I am just beginning my cable journey and I have heard of cabling without a cable needle but haven’t pursued it. OH MY GOODNESS…. It’s a whole new world! Thank you for the tutorial. I really enjoyed this series ❤
I enjoy cabled knits, but have never gotten used to doing it without a cable needle...that will be my challenge to myself in 2025! It's funny...I've been doing cables for over 40yrs, but have always had to constantly check what each cable symbol on a chart means every time I knit one....but about a year ago it all made sense finally, and has made my cable knitting so much more pleasurable. Something that has improved the look of my cables...when there is a purl stitch after the cable, I put the yarn around the needle clockwise rather than counterclockwise...it really helps avoid a gap. It does mean a twisted stitch, but that is corrected when knitting the following row. I enjoyed this video, thanks 😊
I love your tip for a cleaner looking cable! I tighten-up on that stitch, because as you've mentioned there can be a smidge of a gap. Thank you very much for sharing!
That looks so due able. I’ve only done one cable pattern and it was minimal (in the button band). I had such a hard time seeing where/what to do. But that was due to the yarn. Even though it was the yarn recommended. I’m sure it would have been easy if I had been a little experienced. But I’m so in love with the cardigan. I never thought to pinch the stitches like that. Thank you!!

I'm so glad the series was helpful! Happy cabling!

I’m so happy this video helped! Pinching stitches has been a game changer for me. Happy knitting!
I would love for you to do a tutorial on doing the thumb hole on your mitten pattern.
Wonderful idea!
Light bulb markers that are colored and add number beads. Color for chart you are following in that section and numbers for row in that chart.
What a wonderful idea! Added this to the list of tips and tricks. Thanks for sharing!
Love your videos especially when you lean into technique advice. Can you offer any advice for lefties and when to reverse the cable?
Thank you! I think it depends on how you knit- continental vs. English. How do you knit?
