didn't really remember who was in it. I could see her belonging on the list. I had to look up who Keke Palmer was and she doesn't come close to belonging on this list. Raven doesn't belong either. She's a "successful" adult actor, but not near as successful as anyone else on the list.
Stealthee 3k keke Palmer started as a child actor just like Regina and raven and they are successful
They really are.
Yeah the lack of color on this list is deafening
You left out the two Jackies: Cooper and Coogan. Cooper was an Our Gang kid. He effortlessly made it as a well-respected adult actor and director. Coogan acted with Charlie Chaplin in the classic silent film "The Kid'. He will always be remembed as Uncle Fester in "The Addams Family".
When talking about Elijah Wood how come yall didnt mention Wilfred?!
Sean Murray, Elle Fanning, Thora Birch, and Abigail Breslin should be on this list.
Honorable Mention: Naya Rivera. RIP beautiful
How about Sean Murray? From Thackery Binx to MGee
The title should have been 20 white child actors that became a successful adults. I guess Raven Symone, Tia and Tamera Mowry, Noah Gray-Cabey, Mario Lopez, Kenan Thompson, to many a few OF MANY
None of them became successful adult actors though. None of them act anymore, except Kenan but his are SNL comedic sketches.
If they were allowed to include actors who started as teenagers (ScarJo), how did Will Smith not make this list?
Amanda Strobel because he was 22 when he first started acting, not 18
Jordan Alexander Raven has her own show, now. It’s called “Raven’s Home”
@@hawkflame9584 ahh thank you. His music career did start as a teenager, but not his acting. Fair enough.
Niel Patrick Harris definitely solidified the crazy party guy character in How I Met Your Mother but really Barney was born on Harold and Kumar
Just leaving Seth Green off this list, altogether?! F'ed Up, Mojo
You are right. I forgot him but he should be on the list.
I can´t believe that you skipped Asa Butterfield
