well, that was the sad year of 2008...the high point of casual wave and dev and publisher ambition to please them. simply worst gaming year ever. and then came demons souls in 2009 and all changed...btw im a huge nintendo fan in my heart but they suck so hard since wii. wii and their casual pleasing has effecting nintendo negatively even to this day. the NX will be a freaking handheld device, so sad.

Wii was one of the best consoles ever made. The Switch is shaping up to surpass it, though. The fact is, Nintendo hasn't been catering only to casuals at all, even with the Wii. Galaxy was one of their best Mario games ever made, incredibly beaitful art direction, fully orchestrated soundtrack, unique gameplay. Skyward Sword had so much detail, a fully orchestrated soundtrack as well, massive game with fun bosses. We also got Xenoblade that was probably the best JRPG ever made with a 70 hour story and hundreds of hours of side content.
Motion controls is irrelevant to a game being casual. There is no logical connection here, it's just something you people made up and keep repeating it, and you think if you repeat it enough, it becomes true.
No casual gamer is going to spend 50+ hours on a game like you would in Skyward Sword. No casual gamer is going to spend 100+ hours on a game like you would in Xenoblade or Breath of the Wild. No casual gamer is going to spend 150+ hours on a game like you would in Xenoblade X.
Nintendo coming up with unique ways to play is _irrelevant_ to whether or not a game is "casual". A casual game is something you play _casually_ . Nintendo occasionally does make casual games, like Wii Sports, Wii Music, Wii U Party, or 1-2-Switch, but you don't have to buy those.

From what I’ve seen, Dunkey’s opinion on games will change over time. He will replay games, and if it doesn’t make a fantastic first impression, he could go back and enjoy it. He did that with Doom, he compliments later in a few of his videos, which is nice because it just shows he isn’t static in his views, he is willing to change his mind and view things from a different perspective, as opposed to giving games a review score then never touching them again

Fun fact, Owlboy developers made a phone game based on a dubstep/complextro artist (Alexander Vinter aka Savant).
The game is called Savant: Ascension, and honestly, not only the pixel art is high quality, but the gameplay itself is so fun and addictive.

My problem with Nintendo is that they're so behind the times on DRM/ownership and shit, and how they handle fan-made content.
yeah, they treat their products like its the late 80s and everything has to have the nintendo seal of approval
They're also really, really pushing that gimmick bullshit. Many, many many, many many many people are tired of that shit. This under powered consoles with stupid gimmicks thing has got to go.
On the idea of fan made content, Nintendo is a pretty big company who has been falling down lately. Because a bunch of fans are making games nobody will want to play nintendo games anymore. The reason why a lot of people hate Nintendo for taking down fan made content (and only Nintendo) is because no other company like Microsoft for example don't have to worry because fans don't normally make games for those

looking back at 2016 as a year for gaming, we had it good with Dark Souls 3 and Uncharted 4 releasing that spring. 2018 was worse as a gaming year simply for the fact the battle royales overtook the market.

I think you haven't played many indie games if you think they all play or even look the same. Granted a lot may play as in pixel graphics but I find that because it's cheaper/quicker/less stressful to do so.

Doodoo shit like Dishonored 2, Overwatch, Firewatch which is actually the sequel to Overwatch, Pokemon which is actually the holocaust, Uncharted 4, DOOM, Dark Souls 3, Mirrors Edge Catalyst, The Witness, Thumper, INSIDE, Titanfall 2, XCOM 2, Hitman, Stardew Valley, Abzu, Ratchet and Clank, and Overcooked
