Centralia BURNING GHOST TOWN - Abandoned Pennsylvania Town
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 3 июл 2024
- The Centralia burning ghost town was evacuated by a raging underground mine fire that started in 1962, leaving the town completely abandoned. Today, the Centralia mine fire still rages and has been burning for over 50 years. Come with us as we explore Centralia graffiti highway, walk through this literal ghost town, and take you on an exciting adventure.
The town in central PA, aka Centralia Pennsylvania lost town, is known for it’s influence on the production of Silent Hill. Many come to this town in search of urban exploring, creepy places, and graffiti, but it’s actually a local hangout spot for families, mountain bikers, and ATV riders alike. The vibe of Centralia was definitely less creepy than we expected, but I guess “ghost town” is the right word for a reason because all the houses were knocked down by the government so that homeless persons could not inhabit the area.
Centralia is actually not completely a ghost town, as 7 residents fought to stay in the town and remain there today. The town with a population of 7 has been stripped of it’s zip code and no longer has any municipal workers to maintain the area.
Centralia graffiti highway is the main destination when visiting this area and because the Centralia mine fire is still blazing today, it is slowly corroding the highway allowing smoke to billow out of the cracks during cold winter days. Another creepy fact according to History.com is “Graves in the town’s two cemeteries are believed to have dropped into the abyss of fire that rages below them.” A 12 year old boy was also reported to have fallen into a sink hole in his backyard, nearly escaping death.
Centralia was relatively lively when we visited so I don’t know if we would call it one of the creepy places Pennsylvania has to offer. It’s most likely a lot creepier during the winter when you can see smoke coming up from the ground. Either way, we hope you guys liked this video and subscribe if you want to see more content like this! We will see you guys tomorrow, seeya!

