      The first story about the Smoky Mountain National Park it’s the same. A lot of places there are very spiritual for the Cherokee tribe. Once you get away from Gatlinburg it gets very dense. Even with the amount of people visiting there. The snow storms that just randomly start up with no warning is amazing. 94’ it was 75 one day the next day 14” of snow and cold almost instantly. No one predicted how bad it ended up being.

    Amazing job is always. I'm always curious when camping gear is found on rocks especially since in the first story I said the captain gear was on the boulder in the middle of the river. You wonder if somebody chase them away until they fell off the cliff and then stacked it as a signature of sorts since it's so common. However he could have decided to leave after the snowball fight not because of it but because that was the straw that broke the camel's back. I was almost like he intentionally separated himself from the group. But this is the problem with groups like the scouts when this happened it's usually the adult does not keep the group together and allows people to separate which is just irresponsible.

    Granted, there are plenty of prosaic explanations along with background data that would go towards them. But yeah...it's perfectly normal for a person who is lost in the deep woods in cold weather to stack their gear on a boulder in the *middle* of a stream, then go wandering off. Just like how it's perfectly normal for a ten year old to be perfectly fine after a week alone in the wilderness with no survival gear, no food, and only water. There's absolutely nothing odd or strange about that or these forests in general.

    • @unropednope4644
      @unropednope4644 2 года назад

      Unfortunately the only information and sources these youtubers get their information from is david paulides and other online sources that are largely going off hearsay. When you read the actual search and rescue reports and direct details from the rangers on site, its always different. The clothes were never actually found neatly stacked but washed up on the rocks from a rising and falling river.
      As for children surviving for a week, there's plenty of cases where the child is found with scratches and dirt and bruises all over their bodies indicating they found warmth by covering themselves with brush. They can also survive just on water just fine. When you get the details directly from the child, this is exactly the kind of things they state. Nothing mysterious.

  • @redacted9506
    @redacted9506 2 года назад +10

    I think cases like that of Dennis Martin could be situations in which a mountain lion attacks the child and then drags them high up into a tree; So high that the scent is whisked away by the wind, potentially explaining the lack of evidence. Blood, biological matter, and other scraps could be caught up in the high branches, scarcely allowing anything to reach the ground. It would be impossible to see cougars kill so high up in a tree, disguised by the foliage. Likewise, a singular cougar picking up the habit of preying on human children would explain multiple children going missing in the area.
    Geoff, however, could have turned off the trail for multiple reasons. As stated, one of the other scouts passed by the spot Geoff was supposed to have been resting at. It would make sense if Geoff was needing to make a bowel movement, he would have ventured farther than he should off-trail for privacy. Then he could have become lost and wandered until he reached the place he made camp, falling off the cliff while delusional from hypothermia. (Another more unlikely conclusion is an animal attack pursued him the wrong way on the trail, then off into the wilderness, Perhaps the cougar? Guess we'll never know.)

    As i was writing i got booted, wonder why? So i will repeat... Malaysia has interesting cases also but because Spirit beings are apart of culture, they speak openly about disappearances. If people are unfound, Shamans will be called in to locate the person(s), rare that people are returned alive but already passed on, the ones that make it back alive of which there are few, don't remember much. Some "not all" depends on which part of Australia but Aboriginal Clans have Lore or Dream Time Stories about Spirit Beings, beings they hold Sacred but also have a healthy wariness of because of their powers. They say that Wandjina can walk through solid rock, they also get called "Cloud People". They're said to have power over the weather, they are able to install themselves into Owls especially but others too. Animism ( the belief that all natural phenomena, including human beings, animals, and plants, but also rocks, lakes, mountains, weather, and so on, share one vital quality-the soul or spirit that energizes them, therefore, can be possessed. If taken by Spirit(s) one could be walking right past their beloved without "hearing or seeing them" because they are being hidden by stealthy means & may have them hidden inside a cliff face, tree or anything that has life. I think to return to our realm causes death for most. Of all the tests, they should do EMR tests, i think there will be a radiation signature.

    It is possible that Jeffry Hague was either suffering from low blood sugar or hypothermia before he wandered off. You can get dangerously chilled without you, or others, realizing you are in danger. When he stopped to rest he cooled off even more which could cause enough mental sluggishness for him to become disoriented. Low blood sugar can also cause mental sluggishness, enough for a person left alone to not recognize where they are at.

