I JUST bought this scotch. I absolutely love it, as did some family up for Father's day. Very affordable here in the US, particularly for being nonchill filtered. I'm usually a fan of peated scotches, but this version is so buttery smooth, with a great development, it has gone very quickly. The label is killer too ;-) highly recommended!
This is the review that got me hooked into single malts. I really like the simple presentation and every aspect of this malt. I'm really glad that I've just bought a bottle of this, they seem to be back in stock in Romania, after a short break. Slainte!
Very much an underrated Whisky in my opinion. I prefer without water in this instance, but a nice & unexpectedly complex whisky for the price, excellent value.
Just bought this one online...Benriach Classic 10..have tried the 12 Sherry Cask one, which i wasnt overly pleased with,as I expected more flavour.Hope this is a good one,all the way frae Elgin!🏴
Thank you for your in-depth reviews. I'm just getting started on this journey into malts and cultivating an appreciation for the depth of smell, taste and mouth feel, but your advice already steered me right with an Islay Peat. So smokey and with a small splash of water, a wide variety of fruits. As a Canuck I was wondering if you have any reviews of Canadian whiskeys, and as someone living in Japan, of Japanese whiskeys. Keep up the great work.
Howdy Ralfy, I was curious where you got your information on the goings-on at the distilleries to catch the trends, ownership changes, etc., and gauge the changes? I just started working at a store in Texas and was curious on how to get the more in-depth information. Also, something you might enjoy if you're ever on a rye kick in the near future is Sazerac Rye. It's produced at the Buffalo Trace distillery from a recipe dating back to prohibition era New Orleans where it was used by Sazerac "Coffee House" to create the US's first proprietary cocktail. It's pretty decent stuff and stands well neat. Bottled at 45%. Figured you might be interested. Thanks, Colton French
I just purchased Benriach 10 year Curiositas. It is a peated BenRiach at 46%. I probably will not open it for a while, as I have multiple bottles opened already, but I am looking forward to it.
Ralfy, I recently made a nice blend using my decanter - about 2 inches of Laphrioag (10 year old) and the rest just Grant's standard blend. The extra peat adds to the innate smoky nature of this excellent blend. It works for me anyway!
Nice review, love BenRiach, especially the great selection of peated drams (Birnie Moss, Quarter Cask, Curiositas 10 & Septendecim 17, all great!) and the 12yr sherried px is good too. Nice positive vibe to this video :-)
I always watch your reviews before I buy single malts but today I bought this as I was looking for Arran 10 but that was not available in th shop and I saw this! Now very curious how it will taste, thanks for your reviews as always! :)
The last Benriach10 I had was one called Curiositas. At first I loved it and bought another bottle. It was like a sweeter, stronger 46%, Caol Ila 12. After a while though, the sweetness got to me.
Interesting Ralphy... they want to build up their fan base... well, they got me with this bottle! I loved it! I'm hooked! $42 for this 10 year old! I'm going to buy another and look forward to trying more from them...
Great review, Ralfy. I hope that one makes its way over here! I do hope Brown Forman do right by BenRiach. If Jack Daniels is any hint, we can expect some nice special releases, at least!
I find their range very confusing when trying to identify their core bottle(s) that represent their signature style. I got the Benriach 12, yet to try it but look forward to. Cheers
If the producers say it isn’t chill filtered and it still has very little Scotch mist, then how could it have been significantly filtered? Are you referring to barrier filtering?
Ralfy, does the chill filtration process cost distilleries money? is it significant, does it require specialized equipment? any idea on cost? If it does cost them in time or money, shouldn't they be rationally interested in avoiding it? I would think they would like a market where they didn't have to do an extra process. or maybe they will now try to sell us on the ABSENCE of it as somehow a premium production aspect.
Hey Ralfy - for Ralfy review 666 you should review Iron Maidan's Trooper beer. ;-) Come to think of it have you thought of reviewing beer? What's your preferred pint on the island and back home?
Antonio Rodriguez I think he talked about that earlier this year. The table gives him more space for bottles and glasses. The table isn't without its drawbacks, though. A wee wobbly.
@ralfystuff Would love to see a review of the experimental Glenfiddich IPA. It's 43%. It is definitely chill-filtered and from what I can tell, it's relatively young too (seems like a 8 to 12 year old in my opinion.) It's surprisingly fruity, sweet, and then bitter in the finish (I'm assuming due to the last couple of months spent in IPA casks.) I enjoy it though the finish is a little quick. I like to see that such a well known brand isn't scared to get their feet wet in something a bit 'if-y.' I always enjoy trying something new and unique if I can. Keep up the great reviews!

Fred Roth V peated? There is no peat note at all.

I'd like to take this opportunity to say Ralfy has the best Whisky, and frankly Bourbon reviews on the net.

Got a bottle of this quite recently. though it's neither cheap nor easy to find in Australia. Shall look forward to trying it.

BRING BACK THE BLUE JACKET!!!

. . . chill-filtration costs money and takes time ! they do it out of habit !
Hey Ralfy - for Ralfy review 666 you should review Iron Maidan's Trooper beer. ;-) Come to think of it have you thought of reviewing beer? What's your preferred pint on the island and back home?
Hello Ralfy, very good review again. Why don't you use your cask anymore, instead that table.
Antonio Rodriguez I think he talked about that earlier this year. The table gives him more space for bottles and glasses. The table isn't without its drawbacks, though. A wee wobbly.
Daniel Brown thanks for your answer, good reason too
Hey, great vids, I told someone about you and they said, "oh, yeah Ralfy, he's great." So, well done. Can you review Auchentoshan three wood?
Auchentoshan 3 Wood is quite good, but price varies a lot...can be £29 or £45...so wait till its on sale then buy it...like blackberry jam!😁🥃
Ralf, do more review of Brazilian Cachaça! Thank you.
. . . will do, later on !

Hi Ralfy
when are we going to see a review of a glentauchers?
thx for some awesome whisky reviews so far :-)
. . . it's planned !
Unchill filtered at 43% I thought 46% was the minimum for unchill filtering? Or is that just a recommendation?
What is a malt mention
Oh no we can see the malt mark in the thumbnail. Spoiled!
Naah, the value is in the review, not the mark!
Just 2 to go
glen elgin 12 next maybe??
Wish the Benriach 10 was still like this.
Its now PISH!!!🤮🤮🤮
16th?
