What a great piece from Yamaha. Your demo of it was so helpful, Philip. The overlap of sounds during sustain takes a lot of computational power. Typical Yamaha to just do it and make no big deal. The piano sound is true and nuanced. So impressed.

The modx+ line will forever be my favorite, love the look and portability. Not gonna lie its been doing wonders for me. The montage 8 tho I don't really have so much use for it seeing as I play in the church and the modx8+ is just fine so💯
The price it's good too, like 2200 all taxes included. The best digital piano sound that i've heard till now. The sound it's so open, the mids are there too for cutting in the mix.
@@danijelmelnjak4981 Yes, the ModX suffers from loss of aftertouch, so you don’t get the same articulation of the sound, MIDI it to a controller or keyboard with aftertouch, and there’s definitely a difference, also the Montage has upgraded A/D converters which make a difference in the sound quality of the same samples compared to the ModX, but you can resolve this in effects with compression and EQ, I’ve had the PC4, nowhere near as good as piano compared to the Montage IMO, but to each his own…
Phenomenal demo and playing of an excellent instrument. I really wanted to own a Modx6+ but the crappy plasticky keyboard action for the relatively high price in Australia turned me off. I went for a Korg Kross 2 at half the price that also has a crappy plasticky keyboard action but I can stomach it at half the price.
Great demo. I have the original MODX7 and love it BUT don’t understand why this new version couldn’t have just been the ORIGINAL. Irks me how they do this crap. Could have easily added those few differences into the original.
@@Coowallsky mostly I read another gent's comment in a different video remarking that late MODX keyboards started getting lower-end, lower quality converters and chip amps due to changes in microchip supplies and the shortages that are in effect, so MODX+ should probably continue that trend, but otherwise it is all mostly the same, and MODX+ has more user sample memory.

That's significant because you're closer and closer to that vintage sound" Actually you are moving away from "that vintage sound" since the DX-7 has 16x polyphony.
I have a MODX8 and find the black keys are shiny and very slippery. Are the keys on the MODX8+ the same or are they a matt finish? They look matt in your video but I know that could be just down to your lighting/camera. I can’t quite justify an upgrade for the other improvements Yamaha have made but if the keybed is better then that might swing it for me. Hope you can answer this. I feel you. I got a MOXF8 and while I love the instrument, the keybed feels surprisingly cheap. I recommend that you go to your next Yamaha dealer and play the MODX8+, there's nothing better than to be able to touch and feel the instrument, esp. when you're sensitive to the keys.
I rewatched the video and to me black keys look very glossy, very similar (same?) as on my MOXF8. Maybe the key action is different in the MODX series. Yamaha didn't say anything about a new keybed in their MODX+ promo, so I assume it's the same as in the MODX.
Can anyone verify this? Yamaha is claiming a 'semi-weighted' keyboard action on this new series for the 61 and 76... definitely not what the previous modx keybeds were.
The Nord Stage 3 , 88 Stage Keyboard is the best of them all.... (Keybeds only). I played 3 of the top rated ones at GC, Nord, Roland Fantom, and Yamaha.... IMO.... !!! ...

Did you know it is possible to connect it to a touch sensitive monitor and use the monitor and mouse to control it?.. but I agree a proper hdmi would be perfect

You can't hear the horrible sound of the keybed. You'll hear it once you have it installed at home. Click, clack, clack... right through your headphones... Instead go for the Modx7 or another piano with a silent keybed.
You would have to make a comparison to another weighted keys unit. I own the MODx 8 and I do think the keybed is noisy (made worse by it not being uniform, some keys louder than others) but I wouldn't switch for a MODx 7 ever as a solution because it is isn't weighted. If you're looking for the feel of a piano you can't compare the two. You would need to compare it to a Nord Stage 3 or something similar. The MODx 7 is a great option if weighted a keybed isn't important to you.
Very true both of u. I had a moxf8 and didn't get on with the weighted keys (I'm not a piano player). I've now got the modx7 and for me I love the light synth keys. But I think if I was a more serious player I'd have to go back to a 88 keybed. I had a moxf6 as well but felt the 61 keys are not enough.

I agree that this isn't much of an upgrade. Would have been nice to see something pushing the product further. As a MODx 8 owner I am glad they still feel the MODx has not hit its EOL cycle so maybe we will get some software updates soon. I am kind of shocked they didn't release a firmware 3.0 along with this MODx plus launch. Maybe soon? I have had the MODx since it first came out and I don't think it had any real competition in its price range until recently. I still think the MODx is a great, but before when someone asked me what to get, the answer was easy. Get a MODx, best bang for the buck by far, just be ready to spend a lot of time learning it because it is a bit complicated to use. Now I tell people to look both at the Phantom 0 and MODx. I have not used the Phantom but I see a lot of features I wish the MODx would have especially in terms of workflow. I just don't feel that these upgrades will make much of a difference to push someone to the MODx if they were on the fence with a different product.
Sir can import a sample on modx plus because I need for 4 reasons First reason one for live orchestral performance program and second reason for studio recording and 3 reason how many own samples and library s can I improt on modx plus and 4 reason it's fast loading keyboard because I saw korg Kronos it has 9 engine and loading was too slow can't use on live orchestral program can modx plus beat this korg Kronos and natulis

Casio Privia Pro PX-5S is godlike in this matter.
MODX keys are not as good as MOXF. And MOXF is nothing to write home about to begin with when it comes to the keybed.

Ive owned the modx8 for 2.5 years. The bed is noisy but its not a deal breaker. The sounds are amazing.
Any info about if they will release the computer software as in the montage m for modx+?

First reason one for live orchestral performance program and second reason for studio recording and 3 reason how many own samples and library s can I improt on modx plus and 4 reason it's fast loading keyboard because I saw korg Kronos it has 9 engine and loading was too slow can't use on live orchestral program can modx plus beat this korg Kronos and natulis
