Pretty crazy that they now want to charge for something that was previously included in the all-in-one package. I was excited at first upon hearing of the update, but pretty turned off now with that news. Even more crazy considering they have yet to implement Vray decals and a host of other functionality and even more so when you consider Unreal Engine is free for everyone. Not sure about their thinking on this one.
I will say that I don't see Unreal and Vantage as exactly the same things (yes, both are great in their own way for real time animation), but I do understand your sentiment, and it is shared by many others for sure.
Could not agree more. Wasn't the whole idea about their subscription model to offer an all in one solution? Pricing seems greedy as hell, too. Thanks, UE it is...
@@Learn-archViz I would agree they are not the same but in the same genre and appeal to a lot of the same audience. If the folks at Chaos were trying to gain some of that market share I believe this is shooting themselves in the foot. On another note, I've been using your Tutorials (Udemy) for a few years now, and have learned a lot from them. I appreciate and respect your knowledge and opinion. Looking forward to the Unreal/Twin Motion one. Thanks for all you do.
@@k21267 Thanks a lot! Yeah, I think we're on the same page about Unreal and Vantage. Not exactly the same, but definitely some overlap in users. The price is an interesting move.
Holly Molly, i had not seen there was a new version, thx for the vid (and news :D ) And also the the bad news about Vantage being out of the premium Vray pricing plan now.... :/ Bu honestly it may be the time to only use Vantage from now on.
Super bummed to see that it is no longer included in the Premium subscription. You now need to fork over another $658 on another subscription. We are being bled dry!!!!
From what I tried in live link and having several VRay suns and these must belong to the environment, I couldn't, with the scene states that it recorded a sun for each camera... it only accepts the sun of the active camera in the live link sun
This is what everyone is asking about it seems. To me it looks like there is still some functionality missing, because they don't mention these things in the release notes. I need to test
Can vantage reach traditional vray quality? Would love to just transition to have vantage to be primarily my render pipeline(rather than having to wait on render times and test in vray). Not only for animation but also for typical still renders/360
It is very similar to tendering with Vray GPU inside of Max, so quality is there even at much faster speeds, but not ALL features work in this case. Plus it adds a bunch of real time features, navigation, etc
This is barely an update and now its priced as a standalone? For Vantage to be an actual standalone it would have to do away with the dependency on Vray in Max and allow for external imports similar to Twinmotion or D5 and have its own feature set and libraries. Not sure who exactly this is for but its certainly not a complete product and much more expensive than other realtime solutions.
I think it is made for existing Vray users primarily, especially for animation purposes. I have tested the other real time solutions pretty extensively, and I will say that this still fills a gap for me, and/or enhances my workflow. I would agree with your feedback, though, especially on the new pricing model.
Personally I think Vantage has a long way to go. Sure it's quicker than Vray but the quality doesn't match the render time IMO and currently suits more for previz..So the fact you have to pay more, which is actually MORE than vray itself is just very strange. To pay over $1000 for the year for a single license for just a render engine is way too much if you ask me. Meanwhile Unreal is free and looks way better. They need to sort this pricing out, they should be using it as an addition to their subscirption which draws users into vray ecosystem, surely that generates more revenue than selling seperate to a few that are willing to pay the high price tag for both?
Actually, they used to have this "vray ecosystem" subscription... but a few months ago they decided to separate vantage from vray (i am very dissapointed about this decision cuz, as you say, the pricing just doesn't make sense)
With new licensing, fully functioning Vantage (with material editor) become 2x more expensive. You have to pay for Vray AND Vantage to get the same product as you had before. Vantage alone is useless, no Live link, no material editor. Chaos published unfinished product. I love Vantage as it was before under previous licensing. In our company we started to build new workflow around Vantage. On with price that is doubled, it will be impossible to keep the same strategy. Chaos need to reconsider their moves. Right now it doesn’t make any sense. Don’t get me wrong, splitting with Vray, ok, I stopped using it anyway. But keep live link, and vray interface on top.

i feel dissapointed too with chaos's lately decision making ...

What about Vray blend map, displacement map and vray decal?
I did not see any of that mentioned, sadly. I'll need to test, but the fact it is not mentioned means probably no.
cant you already transfer this over along with the scene?
Thanks man...took me 30 mins to figure out scene states...lol
Hmmm...sounds like it ought to be a little more intuitive 😀
Lol...I kept running my animation and it keep going to black since the default scene state had no hdri.
@mxmillo d'oh. This info will save me time later I bet. 😄
@Learn-archViz lol...but you're da man, bro. Can't wait for your scene states tutorial.

Definitely a concern for many
Does vantage have something similar to unreal with archviz explore using configuration, etc.
From what I tried in live link and having several VRay suns and these must belong to the environment, I couldn't, with the scene states that it recorded a sun for each camera... it only accepts the sun of the active camera in the live link sun
So, will the CPU be idle while running Chaos Vantage?
0% or 100% usage?
Is there any way to animate cars, trees....etc directly in Vantage? You do a great job.
Displacement?
It is not mentioned 😕
Nice, but what about dirt map, distance texture map and many moore procedural vray map?
This is what everyone is asking about it seems. To me it looks like there is still some functionality missing, because they don't mention these things in the release notes. I need to test
I just downloaded the latest chaos vantage and I’m not seeing the anima 4d people from axyz under the cosmos library…
Hmmm...I wonder how they are integrated then. I'll be looking into it more

look like theres no renderID still.

Unfortunately, Passes are not denoised.
Good to know

noo Displacement!!!
I didn't see it mentioned
when vantage will support corona 🙃
54$/mo.??? i feel like they WANT us to pirate it. that's just too much.