I saw on the news today they covered the entire road with dirt to keep the tourists out. Thursday April 9, 2020.
Oh wow. They still gonna walk it!!!
Hey, I just learned about Centralia. Thanks you for posting and sharing. We learned that there is still a cemetery there and that there are still 7 residents that are allowed to remain there, and, after there time is up, they cannot sell their property or allow anyone else to live in their homes; In addition, there is still a municipal building still standing; also, the Graffiti road was sort of amazing to see. Never saw a road with that amount of graffiti! So then, to the gentleman in the video who was disappointed as he thought he was going to see more, just know that it was really cool for some of us who have never been there and so then, thanks again for sharing your posting!
Loving the dailyDBV! I’m sure it’s so much work but it’s awesome to get the daily dose of Ryan and Stacia!
SO. MUCH. WORK. 🤣
Love your new intro guys❤️🇺🇸
Thanks! 😊
What a great channel with a great video first time seeing y’all channel!!! Be safe!! Y’all are AWESOME giving a big THUMBS UP
Hell yeah another DBV video
You prolly dont care but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times then you can stream pretty much all of the new movies on InstaFlixxer. Been watching with my gf these days :)
@Max Lennon Definitely, have been watching on InstaFlixxer for since december myself :D
Nice job guys! I love your video, the editing, the music, the colors, and the photography.
I thought this was a porn
There is an underground fire which has been burning for over 6000 years about 130 kms. North of Sydney, Australia. The place is appropriately called Burning Mountain and is an underground coal seam.
Who asked?
Crazy how long this can still actually burn, great video,👍🏴
Atleast 180 to 250 more years
What a strange place cool art work on the road i couldn't see any free space on the whole road look forward to seeing what you guys come up with tomorrows video 😎
It was definitely weird but fun 👍🏻
See my comment above
HI RYAN finally you have 1 video ,hopefully can see more videos coming out thanks again
Where have you been? We have been uploading daily for the last 7 days 😊
Those smoke shots were really cool. I might copy you and try something like that soon. You've been inspiring me lately, cuz ;) keep taking us on these fun adventures. How about some "weird PA" spots or the like?
I came here to your video because I watched silent Hill and was curious to see what this place looked like. The roads are interesting but not much to see, thanks for sharing.
This is not where they filled silent hill. That was in canada
You guys never disappoint with the b roll intro!
Thanks Ian! 👍🏻
It would have been more interesting to you if you had done a modicum of research before your trip and actually cared about the story of the town. Also, if you had done your research, you would have found the coal mine tour about one mile south in Ashland PA. History of the town, connect it to the industry which destroyed it, see an example of what the local culture that once resided there is like in nearby Ashland, gain a sense of what was lost, add to the intensity of what you witnessed. There, you could of also satisfied your hunger with a killer milkshake from Mays Drive in. You could have painted a fairly complete picture in the same amopunt of time if not so heavily focused on vanity shots of yourselves and littering the area with couple of flairs. Missed opportunity, your disapointment is your own doing. You have the gear, you have the skil to use it, why not use it to tell a story ? Anybody can shoot wreckage.
Lol not that serious.
We stopped here today, July 6th, 2020 and they are filling in Graffiti Highway so that people will not walk on it. They are doing it apparently because of the COVID. I was very upset. Got some pictures but not the full effect.
it's actually five people that live there now
Wow very cool vlog guys.. really interesting place to visit.. especially with background story like that.. btw are there many ghost towns like that in America?
Awesome, glad you liked this one 🙏❤️ Good question! There are a TON of ghost towns in America: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ghost_towns_in_the_United_States
@@DeathByVlog - Picher Oklahoma is also one. My grandfather was raised there, so were the guys from country super-group Rascal Flatts. US EPA shut it down in the 1990s because of the zinc mine failures causing massive sinkholes throughout the county. The adjoining Ghost town of Treece Kansas is where my great-grandfather is buried... It succumbed to the same fate. This is what happens when greed overtakes common sense.
wow, i was gonna go there today too. would of been cool to bump into you guys!
Definitely would have been!! You live nearby?
Now it`s covered with dirt and rocks forever.
I just got back from seeing the highway. It is about 40% covered with dirt piles that look like body bags. In the coming few days it will be completely covered. I'm so glad I made it there to experience a part of history. It's so surreal to walk the lots where homes were. To see steps just leading to nowhere.
Apparently they covered it up because covid19.... tell me they’re not trying to cover something up. there’s some crazy shit hidden in Centralia, and now we have no access to it, and no Highway markers of where anything was located. TPTB really hate good history.
Very eerie place to visit. The graffiti highway is awesome.
Could you answer a quick question please. I see you have your cameras suspended from your bag strap on your shoulder a lot how does it attach. A hook on the bottom of the camera?? I'm intrigued
Your arms blend in with the road. It's like camoflage for wasted spray paint.
did he really just say a fourwheeler oh my god that is a side by side lmaooooo
Thanks for showing you are trespassing. I have forward this to the state police
Andrew Lutz your a fucking troll and snitch
So do those homes have working utilities if the area is abandoned.
Great Question, Rebecca !!!!
I'm sure they are roughin' it out there !!!! (The girl said she could not get a cell phone signal !!!)
Centralia , PA is ONLY 154 Acres .. Used To Be a Very Small Town ( Media / News Makes It Bigger )
They are burying the highway now😔
Ruined an entire town: "Oops, my bad."
Awesome ive been there alot
As of one day April 6th 2020 the graffiti Highway is now being covered in dirt. A friend of mine who is near there told me.
Yes, I was watching it this morning on Facebook. facebook.com/hobottnews/videos/223728708832436/
there covering the highway in dirt soon
It's gone.
Ok
Do you guys still manage the DBV page? There seems to be a fatal error associated with the Login process for members. Logging in results in loop-failure.
I don’t see any errors. Have you tried clearing browser cache, restart browser, and login again.
I go there alot n have alot of cool vids from there....always tons of ppl there when i go
I was curious if you ever see the residents that have remained there. I assume they are not happy about seeing people show up and wreak havoc on what is left of their town. Personally I think they should be left alone but I guess people are just too damn curious.
I dont think they live there anymore....its abandoned...there used to be a handful of ppl still living there
@@CainSample I read there are maybe ten residents left.
I suppose they are not there anymore.
I just feel like if they still there it's disrespectful.
Could be but its in the mountains/ coal hills ....everyone I've came across wer happy n waved...99% of the ppl in that area have atvs/side by sides and ride
Yeah Baby 🤘
Woohoo!
Where did you get your smoke bombs from? I’m currently looking for some place to buy them.
cool
Thanks! 👍🏻
I'm Brazilian, and I have an enormous desire to know Centralia.
Watch the movie Silent Hill.
Ya made a great mountain out of a molehill. Good day out!
Glad you enjoyed 😊
I just wanted to remind people that residents still live there. There are 10 residents left who I assume have no where to go? They have chosen to stay out of necessity. So show some respect if you go there. They will most likely live the rest of their lives there. When they pass on the state will take over their property and demolish the homes through eminent domain.
Would be scary to go nighttime
Editing skills are dope! You're the truth!! 💯
First viewer from india❤

