I've noticed that courtship and real romance is becoming a lost art as well, especially in the under 30 age category. Eyes meeting across a room, flowers, holding open a door to let the woman through first, just what was being said in your video. However, I don't believe it's bitterness. --- My take on it is that technology has started to insidiously seep into the way people interact (like your mention of Tinder) creating a social distance (no COVID pun intended) from the very beginning and we're just noticing now. Then the two people meet and that distance is embedded into their interaction in person. --- Technology provides an easy way to contact people, but if it's to blossom into romance, that technological generated anti-social attitude has to be overcome quickly, otherwise you're just another face - attractive and bed worthy? Maybe, but marriage? A successful relationship must have mutual romance, respect and communication not provided by the likes of dating apps.
Great, insightful video! I liked the fact that you shared your views and experiences based on your interactions there, alongside the interview clips. The honesty with which they shared their opinions is truly admirable! Congrats on 54k subs- almost half way to 60k!
In the 2000s, I attended a social event in Washington DC called East_West Connection. The organizer, Tony Young, had a group of couples (3 or 4) talk about the cross-cultural marriages they were in. What came out of it was that statistically, these marriages have a much higher success rate. The reason is that both partners realize going into the marriage that they will have to put forth considerably more effort to make the relationship work. The results speak for themselves. The divorce culture is unfortunate, but it can often come down to values (i.e. commitment). The standard vows are "to love and to cherish, for rich or poor, in sickness or health, 'til death do us part." For many, after saying "I do", they then look around to see if they can do a little better.
My mum always say: "Love & trust are 1 package deal. It's impossible to have 1 without the other." About romantic relationship, I still remember vividly my friend said: "I don't date or marry someone only because of love. It's important, but it's also for survival of my generation. It's something I can't take lightly. That's why I don't go around getting girls just for fun & then leave her."
How people can get to know and trust another person if they don’t know themselves? Love yourself first so then you can love others as much as you love yourself, 10 years of solitude will give you the strongest heart and mind to share with another imperfect human
wow for such a young woman your very wise and intelligent, way beyond your years. I can agree 100 percent about people/relationships in general. I think part of the relationship disparity is due to economic social status.
Well done Alina! As a Hispanic male from United States, Russian women are beautiful and they are completely different from Hispanic women and I know that Russians have a tradition to get married and have children early and after a certain age, it's considered "old." If they are married, the ring is to be worn on the right ring finger. I met and dated a Russian woman when I was 22 back in 2009 and she was 29, not a big age difference and we were later engaged to be married. We later broke up but it's part of life and moved on. At the end of the day, I would definitely say that I would pick Russian women over American women any day. You look phenomenal Alina!
So happy to see this content here for everyone to watch. Alina has been amazing to work with and look forward to working again soon. What a great time to sit back and watch these now. Great work Alina
Being partly Ukrainian but brought up in The Netherlands I do kinda find myself in a limbo all the time between two cultures. I'm in my early twenties and my parents and grandparents were all married between 18-24 y/o and in the beginning I felt this underlying pressure after I turned 18 that I had to start looking for a long term relationship (I still do, but there is no self imposed pressure anymore). But all my friends and people my age already had multiple 'disposable' relationships by 18 already and I had no luck in finding something long term. I ingrained into myself that those short relationships were futile and that I won't date someone unless i see them as a long-term/marriage 'material' which makes it quite hard to start dating random people. When I actually did start dating I found myself acting very much like a stereotypical Russian man because I wanted to be the caretaker, act chivalrous and scratch that romantic itch. I once had to argue with my date that I would pay for the date hahah, this is what I love about The Netherlands specifically because it's hard to get taken advantage of. On my first date with her SHE PAYED FOR ME (we knew eachother before we dated though). I was pretty weirded out because my brain wouldn't accept that but in the end we just switched around who payed each date. Maybe I just have the best of both cultures. I pretty much agree with the older man in the video, marrying is something you would do around 30 y/o, or earlier if you are happy with that ofcourse but divorce rates are out the roof. Everyone is an individual and experiences will differ but cultural values are really hard to rewrite, avoid or ignore.
