    Most underrated,underplayed band in Rock history.

    • @NonstickMilk
      @NonstickMilk 4 месяца назад +1

      That is such an ignorant statement and one that I am getting tired of seeing in comments. Any time a RUclips video profiles a band, there is always some dimwit that will comment how the band (regardless of who the band is) is underrated.
      How exactly is BOC underrated? They are a staple of just about every FM radio station in America and have been for at least 40 years that I know of. You would be hard pressed to find any FM rock station anywhere that doesn’t play a BOC song at least once a day.
      Never mind they sold out just about every concert they headlined while on tour. Back in the day before the internet it was nearly impossible to get a ticket for one of their shows unless you knew someone.
      So I will ask, how in the hell is BOC an underrated band?

    • @richardlamb1642
      @richardlamb1642 4 месяца назад

      @NonstickMilk you obviously don't know much about the Band. Mom says if you don't have anything nice to say. Then shut the F- Up.

      @@NonstickMilk He’s probably going by NURD (National Underrating Rock Data) Those statistics can be misleading especially for a novice or rocker under the age of 40. No need to call him an ignorant dimwit though. He’s special to someone somewhere, or perhaps he’s battling a terminal disease...you never know. Your point could’ve been made without being a turd.

    • @NonstickMilk
      @NonstickMilk 3 месяца назад +1

      @@bomkfort9428 Perhaps you are right. As I mentioned in my reply- with every band and musician profiled on RUclips, someone will undoubtedly come along and say "So and so is the most underrated band" or "so and so is the most underrated musician."
      I don't know what these people are basing their opinion on. Most of the time it is a band or musician who has multiple platinum albums under their belt and has a history of sold-out shows. Perhaps it's my age and I can remember these bands from their glory days.
      There is also a chance that the person happens to like the band or musician and wishes that others shared their interest.

      @@NonstickMilk Are they in the HOF? The only songs of theirs that get radio airplay is (Don't Fear) The Reaper and Burnin' For You...and once in a while Godzilla. Does Buck Dharma get any recognition as one of the best guitar players ever? I went to about a dozen BOC shows in the 70's and early 80's and never had trouble getting a ticket...went to Sears and bought them...usually no more than 2-3 weeks before the show, and it didn't require "knowing someone"...don't know what you're talking about there. So yes, they certainly are underrated.

    I count myself as very fortunate to have seen Allen Lanier play live with Blue Oyster Cult before his untimely death. Allen’s piano intro’ to “Joan Crawford” is just epic! And to witness the man play it live - phenomenal. And Allen was no slouch on guitar. I remember the live performances of “The Last Days Of May” where Allen gets into some serious solo shredding before Buck Dharma’s slower paced guitar work takes the song back to the last verse.
    Allen Glover Lanier - Thank you for your music. RIP.

    • @MrSkyblu1
      @MrSkyblu1 3 месяца назад +1

      The thing is, though, that intro was actually played by Joe Bouchard, who taught Allen how to play it. I'm not trying to discredit Allen's talent, just giving credit where it's due.
      Allen did contribute a lot, though. He could stand up there with Buck and still sound awesome, which is no small feat when you're up there with a guitar god. I also felt the keyboardists who replaced him never had his musical sensibilities.

    First saw BOC on Dec 28 1974 at Orpheum Theatre in Boston high on acid. Incredible show, incredible band and have been my favorite since I got turned on to them in 1973. Saw them five times in total, all with the original lineup. Still am amazed by their incredible musicianship. Criminally underrated band.

    A well done and interesting presentation.Allen and I were born in the same city; a fact I wasn't aware of.I was fortunate to see BOC perform live twice, in 1972 supporting Alice Cooper and 2-3 years later as the headliner with Rush opening the show.They were a unique band and the only one that I recall all 5 members playing guitar at the same time during their performance.Allen composed some really good songs for the band.I know he is missed.☮

    And a big thank you for recognizing a great keyboard/ rythym player.... and believe it or not...
    Allen could really rip guitar solos....
    Anyone who plays in a band w/ Buck.... becomes a great player...
    Hence: Ritchie C. who somewhat replaced Allen in 2004.... who became quite a player... so much so that Ritchies "Band Geeks" was chosen by Jon Anderson to be his band on his 2023 short tour...
    And also bassist Danny Miranda... who played with BOC from 1996 to 2004, when he left for the Vegas "Queen" show.... then was plucked by Brian May to play with the Paul Rodgers Queen in 07 or 08....
    Now, Danny is back with the band since late 2017 or so...
    What a band.... still getting it done...
    But still Allen is missed by true ol school fans....
    I saw BOC at least 1x per yr from 91 to 2010.... many years more than 1x..
    Thank you thank you thank you.!!!!

      Apparently some of the tracks on BOC’s “Some Enchanted Evening” were recorded live in Newcastle -Upon - Tyne in the U.K. Don’t know for sure but if the band recorded the closing track “We Gotta Get Out Of This Place” in Newcastle, then maybe it was done as a tribute to 60’s band The Animals who came from Tyneside.
