Jennifer, I'm a very loose knitter as well and I have knit the dog sweater twice. Super quick. One took a day and another took 2 days. Lovely ladies!
PS I’ve knitted it up 4 times. Love all of mine. Yours has a lovely drape.
Yarn please?
I’m watching you wearing your (mostly) black ranunculus while I’m wearing my black ranunculus!
i'm currently making the moby neck and will come back to this video as soon as the pattern calls for double knitting!! i love that you have a few tutorial videos up as well now :D you're the boss of your own knitting channel!! <3
That's amazing! You made me laugh...yes, the boss of my own knitting channel indeed!!! ❤️
I am enjoying your tutorials. Of course, you’re an educator. 🥰
Thank you! I'm delighted you're enjoying the tutorials.
Very helpful video
Thank you, Pam! I tried to cover all of the tips and tricks I came across when seaming, to make the process more efficient, cleaner and enjoyable.
I'm a little confused. What is the plug and play slip over? Is it a name of a pattern that this technique is used in or is it the name of this technique?
Never mind. I searched your channel for slipover and found your design. Looks nice. I have a daughter that I can imagine that becoming a favourite piece of her wardrobe
I'm so happy you found it! Yes, it's my newest pattern that is currently in testing with a beautiful group of knitters. I have put together tutorials to help guide the techniques for this upcoming pattern. I'm delighted that the slipover could fit your daughter's aesthetic.
Loving your tutorials!
Thank you very much!
I started working with unspun a few years ago. It’s not easy to find but recently I was able to purchase closer to home. I love Melody Hoffman patterns. My first unspun is a bit over-sized for me but I wear it🤣 I have a second unspun purchased and hope to have more success. I’ve blended the yarn with Merino prior and it’s beautiful sweater. I’ll have to try the silk. Plutolopi rated high and I have to say, I’m really happy with my experience with this yarn.
What a lovely unspun journey you're taking! I love that you're experimenting and playing around with fibre combinations and patterns. Wishing you happy unspun knitting!
Slip as if to pearl and is that with the yarn in the back of the stitch?
Yes, the yarn is hold in the back.
@@pairswellwithknitting thank you so much. You are a joy to watch.
Lovely to see you both together as i enjoy both your videos.no idea that you are friends so By the way I started some videos related to knitting and travel this year. Not as professional as you ladys. But here a link to my advent videos with no christmas stuff. Thanks!❤
My pleasure!
Rip the shawl out and make a winter ranunculus with the yarn. They’re so cozy.
Rip the shawl out and make a winter ranunculus with the yarn. They’re so cozy.
I do love the Ranunculus! I wore one yesterday and had lovely compliments from non-knitters throughout the day. Beautiful pattern!
Love the pink hat, reminds me of my pink Bellwoods test knitting hat, more fitted❤
Yes! I really enjoy the fit of this hat. I will be knitting-up a more fitted Bellwoods Hat, once a complete some of my existing projects.
Love to see you togheter. And so fun to get to know you a little more :)
That's so nice! I loved chatting with Emily and am delighted that we got into chatting about a variety of things, even outside of just knitting. Thank you!
Loved this. You both seemed relaxed and enjoying yourselves. BTW, it was so nice to meet you both at Knit City Toronto!
Thank you very much! It was a great time. I loved that we got to meet so many knitters and makers at Knit City. I hope we meet again!
Great episode! You bring out the best in each other. Hope this becomes an annual event x
You're too kind! It was a lovely time together and feel very lucky we were able to share it with you. I agree! Another knitty chat is needed!
I intend to knit a slipover/vest next, so take thé Idea of the underarm double decrease. Such a useful and beautiful trick.
The centred double decrease is a very pretty way to decrease stitches, be it on the neckline for a V-neck detail or an underarm. So pretty!
Aww yall have such a cute friendship! Jen, I so relate to the experience of having your knitting with you as the extra cherry on top of an otherwise amazing experience !
I love that you've joined us here and love that you can appreciate the knitting element to enhance the experience, wherever we are! Yes, I feel very lucky to have our friendship.
Loved this episode!! Loved getting to know each of you a bit more. Definitely do this again and again!
