You realize what a center diff is? That is the one that simply locks it into four wheel drive, instead of Rear wheel drive only. Center means the gearbox right behind the transmission, that sends power to the front wheels also.Back tires were spinning cause the REAR differential was not a lockable diff.

Nitram Midnite - Agreed it was interesting to see what this van can do in situations it fundamentally wasn't designed for. There are more capable 4x4 vehicles out there but can they be converted into a capable motorhome too. Always a compromise.
Because ESP is a poor system. It can't stop a spinning tire. Only slow it down. Its very hard on your braking system when you are driving through slippery conditions. Imagine trying to drive up a slippery hill, every time a wheel spins the ESP tries to stop it. The whole way up the hill you are trying to go but the car is stopping individual wheels.
+Gaetan Giroux Exactly Mercedes 313 2 wheel drive would have got in and out of 95% of those hard surfaces. You want difflock when one wheel in air of in slippery conditions, mud and wet grass inclined. Buy a sprinter pretend 4x4 and you are wasting money. And i have owned 3 sprinters Have 519 shocking traction esp on wet grass. Had 313 awesome on back trails going onto site, all it needed was larger diameter tyres and a mechanical diff lock. Didn't need 4x4. But if you fit larger tyres the esp system shits itself. All that hammering action noise is disc rotors locking up wheel and backlash in diff from load to no load to asp engaging and disengaging, damaging diff and braking systems. Jim is right a simple limited differential. But the bastards are too cheap they want $100k extra for a real limited slip diff.
Wow dude have you driven a Sprinter or 4 wheel drive before? I can manage some of those obstacles with my normal Sprinter and some speed.Diff is really would up and you should drive it backwards for a bit

What actually does this M.B. Spriner must have? It must have a central differential lock and differential lock for both axles. That is most equipment for off road vehicle. I would never want to drive M.B. Sprinter, from this video, off road because this is not off road vehicle.

You actually can buy locks for this model but it really gets ridiculously expensive plus they are not really great when it comes to reliability and rust proofness... so for everybody that actually has to buy it with his own money......stay away !!!

This test drive shows that a Sprinter desperately needs diff locks. All three of them. The axles hardly articulate.

I made the mistake of purchasing a 2013 sprinter new, biggest piece of shit I've ever owned. Happiest day of my life was when I got rid of it.
I recently met a Sprinter, who said he had the worst owner ever. He's happy with the new one, though.