    Cases like the last one always makes me wonder how many people were actually still alive when the search is called off under the assumption they were already dead and might have been found alive if only they searched for just a few more days.
    I also feel like there must be something different about a child’s metabolism, or perhaps their stress response (or lack there of) to explain why so many have survived longer than they should, in very poor conditions and often without food too. I wonder if being small is an advantage against the cold, the blood doesn’t have as far to circulate to the extremities like a large adult.
    Alternatively, as they’re usually white children, could it be they’re of Northern European decent and because of genetic differences/evolutionary reasons (ranging from heart function, metabolism or body fat ratio) are built to be more tolerant to the cold. There has to be SOMETHING in particular as to why there’s specifically so many missing children cases that have near identical survival stories.

    The timeline for Geoff (or Jeff) Haigh is rather confusing. I take it that he was left alone with the Scoutmaster?
    Whenever I hear Scout, Scoutmaster I get huge warning bells ringing in my head and they sound louder than Big Ben; I might be biased I admit but why would a 15 yo choose to take off on his own in dire temperatures? I hope that the integrity of the Scoutmaster has been thoroughly vested.
    In 1970 I was a young mother and I would have thought nothing better than sending my boys to Boys Scouts but 50 years later there is no way in the world that I would like to see my grand sons in that institution. As I said, I am surely biased but with all the stories that we hear and read, it’s a NO from me.
    God bless the soul of young Jeff. 😇🙏❤️

      Yeah any time a child or teen goes missing and the last person with them was an adult they’re not related to, I get VERY suspicious. Just like religious institutes school-aged camps for boys and teens have a horrific history of abuse. It’s sad but I also wouldn’t risk my child’s dignity and safety by sending them off on such trips, I would try to provide them a similar experience with trusted family members so they don’t miss out on those skills and outdoors adventures entirely.
      It’s unfortunate but predators are statistically known to intentionally work with children and there’s just not enough done to filter these people out or monitor them on the job in a way that prevents them from hurting anyone 😔 I could even see a scenario of a kid trying to camp somewhere alone to avoid such abuse at camp (whether they’d already been abused or felt they were highly at risk of it) and ending up unintentionally perishing from the elements simply because they don’t feel safe enough to go back or they left in a panic and couldn’t successfully backtrack in the end even they wanted to.
      It’s definitely tragic for the family that we’ll never truly know what happened, whether a person or an animal spooked them into travelling in that direction or some other misadventure occurred. Nothing could be worse than having next to nothing to understand how or why your loved one ended up perishing, the possibilities for this case are so broad, at least some other cases have one or two plausible scenarios so the family gets at least some idea of what happened.
      It’s a shame people don’t typically carry something to write on, only on a few occasions have missing people been able to write down their last moments so those that eventually find them know who they were, who to contact after their body is found and the circumstances of how they ended up lost like they did. I’m sure many people that have perished in the woods had a period of time whilst still lucid to know they weren’t going to make it and would’ve loved to have had the ability to leave a final message for their family, to mitigate the suffering they know their death will cause their loved ones.

I agree with most ur observations in articles detailing the cases that the explanations given seem not to fit the circumstances surrounding the reason for the original point of separation or the experience not matching the hikers ability, or just plain journalistic lack of questions or common sense follow-ups. among other mysterious oddities.

    The national park disappearances are among the most creepy maybe because they are surrounded by trees and you have no clear view of anything that may be lurking in the area and it's like these people literally disappear into thin air one minute they are there the next they are gone of course they're is likely to be a logical reason why they disappeared its simply the uncertainty about it that you have to question.

      I'm in Scotland and they generally advise us about how dangerous rivers can be with debris, rocks, weeds etc that if you catch yourself on can drown you.
      But last summer, we had no fewer than 8 people who drowned when they got into difficulty in our lochs & rivers - all young people. Now they have amped up the warnings, Government-sponsored ads play on our radio stations now, warning of the dangers, because of these deaths. Cold water shock too.

    As a parent you learn kids have immense capability to slip away and deliberately hide from you. Some even think it’s funny to hear mum and dad screaming out for them and they hide even better. They have no fear and so the consequences of their actions are not understood by them.
