Basically the plot is that Henry won the war and took the throne, so to establish a peace within a country he marries Elizabeth because she's from the rivalry house, but both of them don't want that marriage. Caterina is his childhood friend and she's always there to advice him and help him. Elizabeth despises him and prays her brother will return to England, kill Henry and take the throne so she doesn't have to marry him. Even though he's promised to Elizabeth Henry loves Caterina and she loves him. Elizabeth's brother comes back and starts a war, Caterina decides to warn her that Henry will kill her entire family if he wins. Eventually he does win and kills them all, including Elizabeth. Caterina gets mad and feels sorry for them, at the very end she tells him indirectly that she does not love him anymore. Hope this clears up things :)♥
