In my opinion they are one of the most underrated bands for 40 years. Seen them a half dozen times starting with Black & Blue and they always manage to give 110%
In my 70s this never gets old. Lived in Arizona most of my life. I remember the Arizona Republic newspaper accounts from investigative reporter Don Bolles. Bolles was also killed not long after this in a mob hit car bombing involving the Mafia controlled Funk Brothers and Enterprise Corp that controlled the Greyhound tracks in AZ. 👍🤠🐂
Saw these guys perform this song live last night and they were every bit as good as this! It goes to show you're never too old to Rock n Roll! Few bands last as long and still play as good as ever. No A.I. No backing tracks. No lip syncing. They still keep it raw and dirty, like Rock should be. I don't even care for ballads, and this isn't even my favorite song by BOC, but seeing this song live blew me away!
Parched land no desert sand, sun is just a dot And a little bit of water goes a long way, 'cause it's hot Three good buddies were laughin' and smoking In the back of a rented Ford They couldn't know they weren't going far Each one with the money in his pocket Could go out and buy himself a brand new car But they all held the money they had Money they hoped would take them very far Sky's bright, the traffic light, now and then a truck And they hadn't seen a cop around all day (what luck) They brought everything they needed Bags and scales to weigh the stuff The driver said the border's just over the bluff It wasn't until the car suddenly stopped In the middle of a cold and barren place And the other guy turned and spilled Three boys blood, did they know a trap had been laid? They're okay the last days of May, but I'll be breathin' dry air I'm leaving soon, the others are already there (all there) You wouldn't be interested in coming along, instead of staying here? It's said the West is nice this time of year, that's what they say
I got introduced to BOC in 1974 while serving in the military. I was immediately amazed at the awesome musicians and to date, they are and will always be my favorite. There's nobody like Buck Dharma on lead guitar, causes total goosebumps every time I listen.
I have to agree with your comment. I was also introduced in the military in 1977. I have heard it said that Buck Dharma and BOC are considered as pioneers as well as founding artists of the Heavy Metal Genre. I find the music exciting and I completely agree about goosebumps. Buck's guitar is so clean clear and complex. Like other great musicians , he has his own style that is easily recognized. Blue Oyster Cult are legends with the writing, they send me and my imagination to the highest of highs, in other words I dig them the most. Thank you for your service. Best regards, Mlke
I really like the complicity that we can see at the very end between Richie and Buck : A guitar legend and a younger virtuoso making great music together. What an awesome band !!
@@lonegroover a solo like that is bound to have some mistakes live. You don't get any studio fix ups. Most of those tough arpeggios are clean for a live shot.
One of my favorite bands of all time. I've been lucky enough to have seen them 5 times, and all of the concerts were great. Buck's guitar work is beyond fantastic.
Rush opened for them. Man, that must have been... I can't even imagine! I was 10 back then, and was listening to my parents' Nana Mouskouri albums! Imagine, real musicians with no auto-tune, no clicktrack, no mumble-rap, no drip-hop, no dropping the wub-dubs. I was privileged to finally catch BÖC in August 2018. They dedicated "Don't Fear The Reaper" to Aretha Franklin, who had died the week before, and "The Last Days Of May" was the showstopper.
Saw them yesterday at Epcot. They reached deep into their catalog to pull out some gems. Saw them for the first time Wollman Skating Rink,Central Park in '73. They still ROCK!!! They need to be in the HoF!!!
The first time I saw them do this was with Allen Lanier (RIP). Since then it has always been the song I looked forward to at the next BOC concert. Probably seen them 20 times. My first concert was in March 16, 1975 at the Terrace Ballroom in Salt Lake City. It featured REO & BOC.
Funny thing is... its usually just ONE humbucker at a time x) Buck is more often than not, playing with just the bridge pickup. Richie uses the neck pickup way more often, more often than MOST guitarists tbh.
