Thank you Wendy! I want to capture and celebrate everything this great city has to offer. Being born and raised here sometimes we can forget how wonderful it really is.
As a young man from Memphis Tn, the single best winters I have ever spent; were spent in Ottawa. In all honesty, I’m just looking for a reason to come back (hopefully this winter!)!
First time I'm watching and listening to positive vibes about winter in Canada and Ottawa in specific. I had no choice but to subscribe immediately because as a positive person I love to be associated with positive people. I'm so encouraged. A lot of people especially those that live or has visited Canada talk about winter/cold in Canada as if it's a curse. One thing they don't realize is how much they discourage new comers. You said one thing that's very striking, that 'one thing about a bad weather is bad choice of clothing' I totally agree.
As someone who is seriously planning on moving to Ottawa in the near future, but doesn't know a thing about the city, finding your account and these videos are already changing my life and making me feel so much more comfortable with my choice. Thanks for doing this, and keep the good work!! 😉👏
Great to hear! Today we are having another 'snow day' where the school buses are cancelled and I'll have to head out this afternoon once it stops snowing to snow blow the driveway but a small cost for living in a great city.
We had a 7hp snowblower. That was in 1972. Trust me, it was a lifesaver! Miss skating on the canal. NOTHING smells the same as a log cabin with a heater and wet socks!
By Town Ottawa speaks history, I guess Ottawa is a heavenly paradise, romantic destination, One of the beautiful Citi in Canada history speaks I guess, I love Ottawa, bonjour monsieur, merci beaucoup
Amazing video as always. You deserve a lot more attention! I have been watching your video for a year waiting to move to Ottawa(was delayed due to covid) and im finally making the move in 5days!!! Your video helped me a lot and i cant wait to experience everything you talked about.😍
Ya'll know what? Im susbscribing! Just checked out your content and it is all Ottawa! Fyi, im on the move on moving to Ottawa in 2 years time and these made me so ecstatic and excited. I cant wait to move in Ottawa omg! Thank you!
One word: cold 😂 But Winter is amazing in Ottawa, the nice toasty Beaver Tails, Timmies Hot Chocolate, and the longest canal, so many fun things to see and do!
Thanks for the comment Sami! Generally based on the weather stats Saskatoon is colder in Winter from about -5 degrees to -7 degrees and Ottawa is warmer by +2 degrees on average. Ottawa gets much more snow - almost double of Saskatoon. Cheers!
I moved to Ottawa from Brisbane (Australia), I didn't grow up with winter but it's probably my favorite season now, snow is so pretty, and most winter activities are fun as hell. Get out on that canal before they close it, don't wait for the perfect day or it'll be closed for the season. You didn't mention how bad the drivers are here in Ottawa, you would think they would know how to drive in the winter, but no... and don't park your car there or I will call bilaw on you.
Haha. So true Lowe Grade. Seems the first snowfall always signals panic on the roads. Being born and raised here I think I adjusted by just not driving on the first snow fall. Just to avoid all the fun activities of that day. And now with the great auto wheel traction it takes away the fun of the old days of 'fish tailing' you car around corners. And yes, trying to find parking and only to find a large snow mountain taking up 5-6 prime parking spots can be frustrating too!
@@LivingInOttawa you can turn traction control off:) I like when they come by in the night and fine you for parking on the road, but the road hasn't even been ploughed.
@@LivingInOttawa how quick is the warm up and cool down I was there in August it was 80s how long does wearing shorts and t-shirts and swimming last outdoors

Been giving some thought to move to Canada and Ottawa being on our radar. We both work from home. I have properties on Airbnb here in Tampa Florida and would like to be able to Airbnb whatever property I end up with. How is the short term rental market in Ottawa? I'm looking at the Orleans area and would like to be able to Airbnb the property when I'm traveling
Air BnB has been successful in the past in Ottawa but some newer regulatory rules have made things little more difficult. Happy to connect to discuss if you are seriously considering investing.
#1 hack for living in Ottawa during the winter. Simple just leave Ottawa in the winters and go to Florida, California or somewhere tropically warm. I've lived in Ottawa for my whole life and I love living in Ottawa but I hate the winters. It would be nice if Ottawa had the same climate as Florida. I'd definitely prefer if Ottawa had summer all year long.
Lol. Couldn't agree more on exchanging our Winters for Florida climate. But then we would have to deal with Alligators and Mosquitoes all the time. That's no fun. :)
@@LivingInOttawa Eating Alligators are so delicious 😜. Plus not all parts of Florida have Alligators. Alligators are only in Florida's Everglades. I'd much prefer sitting on the beach by the ocean or a Lake.
@@photosbymiketm2461 I could use some beach sitting time these days. Missed out the last two years of getting that getaway sun soak time. So instead, I sit in front of my ring light and close my eye imaging it!
Canada uses the Celsius and Metric measurement system vs the Fahrenheit system used in the USA. Water freezes at 0 here and if you are below 0 it is obviously colder. From a quick Google search it looks like Africa also uses the Celsius measurement for temperature but perhaps it varies from region to region?
@@LivingInOttawa Yes we do use the metric system but I'm more familiar with the 10 to 40°C range, we don't even get any snow. To us, -10 or -40 is the same, we just label it as "freezing cold". But I'm pretty sure you guys have e.g. different clothing and habits for say -5°C and -25°C, so I was curious about that.
@@InfinityDz Lol. Correct - Freezing Cold would be a good description. I typically say there is no such thing as bad weather just bad clothing choices. In the thumbnail image of this video you will see I am wearing a down filled jacket. This jacket is warm enough for -40. If it is -20 or warmer than that this jacket would be too warm and we would wear something lighter. Ottawa can swing from -40 in the extreme cases (rare but has happened) to +40 in Sumer with humidity (once again extreme but very rare and only for a short period of time) but I want to illustrate the wide range of weather we experience here. As such we have different clothing options to accommodate each of the seasons. From shorts, t-shirts and flip flops to down filled jackets, scarves, gloves, etc.
Bonjour!Merci beaucoup pour vos vidéos, je les trouve très intéressantes. Ça fait un certain temps que je vous suis. Et j’aimerais beaucoup avoir vos conseils sur le déménagement à Ottawa .