Thank you very much! It was great getting to chat about knitting and to deviate from knitting for a moment, which I feel I rarely do. So happy you're here!
loved this episode!!! fellow toronto knitter here :)
Yay! So happy you've enjoyed it. It was lovely spending time with Emily and talking about all of the knitty things!
You guys are incredible. I test knitted the Bellwoods hat for Jennifer and yes, she’s incredible. So glad to see you too together awesomeness.
I'm so happy you've joined along for our knitty chat. Thank you very much for testing the Bellwoods Hat. It was such a fun experience seeing all of the hats come to life. Wishing you happy knitting!
Love the slip over! I would love to knit this! I’m making my Ranunculus right now. I really like the way you knit your sleeves. Did you follow the pattern or make your sleeves more fitted?
Thank you! I have made my sleeves more fitted. I reduced stitched at the beginning of the armhole, then reduced every 5 cm until I was happy with the circumference, with try-ons to ensure fit.
Thanks!
Pull out the shawl‼️‼️‼️‼️. Great yarn. Always make something you love 🧶❤️
The shawl is really pretty, but being a garment wearer, I know I would love to wear this yarn as a sweater. I may! Thanks for the encouragement!
I love slipovers. I was thrilled to see that they were coming back into fashion as far as knitting is concerned. I had one when I was a teen in the 70's and wore it all the time. I saw them in magazines, but as far as I know I was the only one who had one. My mom had sewn it for me. For some reason sweater vests never really looked right on me but my slipover really seemed to suit my shape. I'm so tempted to try out to test knit yours.
I love wearing vests, but would love more in my closet. I am really enjoying the open sides but cosy panels. I very much encourage you to apply to the test knit: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScPahBjDMtnDKhoGoM8OPFxDstQg7ojv9JdrL1yHNf_xtSpUg/viewform
@pairswellwithknitting Ok. You talked me into it. Lol. I just applied. By the way, there's a typo in your application form. You are missing a word near the end of the explanation just before the questions start. Just thought I'd mention it in case you copy and paste when you make up your forms.
Interesting to hear you talk aboit noy lik8ng to do colour work with holstbsuper soft. I find it hard on my hands and my stiches don't look as even. I knit vikvaret mittens with the yarn and won't be buying more.
I loved working with Holts years ago when I knit my first Soldotna, but because the way I knit colourwork has changed, it definitely works better some a smoother yarn and not doubling-up with strands of the same colour.
Re your slipover (very nice!), you could probably call it a tabard. Google: tabard knitting pattern and you’ll see lots of pics.
I’d guess the vests could be tabard style? As a first time watcher and it may show my age or failing sense of hearing but numerous times I backed up to replay various pattern names and details especially at the end of sentences. The name of your channel in the intro was particularly hard to understand. This is what happens when an old person watches videos in the wee hours! 😂 Love the gray sweater you’re wearing!
So maybe age plays into the recognition of the vest style as Tabard. I sewed a tabard vest in the 80's and really liked that style. It was very comfortable to wear . I look forward to you releasing the pattern!
Yes, it is a tabard. I've also had other knitters share that it's like a pinny as well. Which it is! All of the patterns I talk about are always listed in my shownotes below. You can find all of the details there. If you have any questions, please ask me.
Thank you very much! I love wearing mine and am excited about it.
Oooh, I won the giveaway 🎉 Thanks a lot Jennifer; I’ll send you an e-mail ❤
Congratulations!!!! Email received and pattern sent. Happy knitting!
forewarned - I just finished my Soldotna using Holst Garn and the dark color bled like crazy and ruined the sweater (*weeping) - I even used about 5 color catchers when I washed. They were saturated and my sweater is splotched with navy :( I will still wear around the house, and maybe get brave and over dye the whole thing someday. I will not be rushing to buy Holst Garn any time soon again:/
I'm sorry to hear that the yarn dye bled for you. I was thinking about that last night as I was knitting the lice stitch with my cream colour yarn against the dark main colour. I will try my luck with cool water first when blocking. Normally I use warm. Thank you for letting me know
@pairswellwithknitting the company actually contacted me after I posted about it. They apologized and said that on their newer labels they have detailed instructions about care of the FO. They only recommend machine washing, not soaking in a bath! Not sure how old your yarn is, but if info not in label check their website. And all the luck to you:) hope it behaves!!!
