I am taking this course and it’s fantastic, Tom really gives us the good stuff! Highly recommended. I’m thinking afresh about my approach to piano, and loving it.

@@ianhowlett4682 That's fantastic to hear! I would assume we need to be at least early / intermediate level to be able to follow the course?

@@afihaileywibowo1095 Yes, I'd say personally that you'd want to be perhaps Grade 3 or higher, with at 2 or 3 years of playing experience. It's not a beginner's course. Personally, I'm in my mid-40s, started taking organ lessons when I was about 8, and piano lessons from when I was about 25. I got as far as Grade 5 piano officially (and Grade 5 theory), but unofficially I can play at Grade 7 or Grade 8 level. I can cope with the material Tom is teaching, but there's a lot of new things, new approaches, and new ways of thinking about playing that I'm finding in the course, which is great! He covers fundamentals and more advanced things, and he does it really well. I think it's one of those things where if you've been playing for 2 or 3 years, you'll learn a lot from the course now, and if you watch it again in a few years time you'd learn a lot of new things when you're ready for them.

    Great lesson!
The pros make it look so easy. Have tried reproducing the sound of so many piano parts, playing along with recordings, you can pick up so much.
It would be cool if you picked some current pieces with interesting voicings and showed us how they worked.

Excellent lesson. I realized a few days ago that paying attention to the bass helps tremendously when trying to learn a new piece of music.

Thanks again for all of your work.. a question… in jazz, adding a 7th, ( ex: 1-3-5-7th) is very typical. In pop music, we see more often 3 notes chords. Would it mean that if, in pop music, we add the 7th, we would have a jazzy sound.
