- So far 200 Million Dollars were spent to build trails and infrastructures for Mountain Biking around Arkansas by the Walton Foundation (Walmart).
Leatherwod is one of the trail networks.

Now try the Walmart trails on a Walmart bike.
Upgraded schwinn Axum will handle it 💪🏼
That is a way to get hurt. I'm sure it's done but the way Remy rides, he would probably break a Walmart bike.
@@justsayin3600 Sam Pilgrim rode Whistler on a full rigid Wal-mart bike. So these trails would definitely be doable.
Yeah I was about to say somebody call Sam Pilgrim 😂
@@justsayin3600 an alloy frame is an alloy frame lol. It’s not like Santa Cruz welds better than Schwinn 🤣 Schwinn now produces tapered steer tubes, 1x drivetrains, bikes with dropper posts, etc. it’s not the 80s anymore
As someone who, in the past, has built ‘medium’ sized features out of just rock near Sheffield in the UK, I’m amazed by the amount of effort that has gone into those trails, particularly that rock step up…! Blimey! Insane! 👊😎🔥
yeah they did go big on certain features for sure. Love that rock step up
Which trails?
@@Laurieh850 Did quite a few dig days with a group called singletraction (I think) up at Wharny on Fast Track. We changed the entrance to a steep rock roll to the left as you looked down the trail, put in the launch off to the right and then the kind of step down into the Gulley to the left, made the whole next rock garden section rideable before building a mound of rocks onto a Boulder off to the right of the main, old track just before it opened into the lower section of the hill under the pylons. Heavy work with all those rocks! Can’t remember any of the names of the other guys who organised the digs though… 😔
Also it’s been about ten years since I was last up there so it is probably all different now anyway.
Innit?!!
Dude they have a solid rock road gap step down and my favorite: a take off, a flat Lilly pad and a landing made from 3 massive slabs. Each part of the feature is mase from its own massive rock slab. Absolutely ludicrous?
I appreciate how you always emphasize safety in your videos. No doubt you could have handled that unfamiliar drop. Way to lead by example.
I live in Northerst Arkansas. In Fayetteville, but grew up in Bentonville and Rogers. I remember before these trails became a thing. It is amazing to see how much they’re doing for the community and MTB itself. And don’t get it twisted, there is absolutely lots of gnar in Bville. There’s also a ton of intermediate and beginner trails because it’s a tourist destination. People that don’t know how to ride gnar can come here and have an absolute blast for a week and never ride all that our area has to offer. Bella vista has sweet trails. Eureka springs has a ton of hardcore riding spots. It may not be Whistler big but it’s still Garkansas! Also it’s a lot of fun to have places that are chill and flowy but still be able to rip a session the next trail over. If you live here it’s a lot cooler than just visiting. People ride these trails on their way to work and back 😂 or on the way to pick up a gallon of milk. Pretty sick.
KILLER VIDEO! Remy, I've been watching your videos since you started making them. When I heard you were coming, I KNEW that there wasn't anything here to challenge you. We were all joking that they would take you to DH7 at Lake Leatherwood, or possibly the first gap-to-rock lander at "Redrum" at Centennial, and you would say, "OK, where are the big features?" after looking at them. LOL
People need to keep it in perspective that everything here is pretty new...within the last 5-7 years. Downhill 2 at Lake Leatherwood was rougher, the drop was taller, and it was the ORIGINAL and ONLY downhill trail we had with any features, and that's where all of the Arkansas DH races were held. So we don't have anywhere NEAR the experienced riders that you have in the Squamish area, so if the builders had built radical features like what you have, no one would ride them. They would just fall apart and be unridden. We're still very new as a mountain biking destination.
People dog on our area, and I think it's mostly because of the "self-proclamation, but our locals had nothing to do with that. I wish the naysayers would at least keep that in mind, along with the fact that the abundance of mountain bikers are of average skill level, and never aspire to these types of risk. You can't build trails for tourism that cater only to advanced double black diamond riders, and expect many tourists...it's a very narrow market. You have to have an abundance of intermediate-level trails, and then add the more difficult trails over time.