I wish in my country at least (New Zealand) Eastern Europe was publicized more..as it never is. Commonwealth countries owe so much to these Countries, the people for the sacrifices they made . They still seem to hold traditions, which is dying in the west, fast. Lovely video
@Malik Ahmad No we dont...she has legalized full-term abortion.People are living on the streets..she is a socialist Prime Minister. 300 000 children live in poverty... We find the admiration of her from the radical Islamic world appalling. The people of NZ will be voting her out this election. #labourmustgo NZ is a Christian built nation. We want to keep it that way, and we will. Maori and Pakeha people.
@@Lukeclout Yes you are correct....she was never voted in, she was gifted PM through our MMP system. She isn't very popular...NZ is becoming the Venezuela of the south pacific..i don't want to leave political comments on a non-political channel...but you did ask
Yeah, but some of those traditions need to die. They're not as homophobic as they used to be but they're a hell of a lot more homophobic than New Zealand, that's for sure. The girl who made the RUclips video in this article ended up claiming asylum in the USA and the guy claimed asylum in Germany: www.bbc.com/news/av/world-europe-50508431/russians-under-threat-over-gay-qa-video
The man is right. We really do not get accustomed to marriage contracts, only among very rich social strata. I am from Moscow, married at 22, and happily lived with my wife for 30 years. She died of cancer 4 years ago.
Hello Alina, Thank you for your clear presentation of the difference in relationships between woman en man in Eastern Europe en North America. Maybe you can also find that difference in view if you look to the languages, Russian and English. In the Russian language, there is much more difference in gender than in the English language. Even courtship, engagement, and marriage have different names for men and women.
I'm from north America & have been married for 20 years with a woman from Russia. Paradoxically even though there are "roles", which can indeed weigh, I actually find there is actually more freedom in the directness of relationships there. You waste a lot less time than in US/Canada. Much less BS. Also remember that women in CCCP did virtually all the jobs that men did----they bring a certain confidence that is still very feminine. It is almost not possible to express how different the relationship feels. The biggest takeaway is that one can be much more honest & sincere over there as opposed to "na zapode"/West
I am from Tel Aviv and I have many Russian friends from them I learned the type of values you described in this video, which I prioritize while dating. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being high maintenance, on the contrary-when the women feels she receives more she automatically gives more in her own feminine ways. 😊
I think my first crush was Nick Carter from BSB in 1997 😁. The two gentlemen in the beginning really know what they want. You should see the divorce rates in Portugal (my country) and the amount of people that have children with different people these days. My opinion is each to their own and it seems that most people on my dad’s side of the family get married and have children “late” it’s always been like that I am not sure why even though my parents had me at 18 and 22. I have a distant cousin on my mum’s side that once said that she thinks that getting married and having children early is better, it worked well for her. Sadly I had a neighbour many years ago that had her 1st child at 14, 2nd child at 23 and died of cancer at 27.
Travel update. I just flew through DFW this week, and it was shocking how dead it was. The shuttle van dropped me off for departure and I was the ONLY person getting out at the curb to catch a plane.
Hello Alina, I want to say you have hit the nail on the head with relationships here in Canada! The romance has disappeared over the years here. I'm from Edmonton in a very large Ukrainian community, and have seen how North American couples have lost the true meaning of what a relationship truly is. I unfortunately have had a few marriages and have had my exes do many naive things. Now I will admit that I too have learned to accept my faults and improve my ability to be a better man. As I have grown, I too have learned the truth in investing into our partners and building a life with your chosen partner. Yet I have to experience this as of yet. But We as humans need to show the traits of honesty, trust, compassion and yes love towards your partner. These small hint's as you described would be a definite help to hopefully assist anyone seeking a partner. Honestly I can see from your upbringing that you are far more mature than many North American woman. Plus the Eastern way of thinking with regards to relationships too. You also show the seriousness of committing to a person and I like that about you! Once again a great video and presentation of the topic at hand and I pass my best and continued success to you and your projects Alina! With the dearest and great admiration, your new friend! Lol!! Hugs!
This is an interesting video; you should do this more often. In many ways Russian and Ukrainian still hold and practice many more traditional values and traditions than in many western countries. So I was not surprised with the street perceptions amongst young Russian about relationships. With liberalism political philosophy comes hand in hand with a liberalist social behavior which does not exist in countries like Russia and in other countries but so what really? I think we shouldn't emphasize marital statistics so much but parents or society need to teach the younger generations what marriage is really about which is more than a physical bonding.
