Visita Sinaloa, no te arrepentirás.

    LOS MOCHIS INFO.
Im thrilled to see my hometown in your video!
Los Mochis is probably the most interesting city in northwestern Mexico. Founded by two americans at early 19th century Benjamin Jhonston and Karl Owen. Owen founded one of the worlds first Utopic Socialist Community very near there. Such project atracted people from all over the world. The socialist comunity did not prospered but the people that came stayed, and together with locals made Los Mochis what it is today. A small town filled with people from all over who know are full blooded mexicans with european, asian, arabian and american descent. everything got mixed together and made a very rich local cuisine. You gotta try it!

Obviously you don’t know Mexican history, Sonora and Sinaloa where once 1 state known as Sinaloa but then it was split into 2 states. That’s the reason why Sonora speak like people from Sinaloa and have tortillas de harina that originated in Sinaloa as well.

Here is something you probably don't know. There were American immigrants in the Los Mochis area. The Sinaloa Pioneers migrated from Virginia to Sinaloa and founded the port of TOPOLOBAMPO and dug many of the irrigation canals in Los Mochis. Also the train route at the time of the immigrants was the shortest route from the Pacific to Chicago. Amongst the Los Mochis population you will find English and German last names.

When I was a teen I took a bus ride from Tijuana to Guadalajara, Michoacan and Aguascalientes and by mistake into Zacatecas, first of all I was amazed at how people could sleep on the bus during the most horrible electric storms that I had ever seen. This was in July so we went from the unforgiving heat in Sinaloa up Plan De Barrancas into an incredible jungle in Nayarit full of mango trees, coconuts, papaya trees and so much much more greenery, I was in awe. I never expected that beauty, anyways you will amazed by the copper canyon on El Chepe, it is much much deeper than the Grand Canyon.

I lived in Los Mochis 8 years. That botanical garden was designed by an american Benjamin Johnson, that pergola I helped a little in the design. People are very nice and the park has many plant species. . That downtown area had a huge american colony in it. There is the Maviri beach about 15 min from downtown, topolobampo. please dont miss the "El farallon" restaurant downtown. Go to Alamos Sonora, cd.Obregon and San Carlos beach. We pride ourselves on having the best tasting food (meat and seafood) in Mexico.

If you listen to the Banda and pay attention, you’ll notice is playing a sort of waltz. This type of music became popular in the 1860s when Maximilian, an Austrian, ruled Mexico and brought his customs to the country. To this day, authentic and folkloric Bandas play waltz music.

One last thing, I feel that some of your dishes should be tried with a Flour Tortilla, that is one of the Sinaloan ways.