I appreciate how you've stuck up for our area with your comments, and although I don't think it challenged you, it did at least sound like you and Ryan had fun and enjoyed your visit. Thanks for making the killer video of our area, and for all the ones you've made over the years.
Thank you!
@@remymetailler …You’re very welcome sir!
Well said :)
@@willbros1499 big facts. The average rider from BC is not anywhere near comparable to the people these trails are meant to reach
@@hambo76 ... Truth. "I want to go climb 4K feet, and then descend 4K feet." Don't come to Arkansas then...or if you do, be prepared to climb 200, ride one trail back down...climb the 200 again and ride a different trail down...lather, rinse repeat. We have more than that in some places with a few hours drive from Bentonville, but that "hub" design with multiple runs is really what the terrain allows for, and I think the builders have done well with what's available...for the most part.
That was spectacular! Ryan was also an excellent pick for a riding partner. That lilly pad feature is a trip to the hospital for me. 13:10. But you made it look easy.
Ryan is awesome!
Remy you are a joy to watch. Do you just treat every drop as a jump?
The Leatherwood trails are legit, and the awesome folks at the Gravity Feed & Topo Hotel make the trip super worth it!
what a sick place to ride, love all the rock...I gotta make a trip down there from canada
Super cool getting to meet you at bike fest. Pretty flat around here with lots of pedaling for sure but glad you guys came. I always enjoy your videos, keep it up.
Bentonville is now and forever known as Arkansauce. Thanks Remy.
Was a pleasure ride with you this day bro! Thanks
Fun times
The fact that you brought up the ticks just bought a huge smile to my face. They are hardly an issue here in the PNW, but back east (where I'm originally from) they are obnoxious. Just step your foot down briefly in a little bit of vegetation and you got at least one on you. That looks like a much better area than right in Bentonville.
These videos make me feel better about walking features
Great riding. I like how you emphasize safety and walking a feature before attacking it. So many new riders take risks on unfamiliar trails. Kudos 😀
Absolutely!
Good riding with you guys there! Glad to see you conquered all the features there, especially DH7!
Worked for 6020 for almost a decade.... Some awesome job letters from my experience at Wal-Mart... now in Belize 🇧🇿 and we have mountains but no mountain bike trails heads!! Please can we change this 🙏 these kids need this confidence building sport in this country.... I know the Walmart brothers seen my grey Dodge truck with my mountain bike on the back hitch waiting to get off work in the parking lot of 6020..🙋🏽♂️♾🇧🇿🚴♂️🤙🏽🐲🎯💯🚵♂️✌🏽
That send to flat on DH7 drop is nuts 🤣 many folks avoid Leatherwood because it is definitely gnarly, video doesn't do justice to how expose some features are. Specifically DH1 lily pad. Great video loved it 💪🏻
Best video (riding skills and coverage) of Leatherwood I’ve ever seen.
100% agree.
Fun content, thx for creating. Ticks are prevalent throughout BC as well, where many of your vids are shot. As a chronic Lyme disease sufferer I want everyone taking precautions. Bug spray with Icaridin is your best defence as far as I know. Happy riding.
Oh good, he didn't give up mountain biking. I saw that last video that said he almost gave up mountain biking but it looks like he stuck it out and he's doing alright! Yaaaay!
True story
Remy you should try and hit the Quebec City area. Tons of options to ride ( and you can crack out the French! ). It’s on our list this summer to hit a few networks there.
Keep inspiring
Ryan rides like he’s late for work but doesn’t give a fuck if he still has a job when and if he gets there. Definition of shredding!
Hahaha🙏🤘
I live anywhere from 50 minutes to a couple hours away depending where you go it blew my mind when I first went there. You will not be disappointed. I live close to Branson Missouri. Theres also a few nice places in the Branson area so if for some reason your family ever drags you there I'd bring your bike
Yooo love your vids Remy keep up the amazing content!! You very talented and i see you as the best rider in the world
super stoked to see you here in the states and in Bentonville! I'm only a couple hours away. lots of shale rock that breaks up loose and and big limestone granite
Glad to see you got out to Leatherwood. I enjoyed getting to meet and ride with you. I had a blast and learned tons.
