- This episode Constellation returns home and Morning Star leaves Reaper to embark upon the long journey out to the very edge of the Kerbol system.
Kerbol is dying. Thousands of years after first venturing into space, Kerbalkind finds itself on the brink of extinction. On a newly terraformed Duna, it rests on the shoulders of a single space agency to reach for the stars once more and find a new home.
Beyond Kerbol is a career mode series following on from Endurance and set in the After Kerbin planet overhaul. The aim is to assemble a vast fusion powered spacecraft to colonise another solar system and save Kerbalkind. The game is in version 1.7.3 and uses the Making History and Breaking Ground expansions.

I just got done doing 5 12 hour shifts in a row at the hospital, so this was a nice thing to see at the end of my day!
Keep up the great work bud!
Hail Calvin Victor Imperitor
The felling when you’ve had a sort of bad day and is stressed out by a asignment that is due tomorrow and you’re about to go asleep. But then you see that thebeardypenguin has uploaded a new KSP video
Uhhh...Good Luck?
Just seeing these Years fly by and "Endurance" being so close to reaching it's destination, is making me so exited that I am screaming internally to see all of this unfold!
5:51 looks like one of those fighters from Guardians of the Galaxy.
Kerbal Space Program 2 pre-alpha gameplay
The Beyond Home planet pack (canonical sequel to After Kerbin) is pretty good too. Might be nice for another series some time from now.
Henkil Epsilon assuming that isn’t the plan for when they get the colony set up - ie. that being what is used for the Valentine system’s layout/providing the space center on Valentine.
Hey i was wondering does that mod work with current versions of KSP? Because After KErbin doesnt.. Do you have to revert back to an older version?
@@raidermaxx2324 Planet packs require kopernicus which is version locked. So yeah you'll need to revert to the latest version kopernicus supports. Right now that's 1.8.1
@@PhoenixDTubed thank you.. Yea it took me a long while lol.. but i think i got it working.. Still cant get "real solar system" working with "EVE correctly, but thats a battle for another day lol.. It could be worse.. Could be trying to mod a stable xcom 2 playthru.. :P
I thank the algorythm for this wholesome gem
When the intro plays I really get flash backs from when i binged the first half of the series:)
Its nice to’ see a a new vid from my favorite RUclipsr
Don't worry too much about the radioactive exhaust from that engine; with an exhaust velocity of just about 30 km/s, it isn't hanging around in orbit of anything. It's simply being flung off at greater-than-solar-escape-trajectory speeds.
my space program went very heavy into fission quite early eventually i was able to make SSTO craft no problem because you get the fission tech alot sooner then really good fusion tech : - ) the tory ramjet makes some excelelnt scramjets as well.
The zero dislikes speak for itself! Thanks for the great content!
7:11 if u look carefully on the left of the screen just on the horizon u can see a clear red dwarf star, Valentine just under 1 light year away Archangel’s stellar neighbor also considering it orbits archangel. I can how would the Alpha Centauri system would look like if it was closer like 2 light years away for example
YES
I needed something to do other than build a giant spaceship for today
Yes finally the 11 episode. Sorry for m’y bad english i am french 😅
I remember when I started in the english comunity, I always said "sorry for my English, Im Spanish" at the end but, youll do OK, its a matter of practice. It took some time and a few answers saying "its fine, dont worry" to realize it. You dont write bad but correct this:
11th* (doesent matter)
my* (no contraction, no ', exactly like "mon", the exact same word)
I'm* (capital, but it doesent matter) (shorter than "I am") :D
Noé Rodríguez I’m trying to learn Spanish and I just feel like giving up lol but I won’t. It’s so hard learning a new language😔
And im sorry for mine, im murican 😁
In USA when we are saying something derogatory, we say pardon my French.
m’y? XD I’ve never seen someone spell it like that.... the rest is almost perfect (just like in French countries start with a capitol letter!)
It should be noted that while a bussard ramjet is theoretically possible it would be useless if you could make one, new math has been done on the concept and it was determined that even if you could create some sort of magnetic sweep to bring in the needed hydrogen you wouldn't be able to get enough to actually achieve a net power gain. There have been proposals using more efficient fusion models but the type of fusion needed is more theoretical than the ones we're currently working on. Also notable that inside a solar system it wouldn't actually have the thrust to propel itself against the effects of solar wind.
