    Thanks for your lovely video about Tonga. I am now in Bora Bora, sailing solo around the world in my 27 ft sailboat, heading directly for Tonga. Cheers, Jacqueline Evers - Sailing Loveworkx

    Enjoy the videos! Thank you. One helpful hint- if you like your dinghy, tie a second painter from a second point so you don't loose it.

    i live in a small town in michigan usa. kalamazoo specifically. i noted the book you referenced by tom neale called” an island to myself”
    and my library service actually found it in an even smaller town called escanaba in the upper penninsula of michigan.
    it is an amazing book and i just wanted to thank you for mentioning it. a delightful read. take care!

    Sorry to hear about the sea sickness,that's the worst thing,but in the end,it's worth the temporary discomfort for the rewarding lifestyle.
    Another superb episode,thanks for letting us tag along 😊

    Good yachties. Love the shot (12.15) of the jib sheet outside the rails for a better sheeting angle for the reach.

Y’all have a beautiful yacht what is Florence ? Fair winds and we think y’all are a handsome couple ! Fair winds will be watching love Y’all !

      Hi, Florence is an Oyster Heritage 37, built in 1985. Good luck with your adventures, the hardest bit is actually setting off, from there on it just gets better. M&A

    How do you haul out and do the work yourselves in marinas? Like where do you get all the gear needed to do the work? Do they rent them out there?

    Loving the videos, only recently came across your channel so playing catch-up. Do you need to contact a country before arriving for visas or is it different when sailing into a new location?

    • @SailingYachtFlorence
      @SailingYachtFlorence  2 года назад

      Hi Alan, It is different in different countries. We are lucky that with British passports we can often just turn up (we have to arrive at an official port of entry), but sometimes we have to send documentation ahead. It is one of a long list of things to research before we set off for a new country.

    you guys are good at editing because I'm usually pissed off with the choice and sound level of the music. It looks like you are using the copyright free stuff and thats a good idea, RUclips is cracking down on borrowed music. Thanks for the series, I'm in Australia and I want to get out into the Pacific as well.

      Naw, they missed the opportunity to use local music. Filizi does that, the island music is wonderful and heartfelt.

      Hi Chuk, They managed to contain the leak and get to the Marquesas where they hauled the boat out of the water and made a proper repair. All fixed now.

    What type/brand is your decking forward? I am mid refit on my sailboat and debating what to do for the non-skid forward. Yours looks like it would be great underfoot. How is the durability? Great video! Love the cave diving, very neat

    • @SailingYachtFlorence
      @SailingYachtFlorence  6 лет назад +1

      Davis Donnell it's a brand called treadmaster. It's available in a few different colours. We think it's been on Florence since new in 1985 so very durable! We thought it would be hot underfoot in the tropics buts it's no worse than the teak in the cockpit. Great grip and comfortable enough barefoot. We have never slipped.

      Hi Saar, We live on £14K per year total for both of us. That includes everything from the big expenses like Insurance and Maintenance down the ice-creams we eat. We worked hard and saved hard for 12 years before we left to make this happen. You can save a lot of money if you don't smoke, don't drink and never own anything made by Apple...