Andrew a great dude and a great guide there! That alternative line off 5 is a fun one
I hope to get down to Bentonville soon as it's a four hour drive for me from Kansas. Love the video!
Remy be like: Double Black diamond? You mean blue flow trail?
OMG.. the best! my now favorite coverage of B'ville area! And the skills F@ Honestly I even freaked to your simple (haha) flat rock drop at the 6:20 mark. From a dead stop 2 feet from edge you drop that 6 footer like it was nothing. And Ryan's fluid style! You guys are so much fun to watch. THANKS!!
This place looks amazing!
We are planning a big trip to Arkansas next summer.
The kids are stoked
this guy is so fun i love his little 'whoop!'s and 'sick!'s
So amazing, your such a smart and slick rider. Wow, so fast.
I'm from that area. It's really great. If you like being outside, it's the place to be.
Saw this first on BCPov, now on your channel, just great! Greetings from Germany!
I love how Remy says "Arkansas". My favorite part of the video.
This is a very beautiful place! Cool track! A lot of drop place. Very interesting video! Thank you very much Remy for what you are doing! ❤🔥
Making it look easy as usual, and got a taste of the rock to the ankle bone, a little love tap from Arkansas.
merci
Ryan is such a nice guy. Got to meet him at Dylan's 420 jam.
Watch the ticks!! Smart!
One of my favorites of yours recently. Such awesome trail work beautiful fun looking rock features.
Can not even imagine if we tried that on the group ride at bike fest. Haha. I was happy enough with thunderdome. Great talking to you and Ryan. Glad you came down and hope you enjoyed the trip.
So sick. I had a camping trip with a friend planed this month. We were gonna drive in my van from N .Ga and camp out for a week. Unfortunally we had to cancel. Hopefully next year ! Thanks for the video ! Looks like you guys had a blast ! 🤙
I wish you could have come to Shepherd Mtn in Missouri for some big rock features in the woods!
One of the owners of Walmart is a huge MTB guy. So he made a bike company and started the trail foundation.
My mind is always blown by these videos Remy. Insane!
Looks magic
The local trail wizard in my area makes some really cool looking features like that
Remy, please head to the UP of michigan! Copper Harbor and Marquette are amazing places to ride with some great DH trails!
Remy, If you liked this... you need to visit Marquette Michigan and Copper Harbor Michigan!
You met adhd mtb too, talked to him at the Railyard a couple months ago he’s a good dude. Never knew he was the shuttle driver, that’s so sick
Last time I went to Leatherwood it felt like I was riding on marbles. Great comment about the front brake not being a great idea down here. lol
Damn I love this channel. Shout-out to GoPro's stabilization too. On that crazy rocky trail the footage looks so smooth. And of course amazing riding helps everything look smooth as well.
Remy do you do anything special with the settings or post production on these videos to make them look so smooth like apply additional stabilization or anything?
perfect with the good rider in front of you! 👌👌
Cool to see you checkin out drops instead of just hitting em blind..saves weeks( or months) off the bike to a stupid fall..checkin out a feature lets you see the line and the speed or any pull needed🤙🤙
Now thats the shit I like. full speed send fast nice trails LOVE IT
One of your best videos yet!
18:22 how TF dint they put that feature on the line . . . that's a missed opportunity
rest is really well build and enjoyable
🍻
Soo rad!! Video doesn't give justice to the size of some of these features, but you rode them flawlessly! 🤘
Almost had to laugh when you were saying how rough the trail was...Bentonville has some of the smoothest features I've ridden. I get it though, rock terrain is different/not like B.C. Great riding as usual. \^^/
Leatherwood terrain is definitely waaaay rougher than Bentonville
Leatherwood has much more rough and gravely soil than Bentonville, it’s kinda slick but in a fun way
youtube subtitles on a french person speaking english are hilarious. Beautiful riding dude
I dont think id ever take anything over BC trails but that rockwork style looks fun asf
Watching you doing all this Gaps, Drops and jumps without wearing a fullface helmet hurts. Why? Keep going. All the best. Wish i could ride like you.🤘
Somehow I haven’t been to these trails even though I live 2 hours away in Arkansas. I know a guy who did the trails on a Walmart bike it was hilarious 😂
Get out there asap
The way you pronounce Arkansas😆 Awesome vid😎
ahahah
Those trails are like here in Texas, rough, rocky, gravely, and loose. I'm always washing out.
