    The best way to stop anticipation or flinching as they call it is by dry firing enough, so pulling the trigger while the guns empty and there's no bang no recoil becomes muscle memory, you'll do it instinctively, without anticipating our flinching from then on. It takes about 2000 repetitions for something to become muscle memory, but if you want it bad enough, you're put in the time. I'm a certified Weapons instructor and I have seen it work every single time.

      Have a buddy randomly put some dummy rounds mixed in with live rounds in the mag. I never knew I anticipated the shot until I started throwing in a dummy round here or there in the mag. Also you'll notice it when you get distracted and forget to chamber a round and you go to fire.

    How many times have you heard someone say the solution is to let the shot surprise you or something like that? I've never been sure what that means, but in practice (for me) it leads to this creeping trigger & wobbling sight picture problem. 'Cause I'm trying to be surprised, see? Except I anticipate the surprise. This idea of having your vision cue an automatic response from the trigger finger instead of letting your finger send the brain information is like someone teaching you how to properly hold a football: seems like a small change but the effect is significant.

    This was the most helpful video. The first time I shot I was pretty good and then I developed recoil anticipation. All the other videos I watch just talked about how it was psychological and just get over it or do lots of dry fire practice. This was the first piece of advice that worked and now my shooting is so much better! Thank you!

    • @garetz2011
      @garetz2011 5 месяцев назад

      You saw a lot of stupid videos. It's impossible to anticipate while dry firing. Why? Because you don't anticipate a bang when you know it won't happen.
      Ball & Dummy. Yes! Anticipation (or flinching) is psychological. Some people don't have this problem. They become expert shooters and when they decide to teach shooting... poor pupils. They never succeed (instructors and pupils).
      If you shoot low and left: 99,99% is solved with Ball & Dummy. Get a revolver, some spent cases and take ypur time.

    I'm a novice shooter and my "shot anticipation" went away like magic one day because I was so focused on lining my sights and hitting the target that I didn't even think about the recoil. I shoot maybe once every couple months, and for weeks I was so anticipating it that I would sit in my bedroom and aim at various things (without dry firing) just wanting to shoot so bad. I think I somehow trained myself to solely focus on shot placement, which is awesome because the fear of recoil was hindering my performance so badly 😊

    Today I had high hopes that using a death grip would be the solution. Still shot low left. 😢 My last clip, I remembered your tip on sticking out the pinky finger, and the craziest thing, my shots where in the center. Holy shit! This worked. Thank you! I can’t wait to get back to the range to see if I can shoot consistently in the center.✌️

      @@baersolutions I am what I would consider a newer handgun shooter. Less than a year of owning and firing my own handgun. I shoot at an indoor range at least twice a month for now.
      Im working on not putting my shots low and to the left like the video describes (R Hand shooter, L Eye dominant).
      THE TARGETS ARE FREE TO DOWNLOAD AND PRINT BY THE WAY!!
      In the book it talks about the mentality of the rubber band on the finger and how a boxer/fighter wouldn't just throw a punch out there and leave it.. when I practice the TOTALLY FREE "Danny" target (#2) I am having issues getting into a comfortable groove shooting the 1,2,3,4,5 and the 12345. I'm comfortable with the 1 thousand and the 1 and 2 but when it gets to shooting faster, accurately, I either freeze up and pin the trigger down with a slow reset or I throw the rounds all over the place.
      I will continue to dig into this book, which in my opinion is very easy to read and understand without it being dull or "too simple" and I will practice more on not holding the trigger hostage and sinking my rounds low and left.
      Thank you for these free insight videos, free targets and for putting out a book that is about training, about getting better and not just another book from a veteran about how they changed a tire on a Huey at 30,000 feet with one hand while returning fire.
