Francesca Clement should keep her opinion for herself. Leas is a great professional quilter, doesn’t deserve comments like that. If took 7 minutes is nothing; we followed her because she’s teaching us everyday with all good intentions. 7 minutes of our life is nothing to loose. Maybe you don’t like the style of quilt but others will like. So respect all of us that is learning with Lea. I love the quilt sewing in the 45 degrees forming a rectangle quilt. ❤😍

Have to say I really love your thoroughness in your tutorials. Love this quilt. Before your video was over, this kit was sold out. I’m wondering if Fabric Hut would sell the pattern. I suppose I’d had just better call them and to find out. Also, I don’t know if it’s worth mentioning, but I did try to share this video on my Facebook page and I don’t know if it’s RUclips or Facebook that won’t allow me to do that. For me this seems like an intermittent difficulty. Till next time, look forward to seeing your videos and what you’re going to do next have a great and glorious day.

Please check out my RUclips Community Tab located on the home page to see the pictures relating to this comment. www.youtube.com/@InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise/community While this video's On-Point method is a shortcut causing your outer edges & points to be trimmed off when you bind, it is a great way to create an easy on-point quilt! As you're watching the video there are other on-point videos linked at the top of the screen where you can see the traditional methods. The right or wrong way is up to you and the results you want. There are many quilters who use this method I'm sharing with you today. Honestly, I'd rather see a finished quilt done this way than a frustrated quilter with a pile of unfinished quilt fabric. We all learn with every quilt we make. My hope is that by learning how to make your first on-point quilt successfully, you may choose to learn more about quilting. Happy Quilting is truly my goal for each of you, no matter what that may be for you. Thanks so much for following along and Happy Quilting!!

While a simple hack, it bypasses best practices to keep straight of grain on outside. There are many free resources that provide the simple math needed to calculate corner setting and side setting. As you know, I love your work, and I say the follow with deep respect and affection: I think it better to educate on the technical (quit math) than the bypass which throws bias on the outside. All people quilt has a great pdf as do other makers to avoid bias on the outside. Put it on your quilt board and it will increase quilt building skills and confidence. Same observation for hst construction methods that do same.
Your input is spot on, Leisa, and I appreciate your comment very much! We should all know how to do the 'traditional' and correct methods for various quilting techniques. I have multiple videos for on-point quilts using side-setting triangles & corners. Each of those videos were noted at the top of the screen for viewers to click on. With that said, I also like to try the different methods out there. There are two specific reasons I chose to focus on this on-point technique. First it's a great initial way to understand what on-point means and how it works. Secondly, the diagonal cut includes seams so it's not the entire block subject to stretching. That reduces the problem a bit and with the recommendation to stay-stitch around the entire quilt edge the stretching problem is reduced greatly. There are many viewers who are just learning how to quilt and I'd rather they give a new shortcut to a technique to try and be successful rather than stressed. My goal is to get viewers to learn or continue quilting. Like us, as they progress they will want to learn some of the finer points to improve their techniques and final results. Okay, you've made me recall my first quilts - OMG - the absolutely worst quilting job ever! I made 3 similar quilts for family gifts. God bless them, they each still have it after multiple decades! I'll put a picture in the community tab! You'll get a kick out of it. But it does show even when my first quilt was tied because I couldn't figure out how to stitch in the ditch straight, I did choose to continue learning. I love your respect for quilting and appreciate your comments. Thanks for being a wonderful follower of my channel and please don't ever hesitate to ask my why I do what I do! ❤❤❤ Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
@@InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise, on the blocks being cut for the side triangles and corners, why not draw a line diagonally and stay-stitch a 1/8th inch from the drawn line for the two different triangles and then cut it apart?
Love your beautiful on point quilt! I'm a beginner quilter so thanks for all the tips How can I get the instructions on how to make this quilt Thanks again ❤️

I made an on-point pineapple quilt.. Love it! Made it the 'math' method but still love it.. I'd make this one just to try out the technique! Good idea to add the 1/8" to the bias edge considering my quilts don't often get quilted right away .. LOL -- btw, my Mom took my pineapple quilt so I'm making another one.. Which method will I use?? LOL Thanks for sharing.

