Was waiting for this one. Undoubtedly my favorite class of locomotive. Would *kill* to see one run again!!!

Excellent review of Galesburg Railroad Museum. I had been a regular visitor to Galesburg Railroad Days every June since 1979. Back in 1985 Galesburg Art Museum was selling tickets to win a special commissioned wood framed stain glass window of 3006 front facing profile. It has been on display in front of my window of every house we moved to. Always a great conversation piece, I missed going to the RR days celebration since I moved to Texas. Thanks again for the memories.

1:00 Sometimes I forget that 1522 wore a CB&Q 5 chime during her excursion career.

What a handsome example of a preserved CB&Q "Hudson" 4-6-4 type locomotive, the Burlington rr Hudson types had a unique appearance being equipped with "Mars lights" at the front of the boiler which made the different from other railroads "Hudson" type engines.

No. 3007 at the Illinois Railroad Museum is also set up to burn coal as were all 14 CB&Q Hudsons as originally built. Around 1950, two of the Q Hudsons were converted to oil and assigned to "Lines West" at Lincoln, NE. Those locomotives were nos. 4002 and 4003, both of which were sold for scrap in November, 1960. No. 4002 was originally no. 3009 while no. 4003 was originally 3008. Both were renumbered in 1938 when they were rebuilt with roller bearings and other improvements. Five Q Hudsons are preserved. No. 3001 at Ottumwa, IA, 3003 at Burlington, IA, 3006 at Galesburg, 3007 at IRM and no. 4000 in LaCrosse, WI.
