    Some spoiler free advice for people playing the game:
    If you're ever not sure where to get something, explore. You'll eventually find it, or you'll find something else that's worth your time.
    If you can upgrade something, do it. A tier 2 thing is better than 5 tier 1 things.
    A bigger backpack and faster move speed is essential. Basic storage crates are crap, get locker storage when you can.
    A door and one room is cheap. Build sheds everywhere for easy air and you can go anywhere.
    The map is not randomly generated, keep an eye on the horizon for landmarks (there's plenty of them) and you'll have an easy time navigating.
    And lastly, this isn't a cleanup game, you don't need to pick up every last piece of cobalt off the floor unless you're in dire need of cobalt. It'll still be there if you need it later.

    Reminds me a little of Subnautica with the oxygen thing. Enjoying this, I can see why this was so popular. I cringe every time he said I've got enough iron and I'll leave the iron behind and pick up the rarer stuff. :)

    The spacesuits are purely cosmetic, but are very useful for multiplayer as it'll help differentiate players from each other.
    Also, you may want to build your more permanent base somewhat further up than your current base. :)

      @@shdwbnndbyyt that sounds similar to my "history", although mine started a bit earlier with SR-52 (with magnet card reader to store software), some DIY kit (6502, 1.25 kb ram, hex keyboard and 7segment display, and audio cassettes as storage), followed 44 years ago by Apple ][+ (also 6502, two 5.25" floppy drives @140kb each, b/w tv set for display, 16kb ram, upgraded to 48kb and finally self-invented upgrade to 144kb) and Atari 1040 ST (first with 3.5" floppy, later external 10 MB harddisk) until it got its ports fried during some lightning, thus forced to switch to PCs, starting with DOS 3.2 and and a short time later also win 3.1 (as some application software to be installed on top of DOS :-)

      @@Anson_AKB My first computer experience was at Carnegie Mellon U at a pre-college summer program, using their DEC-20 mainframes via terminals. Then I took courses in high school, on our obsolete in 1961, bought for "Student use only" IBM 1401 4k Core Ram with 8 k core ram extender using punch cards and no parentheses -- % was left parenthesis, a character with concave curved sides and flat top & bottom was the right parenthesis. Oh, and the "Student use only" computer was so busy earning money running municipalities' tax bill, sewer/water utility bills and the like that students had to submit their programs to be run over night. Eventually we were sent to the county's community college 20 miles away to use their terminals and mainframe to do out programming... which we had to do outside of school hours.

    4:30 - _"should have brought space food"_ ... food was the biggest problem for me until i got the food growers, and that is a goal you should work for.
    but you don't need to carry lots of food when exploring : water and oxygen are always refilled to 100% when you consume capsules (and thus consume them as late as possible), but with those (temporary) stations you can build them, breathe, and deconstruct them to have an unlimited amount, and for water in the early game you can build a craft station in those stations to use ice.
    in contrast to these two, you need to do exploring for space food until you can make food yourself, and you only get some different percentage (look at the help popup) of health from foods. thus you should eat as soon as some food item will not get you above 100% (thus missing part of the effect). but there is no need to wait longer than that. in this case, you could well have eaten already two space food before leaving your base to have almost full health with no need to use inventory slots for more food.
    btw: the blue chips are very useful, and you should collect and research them whenever possible. to research them, you also can build the screen in a station, research them, and deconstruct the screen. there is no need to carry them around until you happen to be back at your base.

    Iridium's not so bad. The sandfall on top of the cliff can be seen a ways off, and it makes that a natural early point of investigation. Then you can see into the caves from well outside it, and the iridium glows. Another thing that pulls the player in to see.
    It does help if you move onto the higher, flatter ground near the cave early on admittedly. That felt natural to me, but everyone plays different. :)

    • @Anson_AKB
      @Anson_AKB 8 месяцев назад +1

      in my first game i didn't know yet how *_important exploration_* was, and what to do first and where to go next.
      thus i moved higher relatively early, but towards the ship next to the ice-blocked cave. explored the ship and collected resources. built a nice base.
      and then started a death cycle without food :-(
      the iri and alu areas were too far away to see or find them or get to them without starving. and it took forever to reach food growers without those resources.

    While you happen to know there's Iridium in the cave ... it's a more natural progression to want to explore the ship you can see at the top of the hill. Working towards that goal, you will find at least 1 iridium inside the ship, which moves you on your way. So, I think it's unfair to characterize the iridium hurdle as "user unfriendly."

    • @danielbudney7825
      @danielbudney7825 8 месяцев назад +3

      Hearing that you asked AKissForLuck about where to find Iridium, it seems to me that either (1) you didn't have a flashlight to explore the ship, or (2) you had not build the Deconstruction chip. Those two together will /guarantee/ you an Iridium off the ship, in addition to some extras you might find in boxes randomly.

  • @hubertnnn
    @hubertnnn 8 месяцев назад +18

    For any viewers: While it is possible to get irridium from the cave, your are supposed to get your first irridium from exploring the ruins (eg. the crashed ship that you can see from the lander).

      Worst part is that you don’t really need it early on. Working on the pressure gives you lvl 2 drills, which also adds heat.

    • @NarturArkano
      @NarturArkano 8 месяцев назад +9

      There's no real "supposed to" in a game like this. The cave is just as natural a source of iridium as the ships, possibly more so. It's even on the way to two of the ships. I've played through quite a bit a couple times, and I'll do exactly what Quill did in this regard by grabbing some materials and making a small compartment inside the cave rather than risking asphyxiation in the ships just to deconstruct a heater.

    • @larrywooters8635
      @larrywooters8635 8 месяцев назад +2

      That cave is full of more than enough iridium for the early game. Exploring crafts and opening chests as late as you can provides better rewards.

    • @shdwbnndbyyt
      @shdwbnndbyyt 8 месяцев назад +1

      I tend to build a couple of bases, one outside that crashed ship... and one for storage and oxygen refills INSIDE the "entry hall" of the ship... that 5-10 seconds of travel time means a lot when you are exploring ships on T1 & T2 air tanks.

    sooo umm, how are you using wind power in 226nPa air pressure atmosphere??

    • @Anson_AKB
      @Anson_AKB 8 месяцев назад

      yes, windpower without atmosphere (air pressure), heat distribution without atmosphere, liquid water at almost absolute zero (0K), etc, or later hotter than the sun, etc ...
      in this game you have to forget about SI units, and only look at the prefixes of units (1000p=n, 1000n=µ, 1000µ=m, 1000m=1, 1000=k, 1000k=M, 1000M=G, 1000G=T, etc).
      all values are only relative numbers (all starting at 0) on scale that the terraformation company made up to give some indicator for "advancing the terraformation".
      in an early version, i even got to more than 100% oxygen in the air :-) but as "only some number" it is good enough to see that and how fast you advance somehow.

      @@hubertnnn Since I watch at 720 p... grandfathered in, cheap internet (with two recent $5 price increases over the past 6 months it is now $24.95 a month from $14.99)... I do not care. No longer working due to disabilitis - injuries as well as health - a few years from retirement, so have a limited income.... I only have two options out here, cable (which I have) and satellite, which costs more and I found required me to have a land phone line back then... more expenses.
