Learn something new every day. I never knew there was any kinds of halva but the ones made with tahini, which I have had a sudden craving for. Or maybe to play off the flavours and make a tahini ice cream with chocolate flakes cuz I also crave chocolate. Anyways, thanks for the lovely tutorial!
Halva is common throughout many cultures and cuisines. India has over a hundred traditional halva varieties, and they can be made with semolina, flour, mung beans, fruits, or even vegetables!
I love it!! This is really spectacular..... I'd like to try this very much!! The rose water and saffron in the syrup must be wonderful....I did not know that in Iran / Persia you guys are familiar with Halva, too but I'm not surprised since it is known in Armenia and Turkey as well. So allow me to add another country where people are fond of halva, too. Greece!! In our cuisine we have three popular kinds of halva. Halva made of tahin, semolina halva and halva Farsalon (named after the geographic region of Farsala in the south-east of Greece), and that one is made of oil, cornflower, water and sugar (caramelized). When you taste it it might remind you of loukoumi with caramel flavour and it's delicious. All my love and respect to you guys in Iran!!
Man it's been so long for me since I made this but thank you so much for your recipe and I made it and it was delicious I remember as a kid when I used to have cramps and stomach pain my and used to make this for me and it instantly goes away also it's good for when baby give birth that's the first thing you should give to a mother it'll calm the stomach don't make the pain go away
Henry, who taught you this version of Persian Halva? Don't get me wrong, I love that you're educating others, but Persian Halva always has Saffron, Cardamon and Rose Water. That's what differenciates it being Persian and gives it its unique taste. I have never seen butter or cinnamon being added to it(!!) Well done, anyhow.
You are going to teach an Irani to do halva ?? that's the biggest problem for whites that they things done the way they want , Each house and region has its own way of cooking and it's recipe , being from the same country , that's how they change .... If you know how todo it, What are you criticizing ??? ,
wow! that looks great - it’s not the halvah i know about though, which is interesting. the halvah i know is Turkish halvah made basically of crushed sesame seeds and sugar syrup. the Israeli one is made with tahini, not the kind i think i’d like as i like the sort of grittiness of the seeds. i wonder if there are any other kinds? i love the idea of toasting the flour. thanks so much : )
The Punjabi halvah is made with flour, butter, water, sugar, cardamon, and certain nuts as well but we make it differently. It's also a different consistency. It's one of those foods that is multi-purpose, I remember my mom making it whenever I was sick.

Why add so much water to the sugar? Why not add much less to shorted the cook time getting it to the terminal temperature? All that extra water just slows things down and wastes a tremendous amount of energy.
Oh great, thank you! Wasn't sure if it went on bread or a cookie, kinda looks like a dip. Also, been watching your other videos, great by the way. Going to try and make kabobs tomorrow, my husband actually likes to pour the yogurt for the bread over his meat and kabobs lol, just not sure how to make it??? Also, not sure if you have a chic fil a, but if you did a version of their spicy chicken sandwich that would be awesome. Thanks for these awesome videos, goodnight from maryland.

it goes well lavash.. we usually spread it inside of lavash then roll and eat.. its yummy and of course not armenian dessert :) enjoy!
This is not halva, the tradicional halva it's made with sesame powder, almond powder, tahina sauce and honey dates, in Israel you can taste the best Halva. Shalom
You're not wrong at all concerning halva made of sesame seeds. The sesame seeds are mashed to produce tahin and tahin is the basis of the halva you mentioned! In order to turn the tahin into halva you add syrup made of sugar and water. There are various kinds of halva.
The halva you're taking about is usually called Turkish or Greek halva, it's the really light coloured one right? There's also a version of halva that combines that version and this version where instead of oil in the recipe you put sesame butter (tahini) that's called halva Ardeh.

That saucepan is sure nasty looking and I don't mean the peeling non-stick surface either though it can't be good for your health. I never let mine get that bad and when they start showing signs of peeling they get recycled at our local recycling plant. Disgusting.

Looks perfect. Saffron, rose water, and pistachios, can't more Persian than that!

It's exactly the way we make at home in Punjab & Jammu. Though we use almonds & walnuts instead of pistachios for garnish.
Thanks for the great recipe i have seen similar recipes!! however yours looks easier and authentic YUMMMY thanks!!! for sharing!

there is no “israeli” one.

Tahini is made from hulled, toasted, and ground sesame seeds. Sounds like you're pretty much just doing an extra step or two.
australian accent ha, nice similar to afghans. i believe every culture has their own halwa.
I like Persian food 😍

@@Ghamary why
Omg that’s insaneee! The halva I’ve always known is one part sunflower seeds and 2 parts sugar lol
Will this also work if substituting the butter with oil?
Sure will!
good recipe ! Thanks
All the halva I've had was super light in color and had a million little flakey crunchy layers, is this recipe similar?
lol that’s not halwa that’s Baklava your talking about
If halwa is super light then the ingredients are not cooked properly.
Maybe you are talking about halvah tahinia which is made with sesame seeds
I’m very confused. In Russia we call halva the sunflower seed treats we make that looks like powder kinda. But it’s always sunflower seeds

My pot is ruined too 😂😂😂🤭
دستت درد نکنه خیلی خوب بود فقط به نظر من کمی شل بود کمی صفت تر باشه بهتره
We also make halva.our variety has mung lentils in it apart from semolina
perfect❤❤❤❤❤
Ramezan mobarak
it's the same as Iranian halva ,but we add zafran and ros water and cardamon
I love carrot halva.
did you use plain flour?
I thought habla was made with tahini?

So Halva is amazing, but that bit of teflon coating flaking off the bottom of your pan @ 1:08-1:10 ... mate you need a new pan!
What if I use brown sugar instead ?
No sesame or tahini?
Surely this isn't halva as we normally know it, this is sohan, or Persian toffee?
Please give me the ingredients in writing🙏
ingredients are listed in video description

You only find this kind of halva in funeral or something like that,we don't eat this kind of halva as dessert
I dont use alot of oil 😅 but great job!
I prefer halva with sesame tahini. Not flour and all that other stuff.
I used to eat it with rice flour, isn't rice flour is the original ingredient instead of all purpose flour?!
no
What do you serve this with?
Goes well with tea and coffee
