I think I watched this video before I bought my 2016 4x. On my way home I went through Zion NP in Utah and headed up my favorite steepy near the park. Forgot to gear it down into low and found myself up a very steep hill with no power.
That was a joke of off-road capability. The only impressive parts were the step angle considering how top heavy the van is/would be, and the mud pit with the articulation with the rear tire coming off the ground. I did think however it was cool though that the 4X4 had traction control. That is a BIG plus vs the financial cost to get front and rear locking differentials.
4x4. It has a hi and low transfer case. Nice. www.mbvans.com/sprinter/shopping-tools/build-and-equip#/model/model/sprinter/bodyType/CV/wheelbase/144/roofHeight/high/powertrain/gas/gvwr/9050/year/2019
I heard one can run with 4x4 in any speed and terrain with the Sprinter, essentially like an AWD,,, I'm still trying to verify that information, I prefer AWD .
It's always nice future to have automatic doors on the sprinter. If you looking for one check out this company. AdorUSA.com They make 2 types of openers for Sprinters for last 15 years. I have one on my sprinter. 2 years. Works great. Affordable and easy to install.
So by them having that HUGE ASS roll cage, are they telling people this shit is unsafe ? I'm only looking at this platform because I may be going Nomadic, and I MUST have a 4x4. So the search continues. That one spot,I thought she was a goner....... Have to test drive.....Lord knows a FORD 4x4 van is way better looking but power choke diesels suck ass.
These sprinters tip over on slight grades, these are not off road vehicles. Jeepers never see Sprinters out there, you know why? Because they can't make it out there. No one is going to risk getting their $180k sprinter stuck in the middle of nowhere where it can't be towed out. These are basically show vehicles for yuppies to compete on who looks like a bigger off roader. It's funny reading sprinter forums, these people buy these expensive vehicles and have no idea about wheels, axles, gears, offroading, etc... They think their car battery is going to power their AC in death valley for weeks... In their rush to post their first pictures of their camping spot, they only research all these things afterward...
I have a 2016 4X Sprinter and I am smart enough to completely agree with you. But 2 steps to a full size mattress after turning the key off does feel nice at times.
+CLEVEN11 No I have newer Sprinters and a ml320 CDI with the 3.0 diesel - the main issue is with these is all the electronic sensors on the engine are low quality and are made in China or Mexico. The pressure sensors and heat sensors fail on the exhaust and engine randomly. The replacement parts you get from dealer are all made in China too. I finally replaced the important sensors ( that will shut the engine down and lockdown ecu) with parts made in Germany to get some reliability out of the engines. Also keep in mind newer diesels with dpf's are all troublesome. It's a real bummer when these things break out on the road and you have to have them towed in and connected to Wi-Fi so Mercedes can log and clear engine codes then wait for the dealer to fix them.
@@TheLtrentlage Think I will keep my 2004.Have had no problems really with 140000 miles. One EGR valve and one set of brakes at 89000.Do all the maintenance my self and get great MPG.
@@TheLtrentlage I used to be a dealership tech and worked on these vans, The DPF and SCR (cat) would always fail on the V6 models between 160k and 190k miles, costs 6 grand to replace it all. the 4 cyl models had far fewer emissions problems though, they could go hundreds of thousands with no issues and the 4 cyl engine makes almost as much power as the V6. The older T1N models with the straight 5 cyl engines were beasts as well. if you have a V6 model, make sure to check the DPF mounting bracket for cracks, if it cracks the DPF will move around and break the exhaust flex joint and then blow hot exhaust gases on the wiring harness, very labor intensive and expensive to fix.
What's special is that a 2 wheel drive sprinter will get stuck on wet grass. No joke I own a 2004 and even with snow tires it has the worst traction on any incline. It's a great van otherwise but I need to upgrade to 4WD. Made mine into a camper and don't want to do all the build again so thinking of a 4WD conversion but the 20 grand is a deal breaker. Than again the new one in 4WD is over 60 grand.
Keep it moving
Your the man
Christ I got all exited and thought Bourne was gunna come on🤣

Want to sell it to me now? 😂
SOLD !
Tu as tort..tu t'es fait piéger comme les autres!!
This guy reminds me of Professor Frink off the Simpsons. Especially the laugh.
Can anyone comment on what size and brand tires this sprinter has?
My dream adventure van!!!!!! Amazing!!!!
Gentlemen, thank you for a very well presented video and NOT using the word "awesome." Kudos!
Best review ever!!!
specific model of this beaut?
It's Alan Partridges brother :) Good review though, I want one.
Let me have a go! Would be a must much entertaining video!
Doesn't have hill decent but not to worry it has those new fangled brakes
160 hp, geez my transit has 270 and it's slow. I couldn't imagine driving this slow thing
nob 516 would have twin wheels at the back! He should know that
what is a sprinter 4 before ?
Why Roll cage? Should be crash worthy from factory?
Rolls are not in standard crash tests.
if its a press van, will probably be needed for insurance reasons
Hey Editor! Really clever work on the first scene, well done.
Four before?
why is the bloopers in the begining? hmmm
Keep it moving, keep it moving don’t let it stop.......
firebir11 just keep it moving
My face the entire time: 😱
Infelizmente o Brasil não tem esse carro 4x4
Bring back the Ford E150s they were awsome

...to be fair though, "impressive" articulation would specifically prevent said wheel from coming off the ground.
The driver is a bloody numpty!
Това е много далеч от OFFROAD!!
Great video ... is the van 4x4 or AWD?

@@mannyechaluce3814 For off road 4 wheel drive is better than all wheel. AWD is better for roads
whats a 4B4?
Don't see any chance of it tipping over in the real world...(lying on its side; "keep eet' moving, keep eet' moving!"
Как называется музыка вначале видео
Keep it going keep it going keep it going keep it going keep it going....
i want one i have an ecodiesel now
Wow!
He said 4be4. lol
I can prove it! 😀

any minute now he'l be overtaken by a FWD peugeot going sideways in that mud, followed by a fiat scudo
Ahh, too bad momentum does not determine capability.
A van a van a van van not any van a off road van yey I thought it’s a house

trailer and 4x4 tow vehicle is the way to go OR Truck camper :)
Sam.....I'm also looking at that...but any roadway fees will double with a tow trailer. Hum...
Jon 316
i like it
He is not the man.
the fact that you say 'the sprinter 4bi4' is literally THE most annoying thing i've ever heard

It's a 4x4 Show me what it can do that a rear wheel drive van can't do. Any van can drive through a puddle
Come on that muddy rutted section would stuck most vans for sure.
I've owed 2 Mercedes build quality is junk
Old Mercedes Vito I guess ?

Any old 2WD truck could do that course. I didn't see anything special really.