Not just in Eastern Europe, everywhere in this world, its been like that except few western countries. Most of the people give importance to family, society, relationship(monogamy), faith, spiritual, respect to elders, education and job.
Middle eastern Canadian lives in Ontario. I don't know how old u r as u said u r not in a relationship yet :) however i think once someone thinks he is relatively financially stable may be around 28-32 years old would be a great age to get married. There's always ups and downs financially but better to take the decision once it is up as life changes every year so someone can't wait forever! You look gorgeous as usual !
I think that most important in relationships is romance and true love - the desire to support a person in his desire to realize himself, to help grow emotionally, intellectually and spiritually, moreover, is a willingness to give a person complete freedom to be himself and accepting him as he is, without trying to change him. I’m 35 years old, and I’m just starting to understand that I was formed as a person, I was not married and still have no children, although now I regret that I did not arrange a family life much earlier, now when I will be many years old, children will be still small, but I really want to see how they grow, develop and achieve success in the life😊
Brazil here! Relationship here is disposable in my opinion. Tinder is used a lot, but people just use to have fun (Parting, beer ...) (mostly) In my opinion, in this moment, I think man and woman must work to help each other, because each day become more difficult to conquer material things here. So together we can be stronger. There is no problem woman pay something to a man and a man work at home. Russian woman are famous to be very pretty and romantic here (the person who really care). Romantic people are scarce. Congrats for your work! Byee
Great theme for interview😎btw, maybe i've missed something, what is Yours real feeling about the theme, instead of logical rediness to relationsheeps, children etc😃
Based on your comments I foresee you marrying an Eastern European guy in the future. Since you visit Eastern Europe a lot, it is highly likely it would happen. I think your heart is ready for it and you have the maturity to handle it. Let us know when the 'Big Day' happens.☺
Good job on this subject. You gave good honest information . Yes, we do not see much on eastern way of living here in the west. Thank you for showing it . 🇷🇺 🇺🇸
Hi Alina! You tube has recommended me your channel and I liked. I think it is interesting. Then I am a new subscriber. Galante is a Latin word for Gentleman as these two guys mentioned. Question : So there is still single women over 30's out there (Rusia or Ukraine)? Or at this point all of them are married already? Cheers!
I'm 27 and dont see myself having a kid or getting married until 30 or 35. Ive had alot of relationships but u can tell at our young age that things wont last and they don't. Most of them I dated went on to have kids or get married and divorced. The stigma of dating is weird in us cause its so fast and the ghosting and talking to so many people is readily avaliable u dont really jave a chance to really get to know someone.
Canada is a terrrible place to marry/date for reasons polar to a complete other extreme in Russia and Slavic countries, which is also a terrible place to marry/date. Central europe has got it right
In the modern world all this technology that we have recently acquired has had a dramatic impact on basically everything, but women/girls are so connected ,I think its causing delay in getting married really its to the point that needing a man /husband(maybe even woman /wife) is totally optional-self/instant gratification is so easy many probably reason its easier and more convenient to just play it safe that is probably the future for a while for sure
Maybe they were shocked that you weren't married at 28 because you're too pretty to not be taken already. But obviously that it doesn't work that way in the west and you can just choose to marry later. Also, I think that divorce rates have been going up because people are cheating too much nowadays, both men and women. Additionally, because men are no longer the only breadwinner, the woman can just leave if her expectations aren't met, whereas a couple of generations ago they'd have to put up with a lot of crap for the rest of their lives because (1) she wouldn't have how to keep herself financially (2) divorce could negatively impact their kids' upbringing (and it still does to a certain extent), (3) social stigma. Today, it's easier (though not easy) to get around these things.
Yeah I actually don't think divorce is necessarily a bad thing. It should absolutely be done if a relationship has turned toxic and there's no working it out. It is horrible that people used to stay because they didn't see another way out. On the other hand, I think more thought and self development should be done before one chooses to get married in the first place.
i have dated a girl last year who looks exactly like you Alina. so alike that at first that i saw the video i thought you were here but then you spoke english which she can't and then i figured it out. just was interesting to me so i thought you might like to know too.
Alina, have you ever been to the Ukrainean festival in Dauphin Manitoba? Manitoba has a huge Ukrainean population. They came in the early part of the last century.,mostly mixed farmers.
