You are the best physiotherapist I have come across. You are genuine and really have our best interest at heart. I am 70 years old. I will definitely try these sleeping tips. Thank you. May you be blessed richly for your service to humanity
Good stuff! My Issue is that I have usually have no trouble falling asleep. My issue is that I can't sleep through the night. I usually wake up after a few hours and the wheels start turning as I solve the world's problems. Square breathing, etc don't usually help. I usually do the exact stretches you demonstrated in the morning before getting out of bed and going for my 30 minute walk. Love your videos-great content and the concise length I am looking for!
If you haven’t already, try the sleep positioning given at the end of the video for sleep apnea-some people have mild cases and don’t know they have it (until a doctor, or a menopausal woman who never sleeps, points it out.)
Hi will. Just recovered from bad back pain had a nerve root block put in which has relieved my symptoms. I have to say when my back was at its worst your exercises helped me so much. I now continue them on a daily basis to strengthen my back. Thank you.
I'm so sorry to hear you were suffering with back pain, but that's fantastic to hear that my advice was able to offer some relief - thank you for letting me know!
Thank you so much for your tip for a good night sleep. I am a bad sleeper and I have definitely learnt a lot from this video. You are really a fantastic physiotherapist and all your demonstrations are so thorough and so easy to follow. Thank you again, you have taught me so much in all your videos I have watched and have told many people to follow you. I am watching you from CapeTown in South Africa
Thank you so much for your kind words, I really appreciate them! Thank you for sharing my work as well, that really means a lot to me and helps me to continue doing what I do. Wishing you all the best in Cape Town!
SLEEP MASK! THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR!!!!!!! I'm glad I held off from buying a (cheep) mask. Thanks Doc, you hit the mark! - the other tips were good especially using the pillows to sleep on the back.
✍🏻Dear Will, I am thankful for your support. Cold weather in Chula Vista kept me inside, no stretching, no exercise. But you are there to motivate me. Wishing you many blessings. Have a nice day.🕊️When I sleep with the window ajar I have nightmares 😢 The 3-2-1 Rule makes sense. 🕰️I did find your video useful. 8:23 am💡I’ll try to darken the room. Thanks.
I'm sorry to hear you struggle with nightmares, that can make sleep very difficult - I hope some of my tips can offer some support to help you get a restful night sleep!
I was told that having a glass of water before bed lessens your chance of a stroke in the morning since most strokes happen in the morning and are caused by dehydration.
Useful information on having better sleep. I have proven that a dark room does help you fall asleep quickly. I have a habit of drinking a glass of water before going to bed, I was told that it helps ward a heart attack for the night. It is true you have to wake for a bathroom break Thanks again
I think that was an older tip, meant to prevent dehydration in the night. If we drink plenty of water during earlier hours, no need to worry. I finally accomplished drinking 10 glasses of 8 ounces before 8 PM and I feel better!
I suffer acute anxiety.. which inhibits my sleep. A dark room feels worse for me... I even have a safe light on in another room. But that is me... I will try your stretching exercises though... and hopefully it makes a difference.