The open cycle is screamingly radioacive, but a planet is BIG, and space is also both, so more than war crime, isnt a big deal.
The quamtum singularity thing is cool and (yet OP), it works very much like an antimatter direct anihilation beam core gammavoltaic/mhd reactor (dont confuse with ghe thermal beam core present in the mod). It works similar to this theoretical device, antimatter is very underpowered (like an order of magnitue or more from reality).
I use it under the condition of venting antiH while using it (at same rate as it gives(to not gain it)+should use up (same as uses up H as it were anihilating)).
The generator I pretend it to be works like that:
Heat fuel to upper limits of plasma temps, shoot it at near, annihilates (this first energy is to catalize the latter), keep shooting fuel that heats up until turns into subatomic particles, collect cosmic-ray-power-level gamma rays, phogovoltaic/MHD conversion at >99.9% carnot efficiency. Its basicly a quark-antiquark anihilation contant burst (aka barely controled mega nuke)
A sort of equivalent to a mix antimatter catalized fusion and tri alpha coliding beam a tech (or 2) levels above
16:19
The Bussard Fusion engine Simply Won't Work. It is NOT theoretically possible. If anything, it ***might*** be useful for slowing the ship down while collecting fuel.
Once again beardy cures my boredom
Ayye! I'm so happy to see another video!
The people warning you about using an open-cycle gas core nuclear rocket in orbit forget that:
a) space is quite radioactive on its own, and the amount of mass you expel tiny compared to the amount of, well, space. Density matters.
b) whatever radioactive particles you expel are _quite_ fast (tens of kms/s for thousands of second of Isp, _hundreds_ of km/s for an Isp in the 10,000s range), fast enough that they won't stay in any kind of orbit around kerbin, even if you fire them retrograde, and to slow down, you fire them prograde anyway.
I see your series as the KSP 2 trial.
Season finale idea: Archangel goes boom in the night sky from the new solar system
600-800 km altitude and above now considered safe for using any nuclear propulsion engines.
The CO2 can might have been empty while the bottom one still had some cryo in it ti cool it down
wooooooo new vid! keep up the gread video making beardy
*Complains about using a fusion engine in orbit, then proceeds to launch from a populated space center all the way to orbit using a fusion based engine. Also directly points it at another spacecraft when coming in to dock.*
_The beardy environmentalists want to know your species designation._
That fusion engine doesn't spew radioactive material like that open-cycle nuclear one does, It simply heats up the propellant and forces it through a nozzle.
The fusion engine is clean, the open cycle FISSION engine is the dirty one.
TheBeardyPenguin ah, so kinda like an extreme but sealed version of the nervas
@@Electric_Bagpipes Nervas are fission I believe, they are just closed-cycle I think
Captain Wonders yes, they run the fuel through or around a nuclear reactor more or less to heat it up, then throw it out the nozzle. Thats about all I know of how they work.
Still kind of disappointed that warp drive will not be in this series, although I have a suggestion: When you go interstellar you may want to start putting satellites in orbits of the outer planets (maybe even around the sun itself) to make communication and the transmitting of data much easier
Are you going to leave a orbiting "time-capsule" in the Kerbol system?
radiation-smadiation. *Fires Nuclear Rocket towards rude neighbors house*
May be set yourself a time limit of say 50 years and then unlock FTL? OR... put a base on an asteroid and use that as a generation ship?
6:53 i think the big command block comes from near future spacecraft, not launch vehicle
Hi! I'm really enjoying the content, and I've been trying to replicate the mod setup you've got going on, and have encountered a few issues. I realize this isnt the best place to ask for help, but i dont do discord or any of that stuff.. Anyway, if anybody has any advice, it seems that the majority of these mods, for example the ones that make an entire new system, dont work with up to date versions of kerbal. Is there an easy way to revert back to older version of KSP, and if so, which version would you guys recommend? Also, to use CKAN or not use CKAN ? thanks #KerbalRules
8:37 plus its a cryogenic fuel that needs to be stored under rather high pressure (CO2 cant exist as a liquid below about 5 atmospheres), so that probably doesnt help either tbh
Great video! Keep up the good work!