A cautionary tale indeed😮. I have knitted and crocheted a number of projects with Holst Supersoft and not had any problems with colours bleeding into one another. That said, dye problems can be very colour specific. You do get a LOT of spinning oil coming out when you wash SS for the first time - the water turns almost black and you need to do multiple rinses. All of that said, I do love it and would use it again. But, informed by your experience, I might be tempted to pre wash any very dark or brightly coloured yarn.
love the vest!!!!
You're very kind! Thank you!
The shape of your brown turtleneck is what I would call a pinny, which is a short pinafore with a front and back. Without the turtleneck, we used to wear them in physical education classes to designate teams (i.e. red pinnies vs. green pinnies).
Yes! It is a pinny! A cosy and cute one, but it does have a similar construction.
Yes! The pink/red hat is totally how I would customize your hat pattern too 😍 I hadn’t considered knitting it but after seeing that one ;)
The red/pink version may have been gifted to a very good home already! It may have been my favourite version yet!
Spell correct - slip overs!
😎
I love the colour of the slipcovers, especially the second one! I really enjoy knitting with Lettlopi, I might just buy a sweater quantity of that colour. Thank you for another great video, I look so forward to them🥰!
Thank you very much! This colourway of the Lettlopi spoke to me and I knew I had to make it into a slipover. It would make a stunning sweater as well!
Hello Jennifer, I like your soldotna which is one of my favorites, your choice of colours is beautiful. Thank to share your makes.
Thank you! I'm really enjoying my knitting time with this Soldotna!
. Why not use mm size for needles or at least use both US and mm. It would help. Great work. Beautiful color
Thank you very much! Because of the whole numbers used in US needle sizes, it sticks in my head, however needle sizes using mm and numbers with decimals waffles around.
Jennifer, another wonderful episode! I split my time between Florida and Halifax. I’m looking forward to being back in Halifax for the month of December! Fia Fia is one of my favourite knit shops and I can never make a trip to Lunenberg without a trip to Mariners Daughter!
Wishing you the best yarnshop adventures whilst in NS. It's my favourite!
You were correct about the names on the Twin Oaks tag. The names are the sheep. Beautiful slipover, I cannot wait for it to be released!
Thank you for sharing about the sheep. It is such gorgeous yarn! I just put a call out for testers last night for the slipover!
Great gift knits options! I would love your hat pattern. I already have the mitts pattern.
Great idea! I would love to knit up your Bellwoods Hat. I am such a selfish knitter, but do have a few little items I have to make for others. Kim
Great podcast , i definitely want to be apart is the knit and would like to knit the fingerless gloves would be a great gift knit for my daughter ❤
Hi jennifer! Will join your KAL again this year as I am knitting quite a few small items both for gifts and for myself! :) love your Nordstrand! It,s been on my make list for at least 3 years so I really must get on with it!! Either of your patterns would be lovely and I just might have some time to apply for your slipover testnit !
I’d love a pattern of the favourite fingerless mitts. Is the KAL open worldwide? I love The Mariner’s Daughter and Lunenburg. We visited in 2023 having watched your Nova Scotia videos, but I live in England.
Love to get the hatpattern. Already have and had knitten many beautiful mittens.
Love your new pattern, Bellwoods Hat. What a fun idea for a knit along! Thank you for all the helpful suggestions.
I will ask before watching: how does unspun yarn wear compared to spun yarn? 😅
I feel that unpsun yarn is softer and lighter on the body. You're trapping air within the knit fabric allowing for a lightweight knit item to give plenty of warmth. As far as life of the knit item, I think can be vary dependent on a few factors (e.g., gauge, held double, held with a stronger fibre like mohair, what the item is and where it is being worn in regards to quantity of friction). Fabric that is knit with 2 strands held double of unspun or with a mohair will be more robust than a single strand of unspun. A tighter gauge will wear better, along with areas that don't experience a lot of friction (e.g., head, back). I hope that helps.
@@pairswellwithknitting Thanks a lot! I Might try it one day, I will check the nutiden site :)
How fun! I’d like to knit the gloves 😊