Having been a Night Owl & insomniac for many decades, here are the factors that do & do not work for me: "Sleep Hygiene" does not work, Taking 1 mg melatonin 90 minutes before bed helps. The 2 tips in the video that have helped are using a pillow wedge to support the Shoulders and restricting fluid intake - But simply restricting fluids hours before bedtime had no effect until I started taking my diuretic blood pressure Rx earlier!!!
Thank you for your over 50’s muscle gain exercises. I am over 70 and keen to restore muscle mass and fitness. Would it be possible to include weight in keg’s as well as lb’s as I am in Australia.
Love your vids. I can relate with the light problem at night. I do have 2 Mantas but both of them kill my ears. The only thing that won't hurt my ears is a wide satin full wrap around. Interesting about the carb timing.
Will might be surprised at the popularity of this channel. I am not. Ive been doing short workouts daily for years, but these exercises are replacing my usual routine one by one, because they are more effective.
I’ve never used a sleep mask before in my entire life but on your recommendation, I purchased a Manta Pro. Yeah, it was a little expensive but it lived up to everything you said about it, Will and now, I wouldn’t attempt going to sleep without it. Thanks for the advice!
Another great video! I struggle with sleep and never thought about stretches! I will try them. I have a sleep mask and really love it but it is not great quality. The Mantas look top quality and I would probably get one but I have a strong aversion to websites that offer surveys to "assist" you via a survey but really are looking to harvest your email. For that reason alone I wont get a Manta on principal which is a shame as they really do look good but I will shop for a new one. Thanks again Will, you are a awesome. Love your book too, btw.
I completely understand your point - I hope you're able to find a sleep mask that works for you! Thank you for purchasing my book, I'm so pleased you are enjoying it!
Great tips, thank you! My only concern is regarding the Bluetooth device in the face mask. There are concerns that they emit nonionizing electromagnetic fields (EMFs) which can be very harmful to health.
I'm using the program "redshift" on my Linux computer which reduces blue light from the screen after sunset. There should be similar programs for other operating systems.
Hi. I love your tips and follow them. Have a question - is the glut stretch shown here ok for someone who has recovered from a mild lumbar disc problem? Thanks
The sleep mask looks like it would be perfect for me.I am addicted to my iPad and I can watch movies and RUclips all night. On a side note.I am 71 and I would like to know if you think your book would be beneficial for me or do I need something that is more centered around my age group, particularly neuropathy in my feet?Thank you,Linda.
Hi there - thank you for your comment. I think the book would definitely be beneficial if you are interested. There are lots of extensive tips for older individuals and those with all different health needs. I am also working on an extended version of my book which will explore even more topics and offer even more support! So keep an eye out for that too!
It’s estimated that 30 million people in America have sleep apnea. If you snore, get checked for it. Probably one of the biggest causes of poor sleep and insomnia.
Thanks 4 all your tips doc. As far as screen time goes...Funny thing is...I actually fall asleep while watching the screen, my computer screen, while watching movies. Go figure. Perhaps a boring movie...😮😮😮
I wonder how the pillow should be set if you're a side sleeper? Also I statt out on side and end up sleeping on tummy and hig my pillow. Seems to feel safe or something
I can fall asleep anywhere at any time, my only problem in life is staying awake, but like many people, my deep sleep depends on other humans, dogs and different timetables...one day I'll wake up when my brain would like to, not when the world thinks is a good idea.
Absolutely - for many people it's a luxury to be able to get a full night of undisturbed sleep. I wish you many full nights of rest in the near future!
The pro-mask is 80 quid, the sound mask even more expensive. Not to mention having a wi-fi device emitting EMF near our brains is in fact counterproductive. I wonder how the human ancestors managed without our modern gadgets.
Hope your chick's got her own room! Hubby insists on a water bed, work out to make and we both roll to the middle, nope 🙅🏻 and talk about bottoming out 🤔🏌🎠! Have a nice week everyone, love from Montreal!
No way could i wear a face mask and have total blackness. Not with the break ins and robberies here. Also being widowed and alone i often listen to the radio or RUclips throughout the night

I don’t see the link to subscribe to Three Tip Friday o my iPhone. How can I do this?
I'm using the program "redshift" on my Linux computer which reduces blue light from the screen after sunset. There should be similar programs for other operating systems.
Question: wouldn’t the sleep blackout mask interfere with the fit of my CPAP mask? Phillips Respironics DreamWear with nasal cushion.

Thank-you for the informative videos. You seem both knowledgeable and enthusiastic vis a vis physiotherapy.

You're not alone - lots of people find the background noise soothing and end up falling asleep during TV time!
Very motivational video thanks

Great!
Pre bed stretch....keeps me up the whole nite 😅
I wonder how the pillow should be set if you're a side sleeper? Also I statt out on side and end up sleeping on tummy and hig my pillow. Seems to feel safe or something
I think you know about knees over toes too? I am like a lot of women and cannot sleep easily. I don’t know if I can afford the contraption masks.
Sleeping alone has helped considerably.
I can fall asleep anywhere at any time, my only problem in life is staying awake, but like many people, my deep sleep depends on other humans, dogs and different timetables...one day I'll wake up when my brain would like to, not when the world thinks is a good idea.

Most of our ancestors did not live in electrified cities. Their homes and surroundings were much darker than today's.

Oh geez! This video just turned out to be nothing but an infomercial for a product! SMH
The product for stretching was what exactly?
I think these masks are for people who have extreme sleep problems. It would be worth paying for them if it helps, wouldn’t it?
OK, hardly "nothing" but an infomercial. Yes, he plugs one product, but there are 6 other fully explained suggestions. And that one product is integral to the specific tip so I don't have a problem with it.