Divorces happen everywhere because love is a trap, folks. It only lasts for a short time. Even more divorces happen when there is no love involved, only interest from one side or the other. Also men and women were not designed to spend a life time together. You get bored after a while, no matter how nice person you are.. This is a delicate subject. And there will never be a fix for it. That's why some chose to stay single their entire life and not have kids. And life just goes by.. 🍃
80% of your viewers male?! Well, you are very lovely to look at! In addition, you are articulate and intelligent and talk about many interesting things. What's not to enjoy?
Awareness is probably a keyword for our material existence, too. Spirituality, love, romantic, trust, mentality, social status, money... but if we start talking about the material side of our objective reality, then we often lose sight of what is perhaps the most important. When creating a family and especially at the stage of dating, which at any moment can turn into something Serious, as You said right. And what could be more important than what cannot be bought?! Nothing makes me sadder in our material existence than selfishness, egoism towards our children, our future generations - our material and spiritual future in the end. I don’t know how much ordinary people in the multinational North America attach importance to their genetic/ethnic roots (mostly european), but it seems to me in (also multinational) Russia more people care about it. My personal opinion is that we are all given free will and choice, so I just keep the hope that romantically minded people (women & men) find their "conscious love", which is no less beautiful than "usual", but gives much more common sense to relationships making them much stronger. And "gold diggers" will seriously think about what real "gold" is. I really (consciously) love that You raise important topics in your videos and this is the most important of them from a material point of view, in my personal opinion. Thank You very much ❤️ Осознанность, вероятно, также является ключевым словом и для нашего материального существования.
What’s wrong with Tinder? This is so funny coming from Russians and Eastern Europeans when online, international dating practically originated there. I’ve had two serious relationships from Tinder. You shouldn’t limit yourself to just the people around you. It’s better to go through a variety of people so you can gain experience and know when you meet the right person. It also takes time to become financially secure and educated enough to settle down and raise a family. Besides, it’s fun to go on dates and meet new people, which you can use for networking purposes as well.
I will like to add 2 cents of mine... I am from Lithuania (Baltic States) I know some people consider them as Eastern Europe , (but we personally don't). the things you explain about dating ,relationships ,family values... apply more for Russia,Ukraine,Belarus... not really Eastern Europe... Europe consist of 40+ countries, from nation to nation things a Little bit different,.... there is no such a thing as eastern European culture... Baltic States defiantly much more westernize. Because in Baltics its defiantly not like that. Most people get married in late 20's early 30's. the most common for first marriage... again divorce rates are high... then I was growing up gender roles wasn't define... so most people adjust what works for them...its common for men to cook, clean and even stay at home, while wife works... the only difference that doesn't exist Baltic States. vs north America... in North America people bring in up feminism in Baltic States it don't ... and all this rights.... versus.. then I was growing up... I kind of always felt and saw it as common sense... because men treat you pretty equally.. at least in most cases... girls do tent to dress up... but just went going out... on day to day things are more casual..
Very fair point! I was meaning it more towards Ukraine/Russia/Poland and what I've experienced in the countries I've been to. I haven't been to Estonia/Lativa/Lithuania yet, so it will be interesting to see the difference.
I used to subscribe to a couple of RUclips male-operated channels with a lot of content devoted to Ukraine including Ukrainian women. I found their focus on Ukrainian women as potential sexual partners and, in one case, use of quite young teenage girls (usually with barely adequate English) as presenters or interviewees creepy and exploitative. I no longer subscribe to those channels on the basis of their exploitative tone and lack of interesting contemporary and historical information.
There is yellow fever among Western men and definitely something we might call like Slavic fever or white fever among Westerners and also these Turk or arab guys and its pervert and disfustin yes.
Hi Alina, I hope your having a wonderful day! 😊👍👋 This video is great and very interesting too. 😊👍🥇👏 I always wanted to understand how dating and relationships are in Russia. On my opinion to be in a relationship is to show appreciation of happiness, loyalty, love and respect to the person you love. Alina you have done a great job interviewing people in Russia,😊👍🥇 explaining their opinions about their relationships they have and cherished. I wish you Alina and your family a wonderful beautiful day! Take care and stay safe. Also congratulations once again for achieving 50,000 subscribers Alina!!! 😊👍👏🍾🎉🥇💪🙏 Great Job! Wishing you to get 100,000k!