My uncle from US came to Germany and brought as present the venyl "On your Feet or on your Knees". It was 1977 and I was 15 and my collection was just about 5 or 10 Albums. So I did hear and hear it again and started to love BÖC. It blow away my ears. This love is still there and endless. They changed my musical mind.
Storytime: You all will laugh at me,but the first time I saw BOC was back in the summer of 1998 I had just turned twenty years old and I had just got into their music three years prior thanks to a low budget raunchy teen stoner comedy movie called The Stoned Age,well anyway back to the summer of 98 I heard on the Classic Rock station that Blue Oyster Cult was coming to town and I called up my well now former best friend, long story and we heard the local record shop in town was selling the tickets we arrived and were sold the first two tickets. Yes,you read right one and two so two weeks later I get home from work the day of the show I hop in the shower and get dressed the concert did not start until 9 pm but we arrived two hours early at the club they were playing in Fort Myers Florida we arrived while they were doing soundcheck and one of the DJs from the local Rock station was there giving away t shirts, hats and bumper stickers he let me and my friend in the club while BOC was doing soundcheck and minutes later who comes out the front door? Danny Miranda,Buck Dharma,Allen Lanier,Bobbie Rondinelli and we got to meet them and they were parked next to my car so by 7pm the crowd shows up we were the first ones there like The Grizwolds at Walley World and by 8pm the doors opened and 9pm BOC took the stage and kicked ass for two and a half hours and rocked us,I couldn't tell if it was the 70s,80s or 90s they on the Heaven Forbid tour at the time. What an experience that was.
Saw BOC tonight in Derry NH They played this song and Richie killed it on his solo even more than this show which is amazing! Buck Dharma was amazing and Eric Bloom, Jules and Danny awesome! 🎸🥁🎶🤘
Saw them as "Soft White Underbelly" back in the early 80's at a bar in Baltimore. (Hammerjacks) When they played this song, I weaseled up to the front to watch them.
just saw them week ago and still the greatest are there two better guitarists in one band? been following this group live since their laser shows of the 70's
WOW AMAZING JOB !! WHAT AWESOME SOUND !!! This was always my favorite of the Cults' . , since the early 80s. Awesome song , awesome band , of the very best !!!!
bon dieu quel guitariste.....rory gallagher, ritchie blackmore, pat travers etc etc .vous faite partie MR BUCK DHARMA de mes guitariste préféré....ça prends aux trippes......merci merci
I think that is one of my favorite BOC songs. I saw them at the Amphitheater in Chicago December 27 and 28, 1977. Both shows were awesome. I still remember Edgar Winter coming down from the 2nd floor in his white skeleton outfit.
In my opinion they are one of the most underrated bands for 40 years. Seen them a half dozen times starting with Black & Blue and they always manage to give 110%
America's First Heavy Metal Band! They Need to be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame! An Epic Show Every time! \m/\m/
For sure!..Four times for me..
You got that right.
You are a very lucky man. Listen to them since early 80s but never see them live. Live in Norway and dont know if they been here. Anyone??? BOC Norway
Agreed. Black and Blue was awesome
WE all know how great Buck and his solos are but Richie's solo here is amazing as well!
Richie captured the original BOC sound and built on it. Kudos to him!
There is only one Buck Dharma - unique sound and feel. A legend.
You are not kidding
Astronomy
Yes
You can say that again!! Awesome performance!!
The best,!
In my 70s this never gets old.

I like how Richie and Buck look at each other at the end and smile and nod , knowing they just killed it. Lol
Yes, yes, yes. They just announced London. Ihave my ticket. I first saw the 43 years ago. What a fucking band!!!
Awesome! Have a blast.
Oh yea!!!!!
Don't forget to point at the drummer, without him that song ain't happening.
Jules Radino
Man, I really like the studio version, but this was absolutely stunning
It most definitely was!!