Uncle Phil
Thanks for all this great info!! 👍🏻
Cool vid, i went here a few years ago and did a mini drone vlog on it!
Cool! I’ll take a look 👍🏻
the first pic was better than the second one according to me.
Lancaster County Raised! Go Mules 😂. Always wanted to visit. Have visited all over pa Pittsburgh to Erie, Scranton to WilkesBarre and everything in between. For some odd reason never visited this place. Always heard of it growing up. Maybe my next trip back home.
Hi Jennifer! We actually lived in Lancaster city for a couple years. I have family that lives there 😊
DeathByVlog Lancaster’s ok; nice and quiet for the most part. My entire family is still there. I now live in Cancun but visit quite often since my brother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
Wow, living in Cancun must be nice. We are very sorry to hear about your brother. Our thoughts go out to you guys 🙏🏻
DeathByVlog living here has it’s advantages, cost of living is one. Gave my husband and I the financial freedom to travel. Just got back from 15 days in Egypt and in Dec headed to Thailand and Cambodia. If you guys are ever in the Yucatan area don’t be a stranger! Can take you to some cool off the beaten track places! Thank you for kind words ❤️. Love you vlog. Liking the new Daily Vlogs. Can’t wait to see your next travel adventure! Safe travels
And it's gone. Thanks, tourists. You f*cked it up.
but this should def get more likes than what it has
The true is the government spilled radioactive waste in the area and once people visit the area the life is shorten by breathing the material and the develop strange behavior and other mental problems
The only fire 🔥 I saw is the ones you made with your flares
COOL VIDEO 😍🔥 #DBVfam
FRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!
Not to far from me! I’m in NEPA but still haven’t visited this place yet😂😂
If you’re close by, I’d say go check it out. But it’s not worth a 2.5 hour drive lol 😂
DeathByVlog Ya it’s only about an hour away from me😂 I know a bunch of people that have went there but it was never a huge priority on my visit list🤷🏻♂️
why would they give that fire air to breathe?
There are a few people who still live there. There's a dpw who mows up on the main read. I talked with him the other day. 2015. It's good to see you are just discovering it. Its fascinating place, & the people are cool/
Dude used to go there on quads all the time and drink beer with my friend from Shamokin, Pa
No way! It’s was so funny man. Dudes were out here listening to 70s rock and slamming beers on the quads 😂
If you guys really want to see more, watch the movie "Nothing But Trouble" most of it was filmed there in the early 90s and they called it Valkenvania...remember no cussing.
Damn I saw Centralia in the title and I thought oh cool you are in Washington State let’s meet up. Bummer :(
Washington State sounds pretty cool, maybe we will be there sometime!
DeathByVlog I can show you the rainforest
Some of your facts were wrong
Just to be clear, it's not all from an underground mine and a mining disaster...it's mostly from a natural coal seam (which of course part of was exposed for mining at some point) and someone burning garbage. The seam goes into neighboring towns and some fear it can spread.
Thank you for mentioning that! And they also were wrong about the 12 yr old almost dying from falling into a hole. That was in 1981, not recently!
That town was in my territory and I passed it many times, but I now learned more about the history from Stacia than I ever knew. Good job 👍
Nice drone shot of graffiti road. If I ever go there, it'll be to read all the graffiti. I bet it's a popular spot on the 4th? No rules, no police, just an open road for fireworks.
Literally no rules. It’s a lawless location. But I’m sure the state police pay a visit every now and then 😉
⛥TopFan
2nd .. ✔✔✔
There is seven people living day
More like 7 billion 😆
wouldn't it be cool if some Hills Have Eyes situation kinda thing happened to them?
Go to Love Canal in New York if you want creepy!
Centralia / Silent Hill
Did you guys know the movie “Nothing to Lose” with Demi Moore and Chevy Chase was based on that town? It’s a pretty funny ass movie if you guys wanna check it out since you were actually there. 🤘🏼
Dude, what happened to the daily vlogs :-( You guys ok??
สงสัยฉันต้องรักษา notebook PC เครื่องเก่าของฉันสุดชีวิตราคามันเป็นพันล้านต้องไล่แจกตามคนต่างๆที่อยู่ในนี้เงินทั้งล้าน
1/4 sticks of dynamite... ya... that’s not happening. If you think non-commercial fireworks have anything near 1/4 stick of dynamite you have no idea what dynamite is...
Sharon is coming
Seems like a beautiful place to go for a long run!
Cool video damn she's georgous
4:55 "they are slowly being cremated as they are buried??" Huh?
That's a nice place! Man your vids are lit! Like seriously ❤❤❤ Love you guys! You both love what you're doing! That photo was WOW. I'm photographer wannabe 😅😅 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Thanks so much! ❤️😊
"Slowly cremated." Sounds delightful. 😜
Lol. Horrifying! 😭
Why 7 Residents .. Enough People To Hold All Seats In Government ( Local )
Where did u get the smoke things at?
You can find them on eBay and Amazon. Just look up smoke grenade 😊
Yay thank you
Your in the rust belt folks. You should have brought a dude on this trip for safety. No b.s. the people in that region are hills have eyes worthy. It's my pipeline work region. I've seen things you can't imagine. Kids using a motorcycle helmet nailed to a wall as a urinal in a home with no doors. It's pretty fukt.
So wish I could get flares in my country :( for photography
Still here from EverymanHYBRID oops
Still made for a good Video, Right out of High School Operated Trains In Pennsylvania, They are like Train buffs from Hell, Nice Call he works on cars, 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂,

Stacia love that place because she likes to play with fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥😆😂
Haha a bit true 😉

Did you visit the church?
We drove by the church but there were not trespassing signs all over.
DeathByVlog sadly yes there is a lot of no trespassing signs, but good area to send the drone up.

ผมว่าท่านเกษียณตัวเองไปที่นี่ดีกว่าอากาศดี
Place not that impressive but cool video. But on another subject on your trip to Greece i think Stacia would look good in a Greek wedding 👍😁
Hi Guys
แค่คุณมาหากินบนหน้า RUclips คุณก็เสื่อมไปมากแล้วพอเถอะเรื่องนี้
Not like nuketown, like silent hill
I've seen a lot of these vlogs about this horrible coal fire! We want to do something about Climate change then this fire needs to be put OUT!! What ever the cost this Country needs to start the ball rolling NOW!!!!
Chernobyl was cleaned up if they can do it we can!!!
There