BTW, I know this Russian chick who lives across the park. She has a hate on for pot smokers and tells me Justin Trudeau is a drug dealer. I told her to go back to her own authoritarian country if she is going to carry on like some sort of intolerant fascist in mine. She isn't that good looking anyway; in fact, I thought she was a lesbian, lol. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Now you, you could say anything and I would be too busy staring into your blue eyes to remember a disparaging remark. I think your father would understand. I mean you're about the best looking thing to ever come out of Saskatchewan. . . "Runnin' back to Saskatoon, singin' a good ole prairie tune ..."
In Western countries, liberal democracy has done its job and the dollar now rules there, it has penetrated everywhere and into the relations of men and women in the same way. Love and romance have been replaced by sober calculation and economic considerations.
Dating in Russia is actually quite easy. You buy a bottle of vodka, you meet a girl and you drink the vodka with the girl on a park bench. Then you two get married.
@@AlinaMcleod Well thanks for the great content! I've been watching your episodes around the time you started to travel. I'm still young but I've been wanting to live in Russia for a very long time and travel the entire country. I have lots of friends there and just love the language, people, and culture. You've really helped push that dream more and more + I've learned a lot from your videos))
My opinion love means trust and respect each other.
I've noticed that courtship and real romance is becoming a lost art as well, especially in the under 30 age category. Eyes meeting across a room, flowers, holding open a door to let the woman through first, just what was being said in your video. However, I don't believe it's bitterness.
---
My take on it is that technology has started to insidiously seep into the way people interact (like your mention of Tinder) creating a social distance (no COVID pun intended) from the very beginning and we're just noticing now. Then the two people meet and that distance is embedded into their interaction in person.
---
Technology provides an easy way to contact people, but if it's to blossom into romance, that technological generated anti-social attitude has to be overcome quickly, otherwise you're just another face - attractive and bed worthy? Maybe, but marriage? A successful relationship must have mutual romance, respect and communication not provided by the likes of dating apps.
Great, insightful video! I liked the fact that you shared your views and experiences based on your interactions there, alongside the interview clips. The honesty with which they shared their opinions is truly admirable!
Congrats on 54k subs- almost half way to 60k!
Thank you! Yes, it was so nice to have people be so open with their answers!
Or maybe the marriage was just so bad they felt it was better to divorce?
My mum always say: "Love & trust are 1 package deal. It's impossible to have 1 without the other."
About romantic relationship, I still remember vividly my friend said: "I don't date or marry someone only because of love.
Thank you so much Alex!
#blexit #walkaway As an Aussie..I gotta say your rather eccentric radical PM makes things very difficult.
@Anna Francisca Have you not??
Half Dutch half Russian here. No romance in the West, way more in Russia and Belarus - one of many reasons I'll be moving Eastward soon, back home.
Hi Alina , I was married in my 20's & divorced in my 20's ! Best to have fun while young , marry when in mature 30's.
True story, Nick Carter ran out of a restaurant without paying a tab my relative was working at. He's no white knight.
Travel update. I just flew through DFW this week, and it was shocking how dead it was. The shuttle van dropped me off for departure and I was the ONLY person getting out at the curb to catch a plane.
Cool interviews from Kazan!))
Good work. I found it interesting that people expose their feelings, very cool ...kiss the beautiful Alina
Not just in Eastern Europe, everywhere in this world, its been like that except few western countries. Most of the people give importance to family, society, relationship(monogamy), faith, spiritual, respect to elders, education and job.
This video is really nice I really like it 👍👍👍👍👍.I think you should do more public interview s during your travels. All the best from shafee
We support your amazing work!
Loving the hair :D
I think that most important in relationships is romance and true love - the desire to support a person in his desire to realize himself, to help grow emotionally, intellectually and spiritually, moreover, is a willingness to give a person complete freedom to be himself and accepting him as he is, without trying to change him. I’m 35 years old, and I’m just starting to understand that I was formed as a person, I was not married and still have no children, although now I regret that I did not arrange a family life much earlier, now when I will be many years old, children will be still small, but I really want to see how they grow, develop and achieve success in the life😊
Cool
Love this!!! 😍😍😍 thank you!!!
Brazil here!