I was just wondering - if you were to use a half square triangle in the 4 corners then you would end up with your biased edge against the block and your non-biased edges on the outside so they wouldn't stretch. Then use quarter square triangles on the sides, top and bottom which would turn the biased edge to the inside. Then you wouldn't wouldn't need to stay stitch the border to keep it from stretching. I would probably do that anyway because it is a good idea. Just my experience. 😊
Yes, Janis, that'll work too. There are a number of ways to create an on-point quilt. This variation in the video focuses on the shortcut that doesn't need triangles. It's a good way for beginners to learn how an on-point quilt goes together. Thank you for entering to win thefabrichut.com Ergonomic Rotary Cutter Contest! @@InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise thanks...I didn't even know I was entering to win anything! LOL Guess I didn't listen very closely, but hey, I'm up for a good contest!!
She meant that when you have finished the quilt top (so all the squares and triangles sewn together, but before you add borders) you sew a stitch all the way around the quilt 1/8 inch in from the edge (instead of the "normal" 1/4 inch) the reason for it is that you stabilize the triangles (which are bias - therefore stretchy) but by only doing a 1/8 inch seam you won't see it when you add the borders. When you do this stay stitch (that is what it's called) you won't get a wonky edge due to stretch in the triangles - so you won't end up with one side much bigger that the other. Especially when you iron the quilt top you can make the triangles "bigger" on the bias edge if not careful. Did that help? (I'm also a newer quilter so I'm learning all the terms as I hear them lol)
@@freddiehansen7324 oh OK! Thank you. I thought that’s what she meant but I’m so visual, I wasn’t sure because I’d never seen anyone do it. Thank you! This was extremely helpful! I have a question for you. Would you advise stay stitching the bias of the blocks needing to be cut before cutting them rather than stitching all of the way around after sewing everything together?

You're exactly correct. This is a great shortcut but the tips of the small squares along the edge are sewn into the seam allowance.

While this video's On-Point method is a shortcut causing your outer edges & points to be trimmed off when you bind, it is a great way to create an easy on-point quilt!

❤❤❤ Happy Quilting,
Lea Louise
@@InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise, on the blocks being cut for the side triangles and corners, why not draw a line diagonally and stay-stitch a 1/8th inch from the drawn line for the two different triangles and then cut it apart?

@@InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise thanks...I didn't even know I was entering to win anything! LOL Guess I didn't listen very closely, but hey, I'm up for a good contest!!
Lovely quilt! 😍😍 I'm not sure I understood the 1/8" thing because I'm new to quilting, but I love this quilt.

I like the proportions of the white vs the floral strips. I have a Jason Yenter jelly roll that would be wonderful
When I cut may blocks from point to point it doesn’t allow for the seam allowance. Please show how yours looks after you sew and flip it.
You're exactly correct. This is a great shortcut but the tips of the small squares along the edge are sewn into the seam allowance. It works well in this quilt as there are lots of prints and that isn't noticeable at all. Thank you for entering to win thefabrichut.com Ergonomic Rotary Cutter Contest! I have been trying to figure out how to buy the kit.
Sadly it was sold out by the time this video released.
You may have missed it, but since the quilt kit was no longer available the free giveaway was the ergonomic rotary cutter.

Sorry but not a fan of a commercial disguised as education. I understand this supports your work but it was just too much. Almost 7 minutes worth at the start.
Well why don’t you just leave the page. No need to comment. LeaLouise is entitled to earn something for her time. I wholly support her.
I found the video very helpful, especially the piecing of the half-square triangles to fill the sides of the quilt. Great video, Lea Louise, as usual!
My mother taught me, if you unable to say nice, then don’t say anything at all. My Daddy was an ordained deacon in the Catholic faith so we were taught the golden rule. Instead of the negativity, skip the video.
I thought the feedback might be helpful. No offense or insult intended.
I think it’s great that you are defending her. It’s just that I wasn’t attacking. I saw it as some feedback for how some people respond.
TY Lea. These florals and on point pattern are really nice. It’s very rare to receive the backing and binding in kits today!
I love the Fabric Hut titanium blades! They are unbeatable for lasting durability, quality and price!💕💕💕🧵
Yes, Helen, their kits are complete with backing which makes them such a great deal! Their blades are the only ones I use.
