I'm a KoW player who used to be a Warhammer Ancients player back in the day. The only things from the WH rules I really miss are the visuals of the "pile of bodies" and the break/flee/pursue/rally dynamic. But KoW plays a lot more smoothly and quickly than WH, and as I age I find that more important to me in a rules system. As you say, you can always buy GW figures to play KoW.... :)
@@Templepaintstudio You can use OPR with any models, it’s a great set of rules. Easy to learn even for a wargame novice like myself. Their online warband builder is also second to none. :)
@@TemplepaintstudioYeah, but of course it's more or less fine (thank god) since 4x3 of 25mm bases still amount to a very decent 100x80mm infantry regiment for Kings of War. 100x75 in reality, sure, but that 5mm can be covered with the regiment base well enough.

While you're at it, give One Page Rules AoF Regiments a go too. :)
I have been looking at them for awhile. I can't do 3-d printing right now because of my kids but I love the idea.

Apparently ToW has increased the base sizes of all the models (so 20mm squares are now 25mm, 25mm are 30mm, cav is 30x60, etc).
Of course they would.... Sigh.
I actually prefer it, and you don't have to rebase, get some movement trays that convert them. Much easier to rank up!