I'm glad Remy knows his limitations at the end of the day. Cool to see him ride in Bentonville.
Awesome Vid. Thank you.
After you ride the trails in R-kan-sas you should make the drive to regular kan-sas. It's home to some of the steepest and most technical terrain in all of the United States of Joemerica.
Ponca BOC is sick!
Holy cow and its milk on shelf number 34 at Walmart
What is that ? O.m.g what a playground - never seen before. Amazing!
Your buddies has a cool Style . Love it !
Great video +++++
Thanks for the visit
Isn't it amazing what a $72,000,000,000 inheritance can create?
I got my chainring stuck in a tree on dh2. It was my first time at llw and this was before I had a real mtb. Good times🤣
Are can saw …Arkansas-- you had me in tears from jump
Sick video Remy!⚡️
I’m sure Walmart enjoyed the $200m tax write off for funding this trail system as well!
For sure, but the community loves it there. Everyone I chatted to enjoys the place.
@@remymetailler win win!
I hate to defend Walmart but it’s still a massive cost to them. Probably only get like 25% back on that $200M
I like tacky stuff also. I don't like feeling like I'm going to slide out if I take a berm with no brakes.
🔥 🔥 Wow 🔥 🔥 SIK lines
Not many people know, Remy is actually the French Canadian Ronnie Coleman.
yes REMY YES
hucking to flat @ 6:25, no freggin way
i love the guy that gets no fist bum at 17:00min xD i saw it :D
Those jumps in real life must look at lot bigger then in video. In video that didn't seem like much of a drop but you guys saying it's 7 feet and I can see how way he's standing and drop is taller then him that it must be accurate. It's just the video doesn't do it justic. I imagine if i was there in person that drop would like far scarier. I wish I had access to these types of trials when I was younger. sadly none of this existed to my knowledge. at least not in area's i was raised in. I wish I was born and raised in an area where mountain biking was more common. I could see myself doing this. I actually almost got into bmx riding as a kid but my parents had no time to take me so i only got to go to a local bmx track a handful of times only.
I must know what jersey the other Propain rider has on! Someone help me out
Bo Hellams and Jimmy Smith are the only two I know of to jump the whole lilypad
Props to them. Not a small gap!
200 mil would have gone a long way toward making their employees actually have a livable wage. good to see their priorities are straight.
Man someone get some guys with rakes and a blower in there to clean them trails up, its a sin they are not maintained.
Dont play with them tics bro. I got Rocky Mt Spotted Fever from one in NC on Tsali trail system 20 years ago and it almost killed me. Still have problems from that little bastage.
R Kansas represent
Rock + shin = "that family guy meme" 😬😩😬😫
I can do this also!
"Ar-kansas"😂 gotta come to MA and hit lynn woods and pine hills
Finally billionaires benefit regular people. Of course that's only because one of the Walton airs loves the mountain bike.
"im going to take it easy".. 4 corners later back to full speed
Wait, that's how you pronounce "Arkansas"? I've lived in America my whole life and always pronounced it as "Ark-in-saw" 😂
ArKansas 🤘
If Walmart makes this trails it would be first Walmart thing what cant be broken up
Now how about u trying the trails inside Walmart around "getting home from work" hrs and see how long it takes you to conquer this!
ixs do great knee and shin pads remy.....just saying...awesome riding
Dood needs Teal Stem Caps
Actually Wal-Mart hired a trail building company OZ Trails.
Of course they hired a few different trail building companies. They did a good job with the terrain there.