Yes it is
Fifty years of practice!😊
This live version is over the top. The guitar tone Buck Dharma has in this song is incredible. The whole band had an amazing performance.
The live version on "On Your Feet Or On Your Knees" pierces your mind.
If this song doesn’t give you goosebumps you must be dead.
Buck Dharma very underrated.
Richie is one of the best guitarists I've ever seen.
Excellent musicians. Castellano's solo is well done.
7:35 Shoutout the drummer on that final leg of the song. Boy ain’t miss a beat😂💯
Yeah he's a machine!
One of the greatest songs of all time. Paints and incredible picture.
Parched land no desert sand, sun is just a dot
And a little bit of water goes a long way, 'cause it's hot
Three good buddies were laughin' and smoking
In the back of a rented Ford
They couldn't know they weren't going far
Each one with the money in his pocket
Could go out and buy himself a brand new car
But they all held the money they had
Money they hoped would take them very far
Sky's bright, the traffic light, now and then a truck
And they hadn't seen a cop around all day (what luck)
They brought everything they needed
Bags and scales to weigh the stuff
The driver said the border's just over the bluff
It wasn't until the car suddenly stopped
In the middle of a cold and barren place
And the other guy turned and spilled
Three boys blood, did they know a trap had been laid?
They're okay the last days of May, but I'll be breathin' dry air
I'm leaving soon, the others are already there (all there)
You wouldn't be interested in coming along, instead of staying here?
It's said the West is nice this time of year, that's what they say
Buck ❤️
Wow! You’ve just nailed another solo! The BOC.. sorry but the Hall of Fame anyone ?????
I got introduced to BOC in 1974 while serving in the military. I was immediately amazed at the awesome musicians and to date, they are and will always be my favorite. There's nobody like Buck Dharma on lead guitar, causes total goosebumps every time I listen.
You are not kidding. check out Miche Shankar

Totally agree with you 👍🇬🇧
Last verse just gave me complete chills, and the look they gave eachother just made me smile. Awesome playing! Fantastic song!
I really like the complicity that we can see at the very end between Richie and Buck :
A guitar legend and a younger virtuoso making great music together.
What an awesome band !!
9:57 two musical brothers sharing a moment on stage
The look on their faces at the end. They knew they nailed it better than anyone could
Richie Castellano's solo is first rate , makes Buck's life easier.
Like whiskey or wine . Have personality . Thank you "Buck" .
Guitar solo is insane 😳
I'm no musician and I could be wrong but I hear some Alan Holdsworth when Buck plays lead.
If they only wrote music for two guitars: this would be one of them! Thank!
Only with Buck Dharma could Richie Castallano ever play 2nd fiddle. All Praise!
and the wonders never cease! “On your feet, or on your knees. Ladies and Gentlemen the amazing BLUE ÖYSTER CULT!”
I wore that album out...twice! I still enjoy it today, especially while driving cross country at night.
Still have my original vinyl of that!!!
Best live album bar none
The expression of "It don't get any better than this" came from this performance.
Oh Richie Castillo just kills it! It's beautiful.
oh hell yeah this is some of the Greatest LIVE stuff i've seen and heard
It's Richie Castellano, not Castillo. And yes, he does a fine job on this track along with Buck.
He overplays it and makes a mistake.
Castellano
@@lonegroover a solo like that is bound to have some mistakes live. You don't get any studio fix ups. Most of those tough arpeggios are clean for a live shot.
Ιn Buck Dharma we trust.
One of my favorite bands of all time. I've been lucky enough to have seen them 5 times, and all of the concerts were great. Buck's guitar work is beyond fantastic.
Never get tired if watching this performance. Amazing
Seen them whenever they come to the uk absolutely the best love them.