Relationship here is disposable in my opinion. Tinder is used a lot, but people just use to have fun (Parting, beer ...) (mostly)
In my opinion, in this moment, I think man and woman must work to help each other, because each day become more difficult to conquer material things here. So together we can be stronger.
There is no problem woman pay something to a man and a man work at home.
Russian woman are famous to be very pretty and romantic here (the person who really care).
Romantic people are scarce.
Congrats for your work!
Byee
Sometimes everything change ...WATCHING HERE IN THE PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭 , THE QUEEN OF THE PACIFIC..🌹💖🙏
Great Video 👍🏻
Great theme for interview😎btw, maybe i've missed something, what is Yours real feeling about the theme, instead of logical rediness to relationsheeps, children etc😃
This is a good video thank you alina 👍👍👍
your communication skill set is excellent.
Thankfully not all Russians think the same. I don't see gender stereotypes as something positive. They can ruin relationships.
Based on your comments I foresee you marrying an Eastern European guy in the future. Since you visit Eastern Europe a lot, it is highly likely it would happen. I think your heart is ready for it and you have the maturity to handle it. Let us know when the 'Big Day' happens.☺
I noticed that too - Russians still believes and practice love and while in north side there is a lack.
Central europe has got it right
You inspire me. Have a nice day
In the modern world all this technology that we have recently acquired has had a dramatic impact on basically everything, but women/girls are so connected ,I think its causing delay in getting married really its to the point that needing a man /husband(maybe even woman /wife) is totally optional-self/instant gratification is so easy many probably reason its easier and more convenient to just play it safe that is probably the future for a while for sure
Yes women definitely aren’t as desperate anymore which id say is a good thing 😉
Loyalty and honestly!
U did not tell me if you are marry in my last question on the video before this? Why? It would mean alot to me if you tell me, ok, thank you!
Comes down to respect other and self. Romance and dating is the beginning I been single for a while who knows where love will begin and end.
Honesty is the key
i have dated a girl last year who looks exactly like you Alina. so alike that at first that i saw the video i thought you were here but then you spoke english which she can't and then i figured it out. just was interesting to me so i thought you might like to know too.
Alina, have you ever been to the Ukrainean festival in Dauphin Manitoba? Manitoba has a huge Ukrainean population. They came in the early part of the last century.,mostly mixed farmers.
Welcome to you in my middle East area ( Jordan ) it's really amazing country.. you have to try a new culture and real life . BR.
love this
Personally I think Russian women are beautiful and very nice
Tinder & Real romance in the same sentence. haha! good one.
I think i m made for Russia with full of care and sympathy
80% of your viewers male?! Well, you are very lovely to look at! In addition, you are articulate and intelligent and talk about many interesting things. What's not to enjoy?
@Daver G interesting
My personal opinion /
Thank You very much ❤️

Interesting Spasiba for sharing.
I love Russia I always felt Russian I hope to visit one day 😁
I used to subscribe to a couple of RUclips male-operated channels with a lot of content devoted to Ukraine including Ukrainian women.
Hey Alina if our divorce rate is less than that of the Russians, then they should learn from us. Right?
Hey Alina! Who's the girl in the beginning?
I love you alina 🤗😍 i am your filipino fan from philippines 🤗😘
regular guy and feminist girlfriend/wife = a lifetime of conflict
Russia needs population growth. Divorce and age shouldn't be concerned. While Canada... just welcome more immigrations.
Love is important
7:50 Beautiful hair
"right for each other" = правильная посадка, думаю
If I was you I would marry the "Bald and Bankrupt" guy! He has a lot of Subs!
Thats funny Michael. I dont think Alina is in a hurry to settle down. If i were her i would just enjoy her life as it is.
If I am interviewed about love by someone, I would say the problematical fact must be I am falling in love without hesitation.
Dating in Russia is actually quite easy. You buy a bottle of vodka, you meet a girl and you drink the vodka with the girl on a park bench. Then you two get married.
Alina 💕
Wow, you're gorgeous😍🤗
I do not believe in love anymore ('~')
dont care
Would you ever consider living in RU or UA long term?
Not sure! I see myself traveling a lot for the next few years so we'll see which places I end up liking most to build more of a home base in.
I thought that the girl on the video preview is you, very similar 😁
Hello Alina
