The white gear is pressed onto one end the shaft. The other end of the shaft is splined and pressed into the wheel hub. I got mine off by placing it on top of a socket wrench and really hammering on it.

My Roomba 600 had dirt inside the one main driving wheel until the friction became too much for the motor.
To get the side wheel off from its axle:
    1. Remove the wheel module. homesupport.irobot.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/514
    2. Hang on to those 3 screws - 1 of mine fell off
    3. Hold on to the wheel with your hands (or support it on the edges if you have nobody to help). Hammer on the central axle with a punch and and light hammer. Slowly punch the axle with the rest of the wheel module out of the wheel. (The small metal "rim" stay attached to the plastic wheel and rubber tire.)
    4. Clean the mess around the axle.
    5. For re-assembly you'll need a punch (or nail) to support the axle from the wheel module side while you hammer the wheel back on. Note the axle and the "rim" has fine notches that should align.
    6. With the wheel and rim flush assembled, I had to support the wheel module on something soft and hammer the axle still deeper into the wheel module until the tire was properly aligned to the wheel module - similar to the other wheel.
I'm sure iRobot will want to sell you a new wheel module when it only needs cleaning.

@@ppalagyi I'm so glad I could help. Later on it started moving on the axle again and I had to apply lock-tight glue

Great vid. I was able to apply this to my roomba 980 who’s right wheel is stuck. Unfortunately the gear box is completely clean so the debris must be on the wheel axle behind the plastic.
I’ve seen another tutorial where they drilled a 1/4”’hole near the axle and used a paper clip to pull out A LOT of debris. Wondering if you’ve found a better way to get in there. The good news is mine is still under warranty so I got a free eight wheel module on the way so I can make a science experiment out of my broken one.

Were you able to remove the wheel from your gearbox on your broken one? My Roomba 785 ran over a ribbon that is now caught around the axle of the big wheel. I'm trying to figure out if I can just pound the shaft loose or if there's some other way it's held in place.

David Mathew I have the exact same situation with my 980. The wheel cannot be removed I believe.

@@DavidMathew82 I had a similar problem and got mine off, cleaned and reinstalled. I'm not very technical.

i wound up drilling a couple of holes into the wheel from both sides. i removed most of the parts, clamped the wheel in a small vice to hold it then carefully drilled the holes. Then i managed to fish out the rubber band and other garbage that had been sucked into the wheel

Will that motor seize up? Mine seems hard after I take the gears out compared to the other side