I sa them in 76 or 77 when they had the killer light show!!! One of my first concerts. Rush opened for them! The ticket cost me 10 or 12 bucks.
yeah, those were the days. BOC , Ronnie Montrose and Journey
Yep i saw them on that tour too in Newcastle UK--it was recorded live and a couple of tracks feature on the"Some enchanted evening"
Rush opened for them. Man, that must have been... I can't even imagine! I was 10 back then, and was listening to my parents' Nana Mouskouri albums! Going to see them TONIGHT at Paso Robles Californistan. Mid State fair. Free with admission. Being a senior..$12. The new album Screams. July 24 2021.
I remember those days
I've seen BOC 3 times but this by far the best version of Last days I think I've ever heard. WOW
Richie is shredding like cheese on this song!
The look at the end between Buck & Ritchie. Yeah, we nailed it!
and Ritchie gets the nod from Buck ... omg how good that must feel !
Excellent Vintage Tune ! ♦️
Donald "Buck Dharma" Roosa kicks ass.
Wow. That solo was insane ! Killer
saw them play this 3 nights ago in Bangor, completely rocked the house, especially Richie , just wow!
Here it is just a few months later and saw them tonight in Oregon and this song just blew everybody away. Probably heard it like you did.
It is amazing how much better bands like this get as they get older.
Richie and Buck, as always, are awe inspiring. Jules lays down the thunder
best fucking live solo ever
Saw them yesterday at Epcot. They reached deep into their catalog to pull out some gems. Saw them for the first time Wollman Skating Rink,Central Park in '73. They still ROCK!!! They need to be in the HoF!!!
Our favorite live act. Always love the cutting contest between Ritchie & Buck.
This Song it's like xanax . Try it one time and you can't stop. B.O.C NORWAY
I get goosebumps when hearing the solos followed by a tear of joy
The first time I saw them do this was with Allen Lanier (RIP). Since then it has always been the song I looked forward to at the next BOC concert. Probably seen them 20 times. My first concert was in March 16, 1975 at the Terrace Ballroom in Salt Lake City. It featured REO & BOC.
Damn!!!! That was bad ass!!!
My all time favorite BOC song, great version, great band.
Epic Blue Oyster Cult! A true Story......🙏🙏
Astounding!! Buck is surely the god of rock!! Ritchie is amazing also; he fits right in 👍
Masters of Sublime hard rock, Long live Blue Oyster Cult. Hail thee Eternal Heavy 🔥
I saw them in'72 opening for ZZ Top and Savoy Brown. They were only allowed 30 min.no encore, but it was really good. Long before the reaper.
Last day of May today.
Smokin Richie Castellano! Whooo!
Just damned amazing what a pair of humbuckers in the right hands can do
Funny thing is... its usually just ONE humbucker at a time x) Buck is more often than not, playing with just the bridge pickup. Richie uses the neck pickup way more often, more often than MOST guitarists tbh.
Buck and Richie are amazing together. 👏
This BOC Line - Up Rules !

MY favorite band doing the song that got the hook set over 50 years ago!!!!
August of 1980--41 years ago, concert in La Crosse WI-----wow---the best

Excellent! Great live performance of a classic.
am I the only one hating the guitar tone here as the original just features this crystal clear crisp tone?
Beautiful...been BOC since '73!
Richie and Buck,,,,,awesome !
Saw BOC tonight in Derry NH
They played this song and Richie killed it on his solo even more than this show which is amazing!
Buck Dharma was amazing and Eric Bloom, Jules and Danny awesome! 🎸🥁🎶🤘
What a great thing to have witnessed
that guitarist has some Malmsteenism's in there - diminished arpeggios sweeps
Saw them as "Soft White Underbelly" back in the early 80's at a bar in Baltimore. (Hammerjacks) When they played this song, I weaseled up to the front to watch them.
killer !!!!
Miss you, dad.
just saw them week ago and still the greatest
are there two better guitarists in one band?
been following this group live since their laser shows of the 70's
Just saw them last night. I agree. I don’t think there is two better guitarist in the same band
Great song Haunting ,Very well done
Nobody plays like Buck but Ritchie is great.