Good episode! Keep up the good work
I was just wondering if he put a long term space station around the main planet as I have not watched the Endurance series
I used to think your RUclips persona was a chicken with a skimask bandana thing, I was so so wrong
Who tf disliked this godly video. Smh
What do you mean you don't think running spaceships off of Kugelblitz black holes is near future tech? we'll have it in a few decades! (and by "a few", I mean less than 100)
Is it just me or is beardy making every video 20-40 seconds shorter every time
Hmm true that the last few have been a bit shorter than my usual 20 minute mark, it's not something I plan though
I tend to end each episode at what I feel is a natural conclusion i.e. finishing a mission or an expedition
In this case I wanted to leave Endurance's arrival at Valentine for its own episode instead of just being an adendum to this one
I don't really see how one single open cycle nuclear engine could be so bad considering the amout of naturally occuring radioactive isotopes :)
Good stuff
So much got done. Now because eltos is only 1 planet I think, it should only take one or 2 episodes to complete the mission. Therefore beardy will have to do something else. Like create a colony on dres or something.
Or I could just..
You know..
Go interstellar? It is the point of the series :P
@@TheBeardyPenguin Im aware of that, except, well, you could do some more missions. Like a guardian colony just for the sake of it.
@@TheBeardyPenguin also, After the colony is made you could research warp drives and work on a 3rd series where you could try to evacuate the Kerbals and maybe, just maybe, find an alien intelligence...
hermitcraft fan I already have a Nemesis colony and by the time Morning Star gets home I’ll have basically finished the tech tree.. I want to spend most of this series actually exploring another solar system. I also want to get this series finished before KSP 2 comes out. Building colonies requires loads of preparation, id much rather just spend that time preparing to go interstellar and build a colony around another star
@@TheBeardyPenguin makes sense. I respect that. Yet are you going to potentially create warp drives as a bit of an end of series twist? Like the Kerbals spend years on their colony ship and just as they arrive and build their colony, a tourist ship comes. That would be a funny twist.
At 5:00, why are you sorta drifting?
its like ksp 2
You made my day!
Could you make a modpack of all of these mods you have pls🙏
No, it pisses off the mod devs and breaks licences. Just google each mod on the mod list and download them yourself, it doesn't take too long.
I just cant get it to work
@@antaresplays10 I think the problem is, none of these mods work with current up to date versions of KSP. So we gotta figure out how to revert back to some old version, to get most of the bigger mods like After Kerbin to work.. Maybe the content creator could make a short video explaining how he got all these mods to work, because its not as easy as JUST downloading it
cool, a new vid !
he dies at the end
Hmmm the real question is wheter beady will accidently cleanse the new solar system he visits with an open cycle nuclear engine. I can just imagine the conversation
Sir, are you sure that we want to burn with our nuclear engine pointed straight at this world.
Captain: of course what could possibly go wrong
screams of kerbals dying from radiation burns fills all communication channels
I'll be using the Daedalus fusion engine to go interstellar, so the only thing any potential aliens would have to worry about is a burst of neutron radiation intense enough to cook their insides :P
Not sure if that's better or worse than radiation poisoning..
Y o u g o n n a e a t t h a t
Does this pack have an Orion engine?
No, unfortunately :P
Do you have mks install or its not that important?
BOT Bajo yeah I have MKS installed, it’s a major part of this series and the previous one. I currently have a self sufficient colony on one of Solitude’s moons testing the technology I’ll need to colonise a new planet.
@@TheBeardyPenguin i asked because in the mod list there is no mks
@@-bajo-5636
Yes, there is..
"USI Modular Kolonization System"

Where do you get your mods?
The KSP Forums

Website for getting these mods?
BinaryKiller the KSP Forums. Literally just google them.
@@TheBeardyPenguin Yeah, I just search them all individually
@@TheBeardyPenguin I did, if you read the comments in the comments you would see that :P Also, half the mods doesnt even function properly
